It had been three months since Daniel had ascended, but the atmosphere at the base was still damp, no one was sure how to act. Should they be happy that Daniel wasn't dead just higher up in life, or upset that they might not ever see him again? People had tried to join SG1 - Jack seemed to be getting his way though, he went to Hammond with thousands of reasons why each person shouldn't join. No one wanted a replacement for Jackson, but they needed a linguist. They had to find that out the hard way when Jack tried to communicate with a group of naked men on P4L 995. He managed to get Sam and Teal'c engaged on the first day of them being there.

"Colonel, Major, Teal'c this is Doctor Samantha Ray. She'll be joining you on your next mission." The General looked at Carter, she looked quite surprised, then he turned to Jack. He looked utterly confused. He just knew that as soon as he was alone Jack would be on to him- and he was right.

"General. Sir, you know I'm all for having another person on the team, we need one," He paused for a second to reminisce about their past experience "but maybe we should get someone with, well another name. Sam-Carter will get confused." He looked hopefully at his General.

"She's a smart girl, I'm sure she can handle it."

"Are you sure you want to call her a 'girl' you know how she feels about that, and you know she's always around the corner ready to jump on someone who says that." The General looked around sharply, he did know how she would have reacted if she had been around.

"P4T 013 is waiting for you" He smiled and strutted off, still looking around behind his shoulder, in case Sam decided to give him a little visit. There she was walking up from down the hall.

"Carter, what did you hear?"

"Nothing colonel. So did you talk to Hammond?" He looked so relieved.

"Yeah, we're off. Where's Doctor Ray?"

"I left her with Teal'c." They both burst out laughing and went together to the gate room. Teal'c was standing next to the young doctor looking very uncomfortable, although not as uncomfortable as she did. She only came up to his shoulders and felt completely intimidated by him. When Jack and Sam came up to them Teal'c relaxed a bit. Doctor Ray stood still, looking straight into Jacks eyes. She felt like she was cranking her neck the way she had to look up to them all.

"Doctor, this is Teal'c, Major Sam Carter and me Colonel O'Neill. We're off to P4..." He had no idea where they were going.

"T 013 sir. I've already been briefed on everything." She looked at him smugly.

"When was there a briefing?"

"This morning, only non of you turned up. So, we did a briefing without you."

"Sweet." Everyone stood there for a minute, not quite knowing what to say. "Well, lets go then!" He motioned for them to start dialling up the gate.

"This'll be so cool." Jack looked at Doctor Ray.

"Maybe she wont be too bad after all" Jack said to Teal'c.

"Indeed"

"Sir this is incredible, never mind guns, we should've brought cameras." Carter said looking at an enormous mountain, it had trees and waterfalls everywhere. It was so full of life and colour, "Looking at all this water makes me really, really thirsty."

"You think it's safe to drink? Jack asked looking at his reflection in the stream surrounding the mountain.

"There is only one way to find out O'Neill." Teal'c said.

"You're joking right?"

"I am." He turned his nose up at O'Neill and walked away over to the young Doctor, who was mesmerised by the beauty of it all. Teal'c felt the need to talk, he wanted to try and talk to the young doctor but didn't know what to say. "On Chulak there was a mountain, it resembled this one here." He looked down to the doctor.

"Is that where you come from, Chulak?"

"It is." He looked very pleased with himself, he had managed to start a conversation off, and he said more than two words.

"Um, Carter" The Colonel started to laugh at the Major. "If we are going back now, back to earth, where we have plenty of water, why are you bottling some up the now?" He had finally beaten the outstanding Doctor.

"Well, Sir, I just... Colonel?" Jack had started to walk away from her already. "Sir, you never know, this might not be water. And if we ever run out on Earth, we can..." She was interrupted.

"It's just a game to you Sam, isn't it. You can't loose. You always have to be right. Why can't you just let me win for once. Don't you think I deserve this, huh? All I've had to put up with, you're always right and it's not that you're right, you just don't give up, ever." He stopped to take a breath, but the Major had already started talking.

"Excuse me sir? You know, you can be so rude sometimes. I do give in, I spend my life giving into you because otherwise you're upset, or you start going on talking and talking, knowing full well no one's listening, but you do it anyway, if you can't win, you talk and talk and talk and YOU never give in, ever."

"I do too."

"No you don't."

"Yes I do!"

"Don't."

"Do!"

"Don't!"

"Do!"

"Don't!"

"Do!!"

"Don't!!"

"Carter, this is just proving my point, now listen to me, I out rank you so lets just go home, say I've won and that's that."

"This is so not over Sir." She started dialling up the gate and walked through, she was going to be in a very bad mood for the rest of the day, so was Jack for that matter.

"Ok Sir, you're free to go. Just be careful in future." Hammond stood up.

"I will do." He smiled at Doctor Fraiser and was just about to walk out of the infirmary when his face dropped. "Doctor. I think it would be better for me, if we didn't tell anyone about this." He was going a bit red looking at the doctor, who was trying to keep in her laughter.

"Of course sir." He walked out very red thinking nothing could be more embarrassing, when suddenly Major Carter walked around the corner.

"Sir, are you ok?" Asked the wide eyed Carter.

"Yes. I just had to pop into the infirmary, hurt my wrist."

"Oh, how did you do that?" The General had hoped she wouldn't ask, but she did so he knew their was no point lying to the smart Major.

He had wanted for some time to talk about his office being so small, but he couldn't just start saying that, so he took advantage of this question.

"I, em, I fell over in my office." The Major started laughing but seeing how offended he was she offered an apology. "That's ok, Major. But you see, my office is so small, I can hardly even get in there and, well I like to walk around when I'm on the phone. Only I am normally finished on the phone by the time I've reached the end of my desk, but I was on the phone to em, a, um someone special, and I wasn't really paying attention and I walked around my desk and tripped over the wire. It's really dangerous. I tried to get someone in about it, but of course we can't exactly have a carpenter walk in here just to make me a smaller table. Can we? And so I fell and sprained my wrist, Badly." Carter looked at him.

"Wow, Sir. Sounds like a real adventure." Hammond tilted his head.

"Were you listening to me major?"

"Yes, of course I was. You were telling me how you hurt your wrist. Then you went and, err, you went and," She looked at him hopelessly.

"I fell over in my office and then I went and started to tell you why it happened" He said depressingly.

"That's right. Um sir. You might not want to tell Jack. He gets a kick out of that sort of thing."

"Understood Major. Have you got the results from the water on P43 01T?"

"It's P4T 013, sir."

"Sure it is." He said "I was just," he saw her look. He knew there was no point making excuses.

"Yes, we did. It's plain water sir. Pure plain water." He nodded. "You know, I was wondering. P4T 013 really is such a beautiful place. It would be nice to go and take some photos of it, get some more of the water."

"I'm sure that can be arranged major."

"Thank you sir" She turned away and walked down the rest of the corridor alone. Jack walked around the corner.

"Major." He said.

"Yeah, whatever." she threw him a horrible look and brushed passed him, nearly pushing him right over.

"Oh come on, that's just pathetic."

"Yeah, well so is always having to win a stupid argument."

"Major. I never win, you just can't face it that I did for once."

"Yeah, by unfair means. You used ranks against me" he laughed to himself.

"I know." She stormed off knocking over a lieutenant on the way.

"Get over it" Jack gave him a hand up and patted the young man on the shoulder.

"This is so incredible sir. It's so beautiful. Why can't earth have them like this?" Sam walked around snapping her camera at all different plants and trees. The waterfall splashed around them.

"They do." Jack silently clenched his fists together, "I win again!". He didn't want another replay of what had happened last time they were here so he whispered it very quietly. It had taken days to stop Sam from punching him each time he walked around the corner.

"Yeah, but they just don't seem to have the beauty like this one sir. There's something about it. I can't explain it." She looked at him.

"You know Sam, for a scientist, who is so cleaver. You don't really know a lot do you? You can never explain anything." He looked at her with puppy dog eyes and smiled a cheeky smile.

"I know sir. I can't explain it." She gave herself a strange look and turned to the water.

"Sir." Carter poked O'Neill. In the distance they could see a silhouette coming towards them. As the person came closer they saw that it was a young woman, she had thick black hair, which was moving as if there was a strong wind, but there wasn't. O'Neill held his hand tightly on his gun, ready to draw in a seconds notice.

"Well, Ray, it's time to shine." O'Neill said, he couldn't help but laugh that he had managed to come up with something like that.

"Ok" She walked forward looking nervous. "Hi, I'm Doctor Samantha Ray. This is Colonel Jack O'Neill, Major Samantha Carter and Teal'c. Who are you?"

"Aura" Jack couldn't believe it,

"How come everyone always finds it so easy to communicate apart from me?" he whispered to Sam. She just ignored him.

"We're from the planet Earth" Ray continued, looking pleased that she was doing so well "we are explorers, we come to find friendship and trade technology."

"I'm from here and I am willing to share your friendship, though I don't think I have any technology to share with you." She scanned everyone from head to toe and smiled at them all.

"That's ok. Do you know anything about this mountain here?"

"No, I've never been over here before." She shifted the sand with her feet and moved over to the water. Doctor Ray followed her and continued to talk to her.

"It's safe to drink, right?" O'Neill asked Sam.

"Yep."

"Good, I'm thirsty." He took his flask out of his side pocket, knelt down and filled it up. "Wow, this is really good water." Sam looked down to him and took the flask from his hands.

"You're right. We should take some back for the General." She carried on drinking.

"Um, Carter. That's mine." She hesitated but eventually gave it back to him. She felt around in her bag.

"Damn, I forgot my flask." She plunged her hands into the water, it was so cold that it sent shivers down her spine and throughout her body. She brought it up to her lips and drank it, she felt like she was drinking gallons and gallons of it. The young woman walked over to her and bent down beside her.

"This is defiantly safe to drink?" the young woman asked.

"Yes. It's really good too." She looked at the water for a second then put her hands into it. "Aren't you going to have any?" Sam saw that the woman had just put her hands in and taken them out again.

"It's too cold. But you carry on drinking it. I want to have a look around this area a bit more." She stood up and walked away. Carter,

O'Neill, Teal'c and Ray were all bending over the lake drinking the water while Aura walked around and climbed trees that were near them.

"Come on people, we should head back"

"O'Neill, what about Aura, we can't leave with out her, well, don't we have to talk to her more or something like that?" asked Ray.

"Yeah, I suppose we should think about trading or taking her to meet the General, something like that" Jack turned to Carter.

"Yeah, something like that" Carter turned to Teal'c

"I do not see the point to this conversation." Jack looked so hurt and stormed off over to where Aura was trying to reach a flower up on a branch.

"Way to go Teal'c" Major Carter walked off and followed Jack. Doctor Ray just laughed to herself and went back to drinking the water, Teal'c copied.

"Yo, Teal'c, come look at this." Jack had obviously forgiven him, or forgotten all about it. "What is it?"

"I don't know, it's not like anything I've seen before."

"I have never come across this either. Do you think it's some kind of ruin O'Neill?"

"You're asking me?" He bowed his head down and shook it vigorously. "You know not to ask me, it's Daniel you should ask, if he was here."

They both stood in silence for a minute, as if in memory of him. Their silence was broken by a scream from the distance. They both ran as fast as they could over to the mountain and saw Doctor Ray lying on the floor unconscious.

"Get her to the infirmary" the General ordered. Five nurses were rushing around as they were being told what to do by Doctor Fraiser, who was kneeling over Ray as the bed was being pushed into the infirmary, "She's going into shock. She's in De-fib. Charge to 200.Clear. Charge to 300. Clear." She continued to press the paddles against Rays Chest. After 4 shocks one of the nurses shouted "she's out of De-fib." Janet wiped her forehead and brushed her hair out of her face. "Can you finish off here?"

"Yes Doctor." The male nurse walked over and placed a cold compress on Rays head. He patted it across her hair line and gently spoke to her.

"Colonel, what happened?"

"I don't know, we we're just talking, well actually we were standing not doing anything, when we heard her scream. Well me and Teal'c were, I don't know where Sam was." He glanced round the table. "Or where she is." Everyone looked up and down the table, Teal'c looked under the table for her. "I don't think so Teal'c"

"Colonel, did you leave her behind?"

"I don't know, she must have been with Aura at the time."

"Who?"

"Oh, ya, we met this person, her names Aura. Real nice girl. Wants to be our friend. Doesn't have any technology to share though." "Why didn't you tell me before."

"Normally Carter does that. You should have realised she wasn't here."

"Why me, you should have noticed she wasn't with you." The argument started to get very heated.

"You don't know that!"

"I out rank you Colonel. I'm right. I win." Jack sat down harshly and sulked. The major must have told Hammond about the out ranking win. Hammond could never think of something like that. "You'll have to go back and get her." George walked out and skipped down the corridor, feeling very pleased with himself.

"Oh god Jack." Carter ran to him, crying her eyes out and flung her arms around him. "I was so cold. So alone. I didn't know what to do. I forgot our home address. Then I remembered it, but I didn't have the GDO." She took a breath and snorted while she did it. "I thought I was going to be stuck her forever, alone, no one to talk to."

"I was here the hole time Sam. You told me all about you." Aura said looking at her.

"So alone. Well, she was here" she signalled to Aura. "But that's it." Jack let her finish blabbing her eyes out about nothing.

"Carter. We had to leave. Something happened to Doctor Ray. She screamed. Didn't you hear?"

"I did hear a scream, but I couldn't be bothered to go."

"Oh. Well, now we've got you. Lets go" They dialled up the gate and stepped through.

"Ok." Hammond said. "Major Carter. It's good to have you back. I hope it wasn't to traumatic, being left by yourself, all alone."

"She wasn't alone, I was with her all the time. I learned a lot about her."

"Yes. Who are you? Jack never told me."

"That's what Carter does."

"I'm Aura."

"Oh yes, the one with no technology."

"Well, I suppose. But I'd..."

"Major. I think you should go and check on Doctor Ray. See what she has to say."

"Yes sir." Her eyes darted across the room very quickly.

"Major. Are you ok?" asked the General.

"Yes sir. I think I'll go and check Ray."

"Very well. Dismissed".

"You ok Carter?"

"Yeah. I just-well I felt like someone was in the room. Someone who shouldn't have been." She laughed nervously "probably just the shock from everything." She ran off before Jack could tell her to go and get checked by Doctor Fraiser. The rest of them got up to leave, Aura followed Teal'c. She found him really interesting

Carter entered the infirmary. She saw that Ray was asleep so she took this time to read through the medical files of everyone in the base.

"You know Sam, you're not meant to do that."

"Doctor Fraiser. Sorry. I just got bored."

"That's ok. There's nothing that interesting. Actually look at John Price. His is really good. I had to treat him when he," She was stopped when Ray awoke.

"Doctor Ray." Sam walked over to her. "How are you feeling?"

"I feel a bit better thanks."

"Good. Is it ok if I asked what happened?" She moved uncomfortably and looked away from her.

"I don't remember anything." She didn't look at Sam, noticing this Sam thought maybe she wasn't quite ready yet.

"Ok, but if you remember tell me" Ray nodded and closed her eyes to let Sam know she didn't want to talk anymore. Carter stood up, "see ya." She walked out.

"What to do in this place." She said to herself. She walked around the base. Thinking. A few people spoke to her on her way. Lieutenant Chase walked past her, he reminded her of Daniel so much. Always happy, smiling, very smart. Tears came to her eyes and she realised that she was near Daniels office.

"Carter?"

"Huh, what happened?" Jack found her sleeping outside Daniels office. "Oh, sir. Why am I here?"

"I dunno. I just came." He looked straight down at her, laughing inside, 'I'll never forget this look.' He said to himself.

"Can we go in do you think?" She tried to change the subject quickly. 'Out of all the people to come, why Jack? He'll never let this go' She thought to herself.

"Don't see why not." The door was unlocked so they went in. The room was as Daniel had left it, messy books everywhere, open pads with scribbles on them.

"I knew it."

"What?"

"He had to be drawing these during a briefing."

"How do you know?"

"Well, there's Hammond, Teal'c, me, you, there's an airman, and an SF listening into top secret, classified info!"

"Oh yeah, good drawer."

"I told you he didn't listen."

"You did Jack. Looks like you win" She giggled and looked up into his eyes. He turned away feeling embarrassed. Last time they had been in Daniels room together Jack had realised jut how much Sam meant to him, crying she looked so pathetic and vulnerable. Now, a few months later she was strong again, or so she put on. No one could see how she felt inside, only how it all looked on the outside. She turned and stroked some ornaments on Daniels desk.

"General?" BANG. "What are you doing?"

"Ow, God damn it Jack, don't do that!" the general stood up rubbing his head where he had just banged it.

"What were you doing?"

"Taking some measurements."

"Of your desk? Why?"

"Because, I'm making me a new one and I want to know what size not to make it."

"What's wrong with this one?"

"This is what's wrong with it" he picked up the phone and started to talk about nothing, walking around the room, around his desk and... "OWWWWWWWWWW"

"General, why did you do that?"

"Because that is what happens, I talk, I loose concentration, I walk around my desk, I trip over wires, I fall, I smash into the table, I get another sprained wrist. Laugh all you want Colonel, I'm serious, this is dangerous!"

"I wasn't gonna laugh. I understand completely. I do this at home, only I fall onto my bed so it isn't as bad."

"You do? I've never felt this close to you before. I always thought you were an outcast, an idiot nothing like me, now I see you for who you are, a clumsy prat"

"No way, I always thought you were an outcast, an idiot nothing like me, now I see that you are only a clumsy prat, like me" and so they carried on talking, as they went along they found out they had more and more in common.

"Teal'c. Where you going?" Doctor Ray was back on her feet and following Teal'c everywhere he went.

"I am going to the mass hall. Alone." He tried as hard as he could to get her to leave him alone, but it never worked.

"Don't worry. I'll come with you. I know how boring it is having no one to talk to."

"I enjoy being by myself, especially when I eat."

"I know you want me to come. Really, I'm not going out my way, it's ok." He hung his head as he walked down the corridor, Ray was going on about something but he wasn't listening. He counted how many steps it took him to walk to the commissary, '267, 268, 269, 270, 271, 272...'

"And so I said no way, and then everyone joined in and I just pushed her like this," she demonstrated- pushing Teal'c into the wall. That was it. He had forgotten what number he had got up to.

"Doctor Ray. Go away." He said bluntly and carried on walking.

"That's so cool. You never said you did poetry. Go on do another one." She waited for him to do more, but all he did was try and explain that he didn't do poetry. But she got bored and just started going on again about the time she went to Russia. Teal'c turned as if he was going to go into the mass hall, Ray followed but he quickly went the other way and ran down the corridor so she couldn't follow him.

"GOD DAMN IT. WHY - WONT - YOU - FIT? ARGGGGGGHHHHH. GET IN THERE - YOU - SON - OF - A - Ahhh."

"Sir?"

"It's done Jack. This is it. I've done it, all by myself. What do you think?" Jack eyed the table, it was made by three planks of very badly cut wood glued together and 4 long pieces of wood to hold the table up. There were nails sticking out of nowhere and scratched into the desk, right where Hammond sat, the initials G.H. George placed his papers down and took a seat. He couldn't get his legs under comfortably, so he just leaned forward and started to write down his experience in making the desk.

"Wow sir. It's really something."

"Isn't it just? I think I've really... D'oh!" He had gone through his sheet where his initials were in the table. "Never mind. This is my rough draft." He carried on writing away. "I think I'll have to show the rest of SG-1. It's not something I can keep to myself."

"I'll go warn them."

"You do that." And so off went O'Neill, feeling very proud of his superior. So it wasn't the finest piece of art in the world, it was something.

Jack weaved in and out of different corridors, smiling at everyone he came across, having a merry little chat with each airmen late for their duties. He peaked in on people who had a deadline for something to tell them about General Hammonds new desk. He really felt like he was best friends with the General. But not for long.

The sun beamed down onto Jack as he lay in his king-sized bed. He turned to look at his clock. Late again, but it didn't matter now, now that him and the General were best friends. He got up and made himself a big mug of tea and sat down to read the paper.

Eventually he decided he better get to work. So he got dressed and got to the base just in time to see SG-5 leave through the stargate.

He walked into the generals office only to find him with -

"Aura. So that's it. Our two days of friendship is over, just like that? And I thought I knew you."

"Jack, what the hell are you talking about? You know full well I don't really like you!" He looked broken hearted and stormed off out off the Generals office.

"Sammy. We need to talk." He grabbed Carter by the wrist.

"Sammy?"
"It's so bad. Like me and Hammond just had a really big fight."

"Oh, it's ok. What did you fight about?" He sobbed so much as he tried to explain.

"Well, apparently he, he doesn't want to be my friend anymore. He wants Aura."

"He's done this to me before. He pretends to like you so you'll do as you're told, then stabs you in the back!"

"Ahhh it's so true." She tried to comfort him and eventually it worked.

"Doctor Ray. If you insist on following me around everywhere, then you might as well tell me what happened to you on the planet." Teal'c looked down at her.

"Ok. You see I was looking at my reflection in the water and then just turned around and I didn't see anything, but when I looked in the water, I saw, well I didn't see anything at first but I felt like something was there next to me, something that wasn't supposed to be there. I know it sounds strange. I can't explain it."

"You sound like Major Carter. She too felt a presence but was unable to see it."

"Really, but then I don't know what happened. I don't remember screaming. I just remember waking up in the infirmary. Should we tell Jack?"

"No. I suggest we tell him last of all. We should go to Major Carter as she is the only one who will take you seriously."

"Understood." They went to go and find the Major and told her everything that had happened. She sat looking t them, her eyes wide open as usual.

"I think we should go to Doctor Fraiser, see if she has any idea. Maybe there is something we both have. Maybe some alien technology implanted in us. It had happened before."

"Do not remind me of Urgo Major Carter."

"Sorry." They all walked down to Doctor Fraiser looking very important at each corner they turned.

"Sam. Look at this, you know I was telling you to read through John Price file, apparently he had this as well. Only it's not meant to be in here." She showed a folder to the Major.

"Oh my. That is, no wonder he didn't want it in there."

"Major Carter. We came here for a reason." Tealc said.

"Oh right yes. Doctor Fraser. Me and Ray have both had, well. When Ray was on the planet she was looking in the water and a this feeling something was there. But she doesn't remember screaming and only remembers that then waking up in here." Carter stopped for a breath, but Ray took over.

"Then Carter has also had a strange feeling that something was in the briefing room, but she couldn't see it." She stopped for a breath, but Teal'c took over.

"I suggest you run some tests on them to see if they are ok. See if you can find any alien technology inside them."

"Hey. That was my idea." Carter said irritably. She hated it when people took her ideas.

"I'm sorry what? I was reading through your file Teal'c. I never knew you had a..."

"Shut up Doctor Fraiser."

"Teal'c, that was rude." Carter fixed him with a stern look. So they had to explain everything to the Doctor again. She looked at them intently for a while. Then simply said. 'Ok. Lets run some tests.'

"So, I think for Sam Ray we should put Samantha, and for Carter we should put Sam." Jack wrote their names above the pictures of them he had drawn and sat down.

"That's very good Colonel. But what has that got to do with the two of them feeling like something is around?"

"What?" The General ignored him and went back to the rest of them.

"Janet says she can't see anything wrong with us. And I feel fine."

"So do I."

"Sir. Teal'c is having some tests done on him now. I think it may have something to do with Aura. It's just she is the only one that it can be to do with."

"Major. Are you sure you want to say this when she's sitting right next to you?" The General looked at the timid girl next to Carter.

"Sorry Sir. Can you go somewhere? I think we should keep her under close supervision."

"I'm still here. I don't know where to go."

"Ok, but don't take anything I say personally."

"So sir. Doctor Ray was the first one to think she felt the presence, she was also the first one to talk with Aura. Then I felt the presence and I was the next one she came to. Now, she spent a bit of time with Teal'c, that's why he's getting checked out."

"And what about O'Neill?"

"Well. I don't think they've spent anytime together."

"What does something you can't see have to do with me?"

"Maybe, you want our technology."

"But I'm in your base. There's always a computer that has been left on with all the information on everything you have found on every mission."

"Who would do that?"

"Oh. That would be me Major. I always forget to turn it off." Hammond looked a bit embarrassed.

"Well. I'm out of ideas sir. I have no idea what it could be. Give me a while sir. I may be able to figure it out."

"Do the best you can, but until then I want you all to have a check up with Doctor Fraiser every 3 hours, just in case something changes. Dismissed." They all went to their separate destinations. O'Neill went to find the mass hall. He was hungry. As he walked down the corridor there was no one around. He walked slowly dragging his feet along the floor, it had actually been washed for once. They didn't really clean it too often, there was so much to do and it costs a lot to keep this place running, without spending more on domestics. Of course, you could buy a Tesco own brand, but it wasn't the same.

Aura was sitting alone in her little room. She sang quietly to herself whilst brushing her hair. It was very annoying having long hair. Whenever she walked in the corridors her hair kept on going static and stuck to the walls. She started to sing loudly, the louder she sang the more the mirror vibrated. Finally it shattered when she jumped about 5 notes and went to the sound only dogs can hear (and mirrors apparently). There was a knock at her door.

"Come in." In waltzed O'Neill holding a CD and a CD player. "What's that?"

"It's a CD player and a new CD I got. Hammond wont let me play it in his office, neither will Carter. Teal'c held the door shut, I tried to barge but he's a big guy. Fraiser said she would let me but I blew the fuse in the infirmary last time. Doctor Ray got my office 'cause I spend all my time in everyone else's office. She doesn't like me. So, I thought I'd let you listen to the music of this world." He plugged it into the wall and put the CD in. "It's Darren Hayes. I love the way he can get the high notes." He looked up and smiled to himself.

"Although I dread to think how he gets the high notes." He shuddered for a second. "Anyway." He pressed a button twice. "We'll listen to Insatiable first. That was his first solo single. He used to be in another band called Savage Garden, but they split." He loved knowing something and found it very enjoyable telling someone else. "Ok. I've printed the words of the internet 'cause they don't have them on the inside. Read along and when you feel like you know it well enough you can join in." He pressed play and the music came on. He moved around the room slowly to the tune. He swayed his hips and started to try and sing the high notes. "Turn me on never stop, wanna taste every drop, my love for you insatiable. Whoa whoa whoa." He smiled to himself, enjoying every moment. He sang loudly into the microphone which was attached to it.

"Sam, I don't know what it could be. I've studied your bodies as much as I possibly can. I tried drawing you too. Look. I did you and Ray from the back. It's easier. Then I did Teal'c. There's the thing where the snake is. I'm really proud of them."

"Janet these are amazing. I think we should put them up on the fridge next to all your other pictures."

"You think?"

"Sure. Put Teal'c here, next to the other ones of him. My, you do like drawing him don't you?" Janet got a little shy and embarrassed.

"Well. When you get to know him how I have. He is really special. Remember the time Jack trapped his finger in the door? He came to me about it and we got talking. He said it wasn't the first time Jack had done it. I said he can come to me whenever he wants. So he does.

We spend hours reading through peoples files adding extra information. Sometimes we make little things up. If it wasn't for Teal'c no one would come and see me. You're all in perfect health. The whole base. I mean half the things you lot have are completely made up, but no one listens to me when I say something so no one notices."

"I'm sorry, did you say something?" Janet frowned.

"No. Nothing." It was probably better she didn't hear what Janet had just said anyway.

"Jack. This is the 6th time we've listened to it. I want the microphone." Aura snatched it off him and stated to sing "hey, oh, hey, hey, hey Governments elected, nobody votes. Politically correct, isn't that a joke? We censor music then give children guns!"

"You don't need a microphone you sing loud enough already!" He tried to take it off her.

"No, it's my turn Jack."

"It's my microphone."

"I'm a guest."

"So. I didn't invite you."

"This is my room."

"It's my base."

"But it's my room."

"It's my base, so it's my room."

"But it's been lent to me. Get Out. Out, Out, OUT. GENERAL. JACK WONT LEAVE ME ALONE!!!!!!" The General barged into the room. "Jack. Honestly. Leave the woman in peace." O'Neill started to sulk, "You can stay in here but let her sing into it for a while. Or else I'll take it off you! You can have it for the next song. Then Aura has it for the one after that. You'll have it for the one after that and so on. Do I make myself clear?"

"Yes sir." O'Neill said bitterly.

"Aura. Do I make myself clear?"

"But I didn't do anything thing."

"Do I MAKE MYSELF CLEAR?"

"Yes sir." He nodded his head and walked out. They took it in turns to sing, although Aura couldn't help notice Jack seemed to sing them to her, as if he meant them, like he wrote them for her. That was fine, apart from when Creeping Up On You came on.

"How about an injection in the butt? O'Neill doesn't like them." Fraiser looked at Teal'c.

"I am not comfortable with you going near O'Neill's butt, Doctor Fraiser."

"You're right. I'll get someone else to give it to him."

"Very well." He nodded. "I think Doctor Fraiser..."

"Oh come on, you can call me Janet." She winked at him "I think I have an idea Janet. We could bandage up Doctor Ray's mouth. Maybe you have an injection you can give her to stop her from talking." She sat to think for a bit.

"Like the one we gave Jack?" She asked.

"That would work very well."

"It's settled then. Now lets talk about us big guy."

"Doctor Fras - Janet. Do not call me big guy. I like to be called Mr Lover man." He winked at her.

"Oh you know you are." They both laughed together.

"General. I've been thinking. Doctor Fraiser has been telling me that she has had a few more people come up to her and tell her they feel like someone is around watching them. I think that we should go back to the planet again and take another sample of the water.

There has to be something in it that is causing this. Everyone who has had these sightings or whatever you want to call them has had the water to drink." She pulled her top to straighten it out.

"Wouldn't we have picked something up before though?"

"I don't know. We only tested to see if was water. No one looked out for anything."

"Very well. I'll assemble a team for you." He turned and started to walk away.

"Sir. This, this is your office. You assemble teams by phoning them. I should be the one walking out."

"Very well. I'll assemble a team for you." She looked at him with a pathetic face.

"So. Carter, what are we here for?" O'Neill asked as they headed for the water.

"The water, sir. That's why we're going over there. I think that there must be something in the water that has caused these things we think we see."

"Carter. I've drank the water. I ain't seen nothing. Face it, you're all whack jobs." He walked ahead of her.

"There has to be some reason why Jack hasn't felt anything when the rest of us has. I can't think what it can be. It must have something to do with the water though. I've already told everyone it has. I don't want to be wrong. Oh god, what if I am? How will this report look? 'Sam Carter. Stupid and wrong. Got everything wrong. It had nothing at all to do with Aura or the water.' That would be so bad."

"Sam. Stop talking to yourself and get a sample already." She took out a flask and filled it up to the top. She put it back in her bag, then looked over to O'Neill who had walked away with Aura. They strolled along happily together laughing.

"Jack used to be like that with me." She took a deep breath and let it out slowly. She couldn't help but notice how much time Aura had spent with Jack. She hadn't spoken to him for absolutely ages, this had been the first time since he asked her if he could use he lab to listen to music.

"Janet, I need you to check out Aura. I think she may have something to do with all these things going on. Jack, drank the water, but he hasn't felt anything. Everyone else who has drunk the water has now had this experience. I think Aura may be protecting him from it. Can you run some scans on her, see if you come across anything unusual." Janet nodded. "Um, Janet. Have you been spending time with Teal'c? You just nodded exactly how he does." Janet giggled a little nodding yes. She carried on giggling getting carried away until she started chocking, Sam had to smack her hard on the back.

"Thanks." Fraiser said.

"I'm going to tell O'Neill what I think, maybe he can question her."

"Is that wise? He isn't very subtle, is he?"

"It's just, he is the only one who may be able to find out what has happened." Janet bowed her head, just like Teal'c.

"Very well." She said.

"You really have been spending to much time with Teal'c" Carter said, then exited the infirmary.

"Jack, there is something i have to tell you." Aura said as they walked down the corridor.

"Ok." He said,

"Not here though."

"Ok. Well we could go to your room. i mean the place you stay at night. Not that I wanna see your room Well i do, i mean, ah lets go." So they went down corridors and corridors, turned left, right, left, left, up, down, turn around, right, right, left, right, left. Finally they found their way. They sat down on the bed.

"Jack this is hard for me to say. I don't want you all to hate me for doing this. I just wanted to test out what I could do. I have the ability to make things happen, to make people feel things. I just wanted to see how people responded to it. I didn't think anyone would actually admit they thought they felt something. I mean if you did that on my planet they'd lock you up in a little room and think your crazy." He thought for a second.

"Well. We're gonna have to tell everyone else. Sam had her heart fixed on it being the water, well the water and maybe you."

"Jack. I don't want to tell them, please. I can make it be the water. Jack please, then Sam would have been right and I can go and no one would know I did it."

"No ones going to hate you for it Aura." She bit her lip.

"Well, two people will." She stopped and waited for him to ask who. He didn't so she just carried on. "I experimented on how well I could play with people's emotions. I mean there was already something there, but I made it expand a bit. Doctor Fraiser and Teal'c always had something between them. But I made it, made it, um flower." O'Neill burst out laughing.

"What, you mean Teal'c and Fraiser are to - to - together." He laughed so hard that it really hurt him. "I'll tell you what. You leave them as a couple and I wont tell anyone what happened. You just make it be the water." So they were agreed.

"So you see sir, I was right all along. It was the water. It seems like pure water to us but it's actually a completely different drink. The people who used to live on the planet used to drink this when they were lonely. The chemicals in it all mix together when they touch the skin, or the mouth, whatever and it would give them the sense that someone was there and they weren't alone. But I still don't see why Jack didn't get affected by it." She looked around the table. "Where is he?"

"He went through the gate to say goodbye to Aura long with SG-3." Sam looked around the table again.

"Where's Teal'c?"

"He's with Doctor Fraiser, their discussing something about something. She told me, but I wasn't really listening." She gave him an understanding look.

"Where is Doctor Ray? I haven't seen her for ages."

"Doctor Fraiser gave her an injection. She said that Ray had something wrong with her throat and needed this to stop her from talking for a few days."

"That would explain why she hasn't been around for ages." They sat at either side of the table. They didn't know what to say and the more they sat there the more uncomfortable they felt. The General stared twitching, then shouted:

"Dismissed." Carter got up to leave when all of a sudden the alarms started.

"Incoming Traveller." Hammond ran down to greet whoever it was.

"It's SG-3 sir." He waited for the command. "Sir?"

"He's down there. Open the iris."

"Sorry Major. No can do, I can only open it if Hammond says himself."

"What. He's down there though. They are our boys. We know they are now open."

"Sorry Major. I can't."

"Oh for crying out loud. Sir. Hammond. Tell him to open the iris!"

"Open the iris."

"They are probably dead now." Sam said. SG-3 stepped through the gate followed by O'Neill. Sam went down to see them, first punching the person at the computer.

"Carter." O'Neill said as he walked past her.

"It's good to have you back O'Neill." The General said.

"I've only been gone 10 minutes sir." Once again, he looked confused.

"You're very brave." The General went to hug him.

"Thanks sir." He didn't know what to do so he just cuddled him back. As he walked down the corridor (he had no where to go as usual) he saw Teal'c.

"Hey Teal'c, how's Fraiser?" Teal'c raised an eyebrow. "Come on, you just gotta tell me about it." And so off he dragged Teal'c, forcing him to tell him everything!

"It all started when you trapped my finger in the door. I went to see Doctor Fraiser who was just finishing talking to Aura. A few moments later we were talking. Then she kissed me and we started to," He blushed embarressed.

"Stop, stop, stop. I don't wanna know." Jack looked freaked out and walked away from Teal'c. Teal'c just smiled and bounced down to the infirmary to meet Janet. Sam walked past him on the way and nodded to him, she had just been to see Fraiser who was waiting for Teal'c.

Doctor Ray was still unable to talk, but was trying to get some food from the canteen staff who wouldn't give her anything unless she said please. Hammond sat in his office, crying as his table had been broken by flying objects which had left his hand after he found out Sam was right again.

"Well General, I think this an end of another adventure by the SG teams."

"Shut up Siler!"
