AUTHOR'S NOTES: My friend Demon Faith said I could never write an AU story, let alone one in rhyme. I guess I proved her right!

'SG1, you have a goal!
Bring back the weapons that they stole.
See if the Gou'ald play a major role!'
With that they stepped through the wormhole.

Swirling, twirling, fluttering light,
A shifting reality's glow of white.
A scary and bewildering sight,
An alternate Earth ruled by the night.

Apophis, ruler of the dead.
The story's true, it's been re-read.
In this world he's the king instead,
'Well that's unfortunate!' O'Neill said.

Apophis, ruler over all.
Earth is at his beck and call.
Pride always comes before a fall,
But not necessarily in this hall.

The Gou'ald they always like to boast,
To prove their lives are worth the most.
Daniel turned white like a ghost,
As he saw Apophis needed a host.

'Ha! I can see your fear,
But I would rather keep you here.
The knowledge I know you revere,
You'll help us with, or death is near.'

'You are wrong again as I
Will never help, I'd rather die!'
Bad choice of words, I'll tell you why,
He hit the floor, with his final cry.

His final cry, or so they thought,
To a sarcophagus he was then brought.
Carter's face with tears was wrought
As once again, Daniel's life was bought.

'He'll help me yet, despite his strife.
I can always threaten Carter's life.'
He turned and pulled out a long knife,
'Or that of his one time wife.'

Daniel jumped up in despair,
'Who the hell put me in there?!'
Descending from her golden stair,
Ammonet's eyes began to glare.

'You will help us, yes you will,
Your love for me is in you still.
If that does not, your soft heart fill,
Then your friends instead I'll kill!'

'No!' cried Sam in dismay,
'Don't believe a word she'll say!
Maybe it's better off this way,
Just say goodbye and that's OK.'

Poor Sam, she tried to be so brave,
This whole world she'd tried to save.
The message on her face was grave.
'Don't let her make you her slave.'

Jack sighed once and looked around,
Daniel was staring at the ground.
Not looking at the wife he'd found,
He knew where his heart was bound.

Daniel's eyes then flashed with hate,
'Our meeting was not fate.
You planned it with your own Stargate,
To change the wormhole's normal state.

You did this 'cause you thought I'd do,
Exactly what she wants me to.
There's tougher things that I've been through,
I'm not the Daniel that she knew.'

Apophis laughed and turned to Jack,
'Your young friend will easily crack.
Strength of mind is what he'll lack,
So don't expect to ever come back!'

He struck Jack swiftly, hit him hard.
Tore his limbs like scraps of card.
Tarnished his record, yet untarred,
Scorned Daniel's pain that showed unbarred.

List'ning to Daniel's denial,
Teal'c was plotting meanwhile.
Smiling an important smile,
He crept to the 'Gate and began to dial.

Despite not uttering a word,
The Jaffa guards, footsteps still heard.
Reasonably they all concurred,
That trouble still was being stirred.

One sharp movement, one short dash.
One decision bold but rash.
One Jaffa staff weapon's flash,
One Jack O'Neill pile of ash.

One Jack though had to remain.
One Jack there without the pain.
One Jack saw his body slain.
Two realities, O'Neill's bane.

Carter rushed up and asked 'Sir?
Are you who I thought you were.
Yet stranger things do occur,
Daniel's to whom I do refer.'

As Sha're died, Daniel would kneel,
Trying to hide the pain he'd feel.
But he did not want her to heal,
The pain was there but not quite real.

'Daniel! Hear me as I breathe,
Tell them the demon had to leave.
When I'm gone, do not grieve,
You're not my Daniel I perceive.'

Daniel coldly turned and went
To tell them of Sha're's repent.
Though 'twas the message he'd been sent,
He did not see how much it meant.

Jack was worried quite a lot,
As he obviously forgot.
Both Gou'ald had been shot,
By an alternate Teal'c who served them, not.

Daniel went off to be alone,
Sitting on a golden throne
That was Sha're's for she did own,
Everything from air to stone.

Sam was quite annoyed by this,
One chance that she could not miss.
One moment of total bliss,
One look at Daniel and one kiss.

Now Daniel was quite afraid,
By the affection she'd displayed.
He returned what she had made,
And all this world began to fade.

'Oh Daniel, can't you see?
What you really mean to me?'
'Sha're's death has set me free,
Now I know our destiny.'

'Please tell me, how did you know?
How to finally let go?'
'It was because I love you so,
But Jack's calling, we'd better go.'

Sam thought about a world of dreams,
Where nothings really as it seems.
'Our love's not like that, see it gleams
As a ray of hope for the SG teams.'

Daniel smiled as he started to run,
'I once thought Sha're was the one.
But now my heart's finally been won
By an airforce girl, my life's begun.'

Activating a crystal dome,
A wandering light began to roam.
Its touch was magic, a sparkling foam,
That sent SG1 back home.

'SG1! What was the crime?
Why all of the dirt and grime?
But that can wait, 'til another time.
For now let's finish off this rhyme!'
