AUTHOR'S NOTES: This poem actually goes with five others that have nothing to do with Sam and Jack but I was reading over it and I thought it fit them nicely.
Soft whispers
Tumbling
In
The
Dark.
Her voice warm, lips soft and comforting.
Breath held gently in a sigh.
He told her then, breathed a promise.
'I do.'
The only way he knew how to say ...
'I love you, I do.'
Her eyes lit ...
Shadows crowding tight.
Suffocating her mind,
Killing her words
Strangling her thoughts
Muffling her prayers.
'Say it again' tears ... wet and hot,
Coursing free, curving her cheek.
Body aching she pulled a breath ... begging one last thing.
'Please ... again.'
His words a vow, voice aching with pain.
A solemn epitaph to be her constant.
Her Northern star.
'I love you'
The last breath tumbles from her lips.
Cool and gray in pain and death.
A fitful slumber masked in eternity.
A hush. Her mind a hush ... her breath ... hushed. Lost to his ears.
His mind roars with the prospect of loss.
Aching souls ... reaching as she slips away.
'I love you'
His soft whisper
Tumbling
In
The
Dark.
To be hushed ... once more.
