Painting Jack
i paint your lips upon my hand
i paint your eyes deep brown
i paint my fingers laced with yours
to wipe away your frown
i sketch the lines upon your face
i sketch the sound of your voice
i sketch the love that comes from you
as though we have a choice
i draw the tears upon your cheek
i draw the blood on your hands
i draw the last thing i saw
- our two wedding bands
i trace the anguish on your face
i trace your lips as they meet mine
i trace my coarsing sorrow
i never meant to say goodbye
