He wrote his resignation the first day.
He hated the pointless meetings, the stifling regulations, the narrow thinking that kept him from kicking goa'uld ass.
Every day he picked it up as soon as he arrived in his office, thinking that today he would hand it to Hammond and move on.
Every day his eyes darted over the words before he put it aside without signing it.
Time passed.
His priorities shifted.
One day he accidentally set his coffee mug on it.
The following week it slipped under a pile of papers.
It didn't matter.
Daniel didn't need it anymore.
