Sam walked into the dark living room. She had woken up to find Jack gone. The fire provided very little illumination so she jumped with surprise as she heard someone move on one of the couches. Her hand automatically went to her hip and she cursed herself for having left her gun in a drawer in the bedside table. Then her eyes adjusted to the light and she realized that it was just Jack, holding her battered guitar and staring into the flames in the fireplace.

"I didn't know you played." She said and he turned to her with a ghost of a smile on his lips.

"Consequence of a misspent youth." Sam walked to him and sat down on the couch.

"Play me something." Jack looked at her in thought and then his fingers started strumming. After a moment he began to sing.

Lost boys and golden girls
Down on the corner and all around the world
Lost boys and golden girls
Down on the corner and all around
All around the world

It doesn't matter where they're going
Or wherever they've been
'Cause they've got one thing in common it's true
They'll never let a night like tonight go to waste
And let me tell you something
Neither will you
Neither will you

We gotta be fast
We were born out of time
Born out of time and alone
And we'll never be as young as we are right now
Running away and running for home
Running for home

It doesn't matter where they're going
Or wherever they've been
'Cause they've got one thing in common it's true
They'll never let a night like tonight go to waste
And let me tell you something
Neither will you
Neither will you
Neither will you

Lost boys and golden girls
Down on the corner and all around the world
Lost boys and golden girls
Down on the corner and all around
And all around the world

When the last notes died away, Sam looked at Jack with tears in her eyes.

"There was so much loneliness in that song." The colonel put down the guitar and wiped at the moisture.

"Yes, but there was also so much hope. You're my Golden Girl, Sam." She smiled at him brilliantly.

"Well then let me find you, Lost Boy." She took his hand and led him to the bedroom.
