Sorry to anybody who's already read part one, I kinda tacked part two onto the end.

Indogo Ersaf

"Here we go again," he thought as he watched Daniel pouring over the engravings on the sides of the pedestal.

From the MALP transmission, the statue had looked promising: a six feet high woman carrying a staff that Daniel was sure would lead to some signs of civilisation. In fact, he had commented, the staff might have contained something valuable or may even have been a piece of advanced technology. Hammond had seemed quite keen to let them go after he'd made that observation.

Unfortunately, the statue was...well...a statue.

Sure, it was a pretty statue but basically, that was all it was.

Hell, they'd been there hours. Teal'c, of course, was still retaining his dignified "don't mess with the Jaffa" stance near the gate but even Carter was getting bored, pacing backwards and forwards behind Daniel, occasionally swinging her weapon, practically begging for a goa'uld to appear.

He kicked a stray stone from the dusty ground and watched it bounce across the floor, raising little clouds of dirt as it went.

"Indogo ersaf..." Daniel muttered, "Indogo ersaf..."

"Daniel, are you nearly done?" Jack whined.

"Indogo ersaf...of course!"

Daniel grinned triumphantly and Carter looked at him sceptically, "Of course what?"

"Indogo ersaf," Daniel enthusiastically explained, "adjoining thought."

"So you can read the rock?" Jack kicked another stone.

Still grinning like a maniac he traced his finger over the ancient carvings, "May the light of Ersavior bring understanding and knowledge through the adjoining thought."

Nothing happened.

"It's just a statue isn't it Daniel," Sam tried desperately not to grin.

"Um...it's a really old statue?" he reasoned.

"Ok," Jack turned towards Teal'c, "Let's go home campers."

Jack sat down next to Teal'c in the briefing room, rubbing his arm gingerly where moments before the good doctor had been kind enough to jab a needle.

Hammond looked at the pair, "Major Carter and Doctor Jackson..."

"Are still in the infirmary, sir."

"I do not feel there is sufficient information to convey that would require their presence," Teal'c stated calmly.

"So the statue?"

"Was a statue, sir." Jack couldn't help but grin.

"Ah. No signs of civilisation?"

"None whatsoever. We went, we saw, we bought the T-shirt..."

"I believe what O'Neill is trying to say is that there was no outcome of this mission General Hammond."

"OW!"

"Colonel is something wrong?"

"What? Oh, sorry sir," he rubbed his arm again, "It just twinges a bit that's all."

"Perhaps you should report to the infirmary?"

Even Jack new a rhetorical question when he heard one, "Yes sir."

"Alright. Dismissed."

Still rubbing his arm he headed to the infirmary.

sSs

Sitting on the bed he watched Fraiser scolding Carter as she wound a bandage around her arm.

"Sam, I told you not to tense your arm."

"I'm sorry but my arm didn't want a needle."

"You still shouldn't have tensed it."

Janet rolled her eyes and turned to him, "So what's wrong colonel?"

"My arm's killing me."

"With respect, sir, you just had a shot."

"Well, it hurts more than normal."

He could see Carter grinning from the bed opposite as she pulled down her T-shirt sleeve.

"Let me see," Janet directed, "Roll up your sleeve."

He did as he was told, fearing the tiny woman with the needles greatly.

"Does it hurt if I do this?" She prodded his arm.

"OW!" the cry fell in unison.

"Sam?"

Carter shook her head, "Sorry, I got a twinge.

Janet shrugged and turned her attention back to O'Neill, "What about here?"

"Yes!" he could see Carter biting her lip in agony opposite him.

"Well, I'm sorry sir, you'll just have to put up with it. Did you tense your arm?"

He didn't listen, instead feeling a rising hunger in his stomach.

Sam slid off the bed, "Janet, I'm gonna go get something to eat."

"Yeah, me too."

sSs

The commissary was practically empty when they entered, save the few individuals who were on world and not working. Sam headed over to the desert section, after gazing at the hardly desirable food at the counter and Jack followed her, watching the small amount of people in the room like a hawk.

He averted his stare to look at the Jell-O on the counter, wondering whether to have red or blue, "I think I'm gonna have..."

"Blue, sir?"

"Um...yeah," his stare had confusion written all over it as he picked one up before he rationalised that he normally had blue Jell-O.

"Lucky guess, sir," she replied, mimicking his actions as he picked up a fork and headed to the furthest table.

She sat down next to him, slouching in her seat as he stared at the contents of her tray, "A fork Carter?"

It was well known that Colonel O'Neill would regularly eat Jell-O with a fork and she stared down at her own in puzzlement, "I suppose I fancied a change."

"Yeah?" he began to poke at the desert with his fork, watching the shimmering blueness bounce back as he poked it.

"Do you always play with your food?" Carter's head was bent as she too prodded her desert with the fork she was holding.

"Yeah, I do."

"What?" She looked at him in bewilderment.

"Yeah, I do" he repeated.

"Do what?" he didn't like the look on her face as she said that.

"You asked me if I always play with my food."

"No I didn't," she replied.

"Oh," he resumed poking his Jell-O; "I must be hearing things."

sSs

They were waiting to be briefed on an upcoming mission, with Teal'c staring mildly at the boards in front of them as Daniel set up his slides. Hammond tapped the table quietly, waiting for the fumbling archaeologist to begin whilst Jack and Sam sat opposite each other, the latter in dress uniform having just returned from a meeting with another General, regarding work from the pentagon.

They'd hardly seen anything of each other for the past couple of days and nothing had been said on what she liked to call the blue Jell-O incident.

"Won't be a minute General," Daniel called cheerily from his post at the other end of the room whilst dropping the tangled mess of wires that connected the pieces of equipment together.

Teal'c raised his eyebrow and Hammond sighed, "Major, could you assist Doctor Jackson."

"Yes sir," she grinned and stood up, walking over to Daniel and connecting the pieces of equipment quickly.

"Thanks Sam."

"No problem."

Jack watched her walk over to the archaeologist sullenly, wondering whether it was the Jell-O incident that had made her reject her usual seat next to him.

She walked back to her seat using her best, dress uniform shoes walk. Suddenly she found herself changing direction en route, now taking the chair next to her CO before she sat down delicately and crossed her legs.

He didn't say anything, but just grinned at the back of her head when the general wasn't looking.

Daniel began, "SG-3 found some interesting blah, blah, blah regarding a goa'uld posing as the Egyptian pharaoh Ramses. Ramses lived in Egypt during the blah, blah, blah..."

She really didn't mean to but sometimes Daniel's topics became so boring; she switched off and began gazing at O'Neill's reflection in the window. He looked as bored as she was.

"God I wish it was Sam talking, I like her voice more than Daniel's."

She jolted in her chair, looking around her as wildly as she could without raising too much attention, her face flushing.

Unfortunately, Teal'c didn't turn off when he got bored, he became more observant, "Is something afflicting you Major Carter?"

Nobody seemed to have heard the voice.

"Besides, she looks way cuter, especially in a skirt."

She jolted again, "Yeah Teal'c, I'm fine," Daniel looked a little disgruntled, "Just a cramp that's all, sorry."

"Very well," Hammond frowned, "Continue Doctor Jackson.

Daniel carried on, "As I was saying, the Egyptians believed blah, blah, blah..."

Damn, she was doing it again; she should really try to concentrate.

"Very nice legs..."

She jolted again.

"Major?"

"Cramp again, sorry."

"Maybe you should report to the infirmary?"

"I'll be fine sir, I think it's gone."

"Very well, continue..."

Now Daniel looked annoyed, but, nevertheless he carried on, "Ramses blah, blah, blah."

There was something very familiar about the voice...

"The things I could do with those legs and this table...

"Colonel!" Her face was now bright red.

"Major Carter, explain yourself!" Hammond was getting angry.

"I'm sorry sir, he...he kicked my chair."

O'Neill just looked at her, confused.

"Doctor Jackson, if you'd like to continue and I hope we'll have no more interruptions!"

She felt herself blushing even more.

"Right," she thought, "Two can play at that game."

"Carter that is so immature."

She glanced around inconspicuously; surprised again that nobody had heard the Colonel's outbursts.

"Why can I hear you?" she thought desperately.

"You can hear me!"

She heard a resounding clunking sound as the colonel, who had until that point had his feet resting on the back of her chair, kicked the floor in surprise.

"Colonel?" Now the General was starting to sound really annoyed.

"Oh crap no!" He practically yelled, audibly to the rest of the group.

"What appears to be the problem, Colonel?" Hammond practically growled.

"Daniel you idiot!"

"What?" Daniel looked more than a little bewildered, his blue puppy dog eyes taking on the innocent look behind his glasses.

"Sir calm down."

"No, Carter, I will not calm down!" He sounded a little hysterical.

"Major Carter did not tell you to calm down, O'Neill," Teal'c responded calmly.

"No, she didn't tell me to calm down."

"Oh, god...I thought it."

"Colonel, Major, if you would be so kind as to explain yourselves?"

Jack glared at Daniel, "Indogo ersaf my arse."

Daniel looked a little confused before the puzzle connected; "The statue..."

sSs (FOR ANYONE WHO'S ALREADY READ PART ONE, PART TWO STARTS HERE)

It was definitely getting worse. Every time he thought of something or felt something she would feel it. She knew exactly what he was thinking at every moment of the day and, no doubt he could reciprocate, seeing exactly what she was thinking too.

That made it very hard, having to guard exactly what she was thinking all the time. The minute she let her guard down they could end up with a situation like that in the briefing room...She shuddered, at least he hadn't been as perceptive to her thoughts as she'd been to his at that moment in time.

Lying on the infirmary bed she stared at the ceiling, hoping to god that they'd be able to sort this problem out and sort it out soon.

"I know what you're hoping Carter."

"I know you do sir."

"I feel rejected."

She could almost see his face in the dark and the thought provoked a small grin.

"Hey, it's not that bad. I mean...that moment in the briefing room was embarrassing sure but think of all the advantages."

"Like a second opinion on everything?" God, she was starting to think like him.

"I heard that too Carter," he called out to her mind, "Thinking like me ain't that bad."

"Sir, can you stop thinking for a moment. I want to get some sleep." The embarrassing thing was, she could feel the emotions he was feeling that were making him grin.

"Sure Carter."

"Thank-you."

"But, just to warn you, I can't be responsible for anything I may dream about."

Oh god no, what if they shared dreams...

"I know, won't it be great."

Sam stared at the ceiling, praying to any god that was up there that she didn't fall asleep to the tune of her usual but very memorable Jack O'Neill containing dreams.

Jack lay in his bed; picking up her prayer and grinning like a Cheshire cat in the dark.

Daniel looked at the pile of food that Teal'c had in amazement, watching the hungry Jaffa shovel it into his mouth. He ran his fingers through his brown hair, picking up the full cup of steaming coffee he had as he did so and taking a long swig.

"Is something bothering you Daniel Jackson?" Teal'c had postponed his meal long enough to get the question in, even managing a quick eyebrow before resuming his small feast.

Daniel smirked; it had been two days since the incident in the briefing room. Two days of extensive tests for two members of SG-1; two days of Janet being wound up by a certain Colonel with a major stick up his ass and two days of both Jack and Sam begging to be allowed to return to the planet had certainly taken it's toll. A general as stiff as George Hammond could have put up with them separately but now they were thinking alike they were horrendous.

He took another swig of his coffee, "I was just thinking about Jack and Sam."

"Indeed," Teal'c carried on after spooning another truckload of scrambled eggs and bacon into his mouth, "the problem at hand is very interesting."

"Yeah well, hopefully the problem can be resolved."

Teal'c looked up from his breakfast at a spot above Daniel's head, "Good morning O'Neill."

Jack grabbed a chair before sitting down, strategically placing his own breakfast on the table, "Good morning campers!"

He sounded very happy, Daniel was worried, "Jack, are you ok?"

Jack to had fallen in line with Teal'c and was devouring the meal in front of him, "Never better buddy."

"Has Janet given you new medication?" If Daniel could have gotten his eyebrow to extremes such as Teal'c was capable of he would have been obliged to use it at this moment.

"What makes you think that? I'm back on active duty, the sun is shining and here is the lovely Major Carter."

Sam sat down, also looking unusually happy, "Hi guys."

"Good morning Major Carter. Did you sleep well?" Teal'c inquired.

She glanced at Jack, "Yeah."

"No nightmares then?" Jack seemed to know something that Daniel wasn't sure he wanted to know.

"Oh," her face tinged a little, "no, I slept like a log."

"Good, good, good," Jack chuckled, "there's nothing like a good sleep to prep you for a mission."

Daniel stared for a minute at them both and then continued to gurgle down his coffee.

Suddenly Sam had a fit of hysterical giggles before biting her lip and taking a taking a sip of Jack's coffee.

"Is there something you find that amuses you Major Carter," Teal'c inquired, eyebrow raised.

"Oh, no Teal'c," she replied, blushing and placing Jack's coffee back on his tray.

Daniel couldn't help but notice Jack looking very innocently at his breakfast.

Rolling his eyes he turned to Teal'c, "As I was saying, the answer may be in the statue."

"Indeed, Daniel Jackson."

Daniel placed his empty coffee cup on the table, "I think it has something to do with Ersavior's light."

Sam giggled again and he turned round to see Jack staring at her meaningfully, with a grin on his face.

Suddenly it clicked, "If you two are going to take the mick out of me could you share it with Teal'c?"

"Sorry Daniel," Sam replied sheepishly, "It's not my fault, he keeps putting evil thoughts into my head."

"Yeah Dannyboy, sorry," he grinned again, "Carter just can't stop making me laugh at you."

"Sir!"

Teal'c raised his eyebrow again, "The sooner this problem is resolved may be the better, Daniel Jackson."

sSs

They stood in front of the gate, waiting for the signal that they could go.

Standing before the open wormhole, both Jack and Sam shared the same amazement they always felt as they watched the shimmering pool of improbability ahead of them whilst Daniel fumbled around with his gear and Teal'c lifted his staff weapon from a terrified looking air man.

Jack smiled and took a deep breath...

"Off we go campers," Sam finished, grinning as she wandered through the gate.

"Er...better do as the lady says guys," suggested Jack as he followed suit.

sSs

"Nine thousand nine hundred and ninety nine bottles of beer on the wall."

"I don't remember the statue being this far away from the gate," Sam stated, with gritted teeth.

"Nine thousand nine hundred and ninety nine bottles of beer."

"Oh, it was definitely this far." Daniel replied, watching the innocent look on Jack's face and trying desperately not to laugh.

"Are you absolutely sure?"

"You take one down and pass it around..." Jack grinned to himself, watching the annoyance on Carter's face happily whilst he scuffed across the dusty floor in apparent silence to the others.

"I am sure it will not be long now," comforted Teal'c.

"Nine thousand nine hundred and ninety eight bottles of beer on the wall!"

Trying desperately not to shoot the man behind her she too began scuffing the dusty floor.

sSs

"Are we nearly there yet?"

"No sir."

Finely tuned pause of about five seconds, "Are we nearly there yet?"

She sighed, "No sir."

"Oh...." another finely tuned pause, "are we nearly there yet."

"No we are nowhere near."

"Hmmm...."

"Can't you think of another question? Please."

He grinned at the back of her head, "Oh, ok."

She waited.

"Carter?"

"Yes sir." She gritted her teeth again.

"I'm sorry." She could feel his puppy dog eyes drilling into the back of her head and she smiled.

She carried on walking.

"Carter?"

"Yeah sir?"

"Are we nearly there yet?"

This time her teeth gritted together so hard they hurt, "Ask Daniel!" she yelled.

Daniel and Teal'c both looked at her, surprised that she had broken the silence.

"I would but then I'd have to open my mouth."

sSs

Daniel looked at the statue gingerly whilst the rest of SG-1 stood by.

He stared at the writing for a few moments, knowing full well that Jack was kicking up piles of dust just to annoy him.

"Well?"

"You'll have to hang on a minute."

"Well hurry up!" Jack was starting to sound really impatient.

"I'm not a walking translator you know."

Before Jack and Sam had even had time to think of a thought Teal'c had calmly replied, "I believe that you are indeed, Daniel Jackson."

He sighed and tuned his attention back to the carving, "May the light of Ersavior bring understanding and knowledge through the adjoining thought."

They waited...

Nothing happened.

"Deja vous..." Jack muttered dryly.

"Try it again Daniel, it didn't work."

Daniel sighed and began, "May the light..."

"Wait!" Jack was grinning like a madman, "I had no idea you was going to say that."

sSs

She'd never been good at twiddling her thumbs. Well, she had to face it, since the day she'd popped into the world she'd been doing something, whether it was laughing at the blobby shapes above her cot or stunning her fifth grade science teachers, she'd never been someone to sit around doing nothing.

Except for now.

Now she was sitting in her bedroom, which she hadn't been to for a week, staring at the wallpaper she'd meant to change three months ago.

The snowflakes that indicated the end of the video in the VCR glittered hungrily over the screen.

She smiled sadly; even the snowflakes on the TV screen had used to amaze her; now they just cast funny shapes over the mangy wallpaper.

She sighed and slid off the bed, wandering aimlessly down the stairs and into the kitchen.

It wasn't even that she didn't have anything to do. She had tonnes of work to file but she hadn't even changed when she'd gotten back home. The car keys were still lying where she'd dropped them over eight hours ago.

She sighed again. Right now she didn't feel happy to have her mind back. She didn't feel that her thoughts were safe or that she could finally get some peace and quiet...

Hearing a car speed up her street she made up her mind, picking up the keys from their resting-place as she went.

Right now she was just feeling incredibly lonely.

Swinging the catch she opened the door, to find her CO standing on the other side, frozen in the process of knocking.

She grinned.

"Hiya Carter. Just came to see what you was doin..."

She smiled and moved out of the way to let him pass. Obviously she hadn't been the only lonely one.
