,,Well at least the weather's nice." O'Neill said as he stepped out of the gate on the new planet. This one was called P34976. Carter had once told him that it had to do with a binary code or something but that didn't exactly make it any easier for him to remember. Carter turned to speak to him, "Well, sir the way it looks to me right now, we *could* be expecting a typhoon and.." He cut her off, "is that bad?" "Well it could be, but there's a village right over there and I'm sure we could stay there for a while and use the time to find out more about the people." He nodded. Sounded like a good idea to him, although he didn't really like these kind of things. They'd take hours just sitting around talking about history and science-babble. He would've much rather gone through the beautiful forest that surrounded them. The way it had looked on the malp, there should be a large variety of animals and an hard officer he was, he still loved animals. "Well let's go then, kids." He finally said and they went over to the village. The village looked welcoming. Jonas had said something about the buildings being similar to those of the early bronze age and sounded exactly like Daniel. The thought of good old Danny-boy still hurt O'Neill and he knew especially Carter felt the same way too. They had all lost a good friend and although he wasn't completely gone it still seemed strange to them. At first Jack hadn't liked Jonas at all. He didn't mean it personally, it was just the mere fact of him being *there* and Daniel *not* being there that had bothered him. Now he had to admit he actually began to like Jonas. He had a funny sense of humor and wasn't *as* scientific as Daniel had been. As they finally reached the village, they noticed that nobody was outside. "Now that's weird." O'Neill noted. "Indeed." Teal'c added. The tall Jaffa didn't ever speak more than necessary. Jonas shrugged and went over to one of the little houses to knock on the door. Quickly, the others followed him. By now it turned out that Carter had been right. It was getting quite windy and the trees around them were being bent in all directions. First raindrops came down on them and Samantha shivered at the feel of the cold water. Slowly the door in front of them opened and she curiously looked up. A man of about 30 was standing in front of them, behind him a younger woman. On the first look he seemed completely normal to her but then she saw a necklace around his neck. What had seemed like a simple amulet at first now began to take shape in her mind and she recognized it as a Goa'Uld symbiote, carved from the finest wood.

-----

Quickly, trying not to look too shocked, she poked the Colonel in the side. "I know." He whispered. Although this was definitely not the right situation for it, she let out a sigh. She blushed as she realized her CO had noticed. He looked straight into her eyes and she noticed that sweet smile in them. She didn't know how he did it but he was the only person in the Galaxy she knew who was able to smile like that. The voice of the villager woke them from their trance. "What do you want?" His voice was deep and unfriendly and Carter noticed in Jonas' face that he was surprised. She had to admit the man had kindof shocked her too, seeing that usually the people from other worlds either aimed weapons at them right away or welcomed them. This man didn't look like he was *ever* keen on visitors. "Oh, we just decided to drop by and ask if we could come in, ya know. It's kinda chilly out here." The Colonel said, but quickly realized that he should've left his sarcasm be, as the villager's face visibly hardened. "We don't want visitors. Where are you from?" he asked. "Ummm... Earth? We're *Ta'Uri*." Jonas said, not sure whether it'd be better to talk or be quiet. She couldn't blame him. Something was strange about that man. He didn't look very strong, but his voice and the mere coldness in his eyes made her shiver. The man was quiet now and for a few seconds it seemed like there was no sound at all, apart from the howling of the wind in the trees surrounding them. "Ok look, will you *please* let us in? We're not gonna hurt'ya." O'Neill said. "No. No Tau'Ri." The man replied, his mouth twisted like an old piece of wood, "You are tok Goa'Uld. You are enemies to our Gods. Never would I let a bunch of shol'va and.." he pointed at Teal'c, "*him* be guest in my house. Leave!" With that he slammed the door right into their faces. "Well that was a bit of an overreaction, don'tcha think?" Jack said, still more shocked than he wanted to admit. "Yeah well sir, that wasn't normal at all. These people were *clearly* not Jaffa, so why..." Jonas cut her off. "Didn't you guys see the necklace he was wearing? I guess some... `snakeass'", he grinned at O'Neill at the use of his *new* word, "just made them believe they're Gods." "Hmm I guess you're right. So what are the plans now? Either we go around to get more doors slammed in our faces or we get back to the Gate fer now, what do you say?" "Sir, with all due respect, but I doubt that's even possible." With that she nodded into the direction of the storm which had all the while only gotten worse.

-----

"God, I knew this was a bad idea." O'Neill murmured as they walked. They'd decided to go find some kinda shelter to stay in until the storm had past. By now the cold droplets on Sam's face had become much harsher and with each step she felt like somebody was slapping her face and her entire body. Leaves were whirling through the air and occasionally you could see a piece of wood or dirt flying by. Although the team was holding on to each other tightly, Carter was getting worried they wouldn't make it. "There's a cave over there!" she heard Teal'c yell. He was almost creaming the words, yet to her they seemed like a mere whisper. She didn't see the cave, so she followed them blindly, trying to hang on to Jonas who was right in front of her. Teal'c though, as excited as anyone about the newfound shelter, decided to walk faster, pulling Jonas behind him. At the very same time, a piece of wood stroke Sam's leg causing her to cry out. For just a matter of seconds she lost grip of Jonas as she fell. She got up again right away, the Colonel still behind her. But she couldn't find Jonas anymore. Him and Teal'c had to be right in front of them but through the blast of the rain and dirt coming at her she couldn't see anything in front of her. With a desperate cry she tried to tell Jack. "Colonel I can't find hi..." The Colonel probably hadn't heard her words anyway but right now it didn't matter because she didn't get a chance to finish her sentence, as yet a larger piece of bark hit her head and she lost consciousness.

-----

After they'd lost Jonas and Teal'c it had been hard to find a proper shelter. The storm hadn't gotten any better, and having the still unconscious Carter on one's back didn't exactly make it easier either. Jack had wandered around aimlessly with her for what seemed like hours. After the longest time he had finally found a little hut in the middle of the forest. It had seemed like a miracle to him to find it empty and yet intact. But for now he frankly didn't really care. He closed the door behind them and locked it tightly with a couple of wood logs he had found right next to it. After that he had gently placed Carter on the ground. She was still unconscious and the piece of bark that'd hit her before had left an ugly cut on her forehead. Well aware of how cold it was he took off his jacket anyway and placed it under her head to make her a little more comfortable. Only then he got up to look around the room. `Well, it does have a few homey touches.' He thought to himself sarcastically. Although it was almost entirely dark he noticed that the room had a single window on one side which was *luckily* covered with a couple of fallen trees that prevented the cold air to penetrate. He also noticed a little chimney and his face lit up at the sight. This couldn't get so bad, he thought. Being stuck in a little hut with a chimney together with Carter. It was cold. The thought kind of excited him and he let out a giggle which surprised him somehow. He took some of the logs from the door and placed them in the chimney to make a fire.

-----

As she woke up, Carter noticed that it was quiet around her. First she thought the ice-cold wind or the hit on her head may have had an effect on her ears, but then she thought she heard fire crackling in the background. Finally she sat up and blinked a few times to adjust to the dim light. A wave of pain flooded her head and she let out a moan as she touched her forehead. She felt along her forehead and noticed that she had a cut and was bleeding. Suddenly she felt a hand gently touch her shoulder. She winced surprised and quickly turned her head, only to look into the deep, familiar eyes of her colonel. "Colonel," she sighed, "you kinda scared me for a second." "How are ya Carter? You feeling better? You were unconscious for quite some time." His voice sounded concerned, yet it was warm and comforting and it immediately made her feel better. "I'm ok," she said touching her head again, "but where are we?" "We're in a little hut. I wandered through that storm for quite some time. It's a miracle we're still alive." He said, smiling at her through his brown eyes. "Thank you, sir." She said, sinking back against the wall. "So what are we gonna do now? The way it seems to me right now we'll be stuck here for quite some time." He couldn't help but grin at the thought. Yeah, they'd be stuck here for quite some time. *What* a shame. "Sir?" her voice shook him out of his thoughts. "Yeah?" She looked at him and blushed knowing he felt exactly the same as she did. She had to admit to herself that it was indeed a nice thought to be *stuck* here together with him. For what seemed like ages they sat there in the glow of the fire, going after their thoughts. Neither of them said a word until Sam broke the ice with a question. "Sir, seeing that we're..." "Ah!" he said, "no sirs. Nobody can hear us here, we're not at home and there's a typhoon outside blowing around entire trees. Let's just leave the `sirs' and `colonels' at home this time, ok?" he grinned at her, his brown teddy eyes glowing wickedly in the half-dark. "Ok." Sam said, "Well what I wanted to ask you... *Jack* was.... well... during that time loop... did you ever do anything... you know... crazy??" She had wanted to know that ever since they'd turned off the loop and couldn't contain the curiosity resonating in her voice. He grinned at her again. Although that look sometimes confused her she couldn't help but notice the warm feeling that went through her entire body like a huge wave. "Well, Teal'c and I did do some crazy things," he said, stretching out a bit, "I biked through the base, did pottery... oh and we played golf through the Stargate!" At that she broke into a fit of giggles. "And else?" she asked curious. "Whatcha mean?" he asked, looking down, trying to hide the redness that was building on his face. Jack O'Neill does not blush, he thought, but that thought didn't help him anymore because Carter had already noticed and moved closer to him. "C'mon Jack, tell me!" she said. "Yeah well... if you *really* wanna know. In the last loop I... umm.... *we*... kissed." His voice had gotten quieter as he finally said it. He admitted to himself that he was kinda embarrassed about his sudden initiative back then. He hadn't even given her time to react, scared he might not like her reaction. Now he could've slapped himself for it. "You..." she sat there staring at him, her mouth wide open. First he feared she might get up or move away from him but instead a wide smile formed on her lips. "Heh. Well..." he said, now looking right into her eyes cheekily. She playfully hit him on the chest and they both started laughing. "Ow." He said with played pain. "You can't do that to your commanding officer!" he was still grinning. After that there had been another silence as their smiles slowly died down. Maybe she didn't take it as well after all, he thought. "I'm sor..." he turned to look at her but stopped in the middle of his sentence as he noticed the look in her eyes. It was different from usually and he wasn't sure how to read it. He read a strange sadness in them but also love... *love*? Naw.. that couldn't be. Suddenly she moved closer to him, still gazing into his eyes. Their heads moved closer and closer and as he was just about to close his eyes shutting out all thoughts that told him it was wrong she opened her mouth to speak. "How... how was it?" she whispered. He could feel her warm breath against his lips and was almost too startled to reply. "I think... I think you should find out yourself." Just as he'd finished she put her lips on his. Who the hell cared about regulations anymore? She loved this man and she had read the same love in his eyes too. His lips were so soft and for a very long second she thought she may loose consciousness again. She thought herself lucky that the Colonel put his arm around her to support her. She didn't want this kiss to end, so she tried to slow down time in her head and burn this moment in her brain forever. How warm the touch of his hand, and how soft his lips were. At that moment she realized what she loved about this man so much. He wasn't the harsh, sarcastic colonel he always played. No. He was gentle, and sweet on the inside. Oh she loved him so much. As they broke apart he gazed into her eyes. "Sam I love you." He said. All of a sudden a wave of happiness and of sadness hit her at the same time. "You know this isn't right. You know it's against regu..." "Oh to hell with the regulations." He whispered and kissed her again. "I love you too Jack." Samantha said weakly.

-----

The next morning he woke up having no idea where he was. Only as he felt a familiar heaviness against his body he remembered the night before. He looked down at the blonde beauty that had slept all night with her head on his chest. After they'd finally told each other about their love they'd talked for hours about the incident with the Tok'Ra, his past relationship with Laira, back then when he'd thought himself lost on that damn planet forever and a lot of other un-important junk. `Unimportant junk...' he repeated in his head. Before last night he'd often not been able to sleep because of that `unimportant junk'. It didn't matter now. They'd be ok. They just had to keep it from going to the public and they'd be fine. Nobody had to find out. He felt like the happiest man alive. Carter suddenly opened her eyes and noticing where her head was placed she was about to pull back. Then she remembered the night before and just smiled. "'morning Jack." She said, looking up at him. "*good* morning sweetie... I mean Major!" he said cheeky. "*Major* sweetie if you please." She said with played seriousness. Then she got up. "Storm seems to be over, huh?" she asked. "Darn." The Colonel said with a grin on his face. He didn't seem to regret the night before and neither did she. After all it had taken them almost 5 years to get what they wanted and they'd be alright somehow. It was such a relief to know he loved her too. "Well I'm hungry," Jack said, still smiling, "but we gotta find the others, so we should get outta here." "Wait a minute, *sir*." Sam added and snaked her arms around her Colonel to kiss him. "You forgot your good morning kiss." "Hmm.. that's new," he grinned, "but definitely something I could get used to." Together they took away the wood logs he had blocked the door with the night before and together they walked outside into the forest. It was much lighter outside than he'd remembered from the day before. The storm had ended and for the first time on this planet he even thought to hear some birds chirping. "Let's go my camping girl." He said cheekily as they began to march through the woods. Not much time passed until they'd already found Teal'c and Jonas. Compared to themselves, these two looked pretty frozen. "Good morning campers," he said sounding happier than he'd intended, "how didja sleep?" "Fantastic." Jonas said looking at him darkly. Teal'c angled his head a bit, looked at Sam and Jack and grinned the slightest grin. Sam noticed and blushed. "You seem to have had it warmer than Jonas Quinn and I, O'Neill." He said. "Yea we umm.... found this little hut and it happened to have a chimney..." he said but realized exactly what Teal'c had meant. "Anyway let's get going." He added and trudged quickly up front to get a bit of space between them. "Didja guys find anything that could explain that man's behaviour yesterday?" Sam asked. "Well yeah," Jonas said, "we stayed in this little cave over night and were lucky enough to find some ancient papers. We've got them all with us, I'll translate the rest of them as soon as we get back home." He added proudly. Sam nodded at him to continue. "Well so far I've only got a bit but we know now that the people on this planet call themselves the Tok Tau'Ri which means..." "...against humans." Sam concluded surprised. "Yeah. We also found out that the people think of the Goa'Uld as Gods because the symbiotes give them perfect health. I don't think they know of the side-effects though." "Such as getting their brains taken over and the whole I'm-evil-`cause-I-can-glow-with-my-eyes number?" Jack said as he turned around to face them. He still had a stupid grin on his face. The sarcasm was his personal side-effect, though this time it wasn't because he had to hide from his own feelings. This time he was just happy. As he went through the Gate this time he knew that everything was by far better now. He winked at Carter as they stepped on the ramp on the other side and she smiled at him.
