AUTHOR'S NOTES: I apologise to anybody ever having to read this. I know I'm mad, but I blame it on a lack of chocolate and Demon Faith.

A calm and tranquil morning,
Not a cloud blocked the sun.
But the quiet and still,
Very soon will
Be disturbed by SG1.

Daniel had his medication,
O'Neill his baseball cap,
Teal'c was bent
Under four large tents,
And Carter had the map.

Depsite their years of travelling
Trough the Earth Stargate,
Only she
Could reasonably
Map read and navigate.

They hiked for miles and miles.
They trekked for hours and hours.
They didn't complain,
Survived the rain
And continued through the showers.

Their first main obstacle
Was a tiny babbling brook.
Carter jumped it,
The ground she hit,
And Daniel couldn't look.

He crossed the water slowly,
Teal'c passed with ease.
That just left Jack,
With his large rucksack
That reached down past his knees.

With false military bravado,
He swaggered and he jumped.
Jack tripped and fell,
He sank to hell,
And his head he bumped.

Teal'c their guardian angel,
With super-human strength,
Would fight to save
Them from the grave,
He'd go to any length.

He plucked Jack from the water
And lowered him to the ground.
Sam hoped and prayed
The breath he made
Meant he was coming round.

Jack's eyes they flickered open,
Sam warned him not to speak.
His false display
Meant he would stay
In Janet's care next week.

Whilst Jack was thinking desperately
Things couldn't get worse than that.
Daniel didn't own
A mobile 'phone
And Sam's battery was flat.

They realised they were stranded,
Alone and without aid.
No help for Jack,
No road or tack,
Just a lonely forest glade.

They weren't expected back at base
For another week.
No rescue team
Would search the stream,
Or SG1 would seek.

The Colonel need treatment
A bandage for his head.
If it was bound,
He'd be safe and sound,
Or else he could be dead.

Sam approached him with the medkit.
"Oh for crying out loud.
There is no pain!"
He cried in vain,
Then howled and howled and howled.

Jack was looking sheepish.
Daniel looking smug.
Jack full of doubt
Couldn't get out
The hole which he had dug.

Sam as a friend of Janet,
Knew the doctor stuff best.
Ordered O'Neill
To stop and heal
And told him he should rest.

That news quickly removed
Daniel's subtle smirk.
As Jack was worse,
Sam as his nurse,
He had twice the work.

For five more days they camped there,
By that fateful spot.
They had no coffee,
Made do with toffee,
Since Daniel drank the lot.

Jack ordered everyone 'round
>From his comfy sleeping bag.
But as you might see
Inactivity
Can be an awful drag.

They argued and they quarreled,
They smiled and they had fun.
Jack was sarcastic,
It was fantastic,
A treat for SG1.

On the last night of their trip,
Sam crept out from the camp.
Away from heat
And food to eat,
She walked into the damp.

She was a little confused
Since she'd seen another side,
To an almost unreal
Jack O'Neill,
She had to run and hide.

The problem was he'd been too nice
And kind to only her.
She decided to find
Some piece of mind,
And in Daniel confer.

In his tent: no movement.
He was not awake.
Back from her walk,
Sam needed to talk,
So she'd give him a shake.

Daniel wasn't sleeping soundly,
His fevered mumblings grew.
He cried "Oh Sam!
I'm sorry I am
Falling in love with you!"

Sam paused, not breathing, time stood still.
Her eyes were filled with tears.
The only man,
Thee only Dan,
To take away her fears.

The one thing she was scared of,
The thing for which she'd pray,
To God above
So that her love
Was accepted some day.

Beneath the twinkling stars at night
I perfect place to start.
To have and to hold,
To then unfold
The story of her heart.

Awakening at first light,
Daniel and Sam's peace.
Jack stopped to stare,
Said "I don't care!"
And let tension increase.

It was time to get packed up,
To start on their way through
The shrubs and trees
And flowers and bees,
That turned Daniel's nose blue.

They started all because
Jack said he was better.
The truth to tell,
His heart had fell
Like a crumpled old love letter.

He stalked ahead with Teal'c,
Making his last stand,
On a feeble whim,
But behind him,
The others were holding hands.

Several hours later,
They were back at the SGC.
The couple now
Wondered how
Jack avoided the infirmary.

He was unusually silent
In a sulky state.
He didn't know
The two would go
That night on a date.

Both Sam and Daniel promised that
They'd help Jack recover.
Remove the stress,
Friendship express,
Through their love for each other.

A tale of loving friendship?
A story told for laughter?
A simple rhyme
Once upon a time,
Ends happily ever after.
