STORY CAST:

* Sam. . . Fair Young Maid.

*Janet. . . The Narrator.

*Daniel. . . A Kindly Gentleman.

General: Gentlemen and ladies, please welcome to the SGC Players, performing "Dance on My Heart" by Allen Koepke. Enjoy!

{The audience claps, and as the curtain rises to show Janet, walking over to the microphone in the corner near the front of the stage.}

Janet: {cleaned her throat} This is the story of four people. Four very different people. Four very interesting people. Four very smart people. Four very weird people. Four very--.

Jack: Janet!

Janet: What?!

Jack: Get on with it!

Janet: Oh, sorry! Anyway, here's the story. Maestro, if you please.

{The music started, and Janet began to talk.}

Once two handsome gentlemen asked a fair young maid a question. . .

{No one came onto the stage. Janet starts to speak louder.}

I said, 'Once two handsome gentlemen asked a fair young maid a question. . .

{No once came onto the stage again, and now, Janet is yelling.}

I said, "ONCE TWO HANDSOME GENTLEMEN ASKED A FAIR YOUNG MAID A QUESTION. . .

{No one came out again. Janet is now furious. She gets up and slams her book on the floor.}

Excuse me for a minute.

{Janet walked into backstage to find Jack and Apophis, bruised and bleeding.}

What the hell happened here?!

Sam: When Jack saw Apophis, he punched him out, and vice versa.

Janet: Oooooh! Well, get cleaned up, and get out on stage!

Jack & Apophis (together, with a fake salute): Yes, ma'am!

*{Five minutes later, they were ready to get started again, and Janet did her fake smile, picked up her book, and went on with the story. Sam walked out on the stage, and stood on the center of the stage, smelling the fresh flowers in her basket.}

Janet: {clearing her throat} Once two handsome gentlemen asked a fair young maid a question. . .

{Enter Jack and Apophis from opposite sides of the stage. They both clear their throats.}

Janet: Two handsome gentlemen? You two? Hahahahahahahaha!

{She breaks out laughing.}

Jack: Janet. Janet! JANET!

Janet: Oh, sorry. Anyway, they asked that fair young maid a question. {Still giggling off and on.}

Jack and Apophis (together): What must we do to win your hand and gain your kind affection?

Janet: One said he was. . .

Jack: Stronger by far.

Janet: Stronger by far? You? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

{She breaks out laughing again.}

Jack: Janet. Janet! JANET!

Janet: What? {Still giggling.} Oh, sorry. Anyway, he was stronger by far {giggles} than any other man that she'd meet. {Giggles again}. Also being braver than most {giggles and begins to break out laughing but stops herself} said. . .

Jack: Please marry me, I'm adoringly sweet.

Janet: You adoringly sweet? Hahahahahahahaha! {Breaks out laughing again.}

ALL: Janet. Janet! JANET!

Janet: Oh, sorry! {Giggles off and on again.} {She wipes her eyes off, and starts again.} Then, said the other. . .

Apophis: What if I give you diamonds and pearls, would you be my bride?

Janet: {mumbling backstage} I would be. In a second.

ALL: Shhh!

Janet: {mumbling backstage} Sorry.

Apophis: I can offer power and riches all through your life, you'll be satisfied.

{Sam was just about to give Jack and Apophis her hands for them to kiss, when she felt a sneeze coming on. So, before she handed them her hands, she put her hands up by her face, and sneezed in her hands. After that, she wiped off her nose with her handkerchief, wiped her hands on her apron, and offers her hands to Jack and Apophis. They both aren't going to touch her hands at all.}

Janet: {mumbling out of the side of her mouth.} Jack. Apophis. Kiss her hands.

Jack: {mumbling the same way.} No way, Janet.

Janet: {still mumbling.} Yes, Jack. Do it, and do it now.

Jack: {mumbling.} No, Janet. I will not.

Apophis: {mumbling like the others.} Neither am I.

Janet: {mumbling} Apophis. Jack. Either you kiss her hands, or I will ram my feet so far up your asses that--.

Jack: {mumbling} Janet, remember. Cassandra and her friends are in the audience.

Janet: {talking normally.} Sorry. Just kiss them quickly.

{Jack and Apophis both gave Sam a disgusted look, and quickly gave Sam a peck on both hands. After they did, they wiped their lips off with their shirt sleeves.}

Sam: Well. . .

Janet: She replied. . .

Sam: I'd make my selection, and you'd receive my love & affection, if you danced on my heart, if you sang to my soul. But alas, my heart is not pounding, and your songs are not sounding. Therefore, I cannot marry you.

{The boys stood stunned as Sam moved to the other side of the stage, where the other spotlight was.}

Janet: Then a kindly gentleman asked the fair young maid the question. . .

{Enter Daniel, looking extra sexy as usual. He cleared his throat.}

Daniel: What must I do to win your hand and gain your kind affection?

{Sam sighs lightly, and stares at Daniel lovingly.}

Daniel: I can only promise to love you, be at your side through all of my life. I will be your faithful companion, come take my hand, say you'll be my wife.

{Just then, he kissed Sam's left hand, and pulled out a velvet box with a wedding ring in it. Sam gasped loudly.}

Sam: Is this real?

Daniel: Yep.

Sam: Are you really asking me?

Daniel: Yep.

Sam: Oh my God. I don't believe it. I don't know what to say.

Janet, Jack and Apophis {together}: SAY YOUR LINE, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!

Sam: Oh yeah. {Clears her throat.} Sir. . .

Janet: She replied. . .

Sam: You are my selection, and you'll receive my love & affection for you dance on my heart, and you sing to my soul. I'll take your hand, wear your wedding band. Yes, kind sir, I will marry you!

Daniel: {cheering.} YES! All right! {Stops.} Wait! Is this for real?

Sam: Yes, Daniel. It is for real.

Daniel: Good. {Cheering again.} Woo who! YES!

{He slipped the engagement on her left ring finger, and kissed her passionately. They stood up, and the audience cheered. Daniel and Sam kissed again, bowed, and walked offstage. The audience still cheered. Everyone else bowed, and left the stage.}

{ONE HOUR LATER. . . after the play was over. Daniel and Jack discussed Sam.}

Jack: Why did you do that?

Daniel: Do what, Jack?

Jack: Oh, for crying out loud! Does asking Sam to marry you, sound familiar?

Daniel: {thinks a moment.} Oh, yeah, it does. Does it still sound familiar for you?

Jack: What is supposed to sound familiar for me still, Danny-boy? What is supposed to?

Daniel: Does it still sound familiar that you asked Sam to marry you, and she said no? Surprising she said yes to me, now isn't it? {He said that with a cocky smirk on his face.}

{Jack couldn't stand Daniel's cockiness anymore, and he decides to lash out. Jack hit Daniel square in the face. Daniel fell flat on the floor, and laid there for a second. Sam and Janet saw everything that happened, and ran over to help.}

Janet: What is going on here?

Sam: Jack! What did you do to him?

Jack: I just punched him. Why?

Sam: He's unconscious.

Jack: What?

Janet: {checking out Daniel.} Goddamn, Jack. What else did you do?

Jack: I just punched him, and that's all.

Janet: Sam, go find Teal'c.

Sam: Got it.

Jack: Why do you need him?

Janet: To kill you, if Daniel is injured worse than you said he was.

{A couple seconds later, Teal'c arrived into the room with Sam behind him.}

Teal'c: What has happened, DoctorFraiser?

Janet: Hello, Teal'c. Our own Colonel O'Neill says he punched out Daniel, but it looks like he is worse than that.

{Teal'c walked over to Jack, put his hand around Jack's neck, and pushed him up against the wall.}

Teal'c: O'Neill, if you ever hit and hurt DanielJackson again, I will hit and hurt you as badly as I would to any other of the false Gods. Did you understand?

Jack: {barely speaking.} Yes.

Teal'c: I cannot hear you, O'Neill. Speak louder.

Jack: {still barely speaking.} YES!

Teal'c: That is good, O'Neill.

{As he lets go, Jack falls to the ground hard. He tries to catch his breath as best as he can.}'c: I am sorry, O'Neill.

Jack: It's okay, Teal'c. You were mad, I understand.

Teal'c: Good.

Janet: Teal'c, could you carry Daniel to the infirmary for us please?

Teal'c: Yes, DoctorFraiser.

{Teal'c picked up Daniel, and he, Sam, and Janet walked to the infirmary.}

{Another hour passed, and Daniel was still unconscious. Janet had looked over Daniel, and went outside to tell Sam the news}.

Sam: Janet, how is he?

Janet: He's still out, but he'll be fine. He had to get a couple stitches in the back of his head, because of a gash back there, and a couple in his face from Jack's blow. So, all-in-all, just a slight concussion, but he'll be fine. He just needs to wake up.

Sam: Oh, good.

{Just as she said that, a voice said something from the infirmary.}

Daniel: {still groggy.} Sam? Sam?

Sam: Daniel.

Janet: Yep, let's go inside.

{Sam and Janet pushed through the infirmary's doors to see him. When they got to Daniel, he smiled at the two ladies.}

Sam: Hey, Daniel.

Daniel: {still groggy.} Hey, Sam. Hey, Janet.

Janet: Hey, Daniel. How are you feeling?

Daniel: Okay, I guess. A little groggy, but all-in-all, okay.

Janet: Good, good.

Sam: Do you know what happened to you?

Daniel: Jack punched me out. I'm gonna kill him.

Sam: {laughs a little, and smiles at her fiancee.} I think Teal'c should do that.

Janet: {giggles too.} Yeah, he should.

Daniel: What? Something I missed here?

Janet: {smiled.} Yep. Why don't you tell him, Sam?

Sam: {smiled.} Okay. Well, Teal'c told Jack, if he ever hit you again that he'd hit Jack hard.

Daniel: So, I have a bodyguard now?

{Both Sam and Janet laughed.}

Sam: Yep, I guess you do.

Daniel: Am I okay?

Janet: Yes. Just a slight concussion.

Daniel: Oh, cool. Janet?

Janet: Yes, Daniel?

Daniel: Can you leave Sam and me alone for a second?

Janet: Sure.

{Just as she left, Daniel kissed his fiancee's hand lightly.}

Daniel: I love you.

Sam: I love you, too.

Daniel: Just tell me one thing.

Sam: Okay, Daniel? What?

Daniel: Did you just say that you'll marry me to get back at Jack, or do you really want to marry me?

Sam: Daniel, I really want to marry you, and Jack has nothing to do with it.

Daniel: Good. Very good. Thank you.

Sam: For what?

Daniel: Saying 'yes' to marrying me.

Sam: You are welcome.

{She softly smiled at her fiancee. She bent down close to him, and kissed him passionately.}

Daniel: What was that for? {He smiled softly.}

Sam: Because you danced on my heart, and because you sang to my soul. That's why.

Daniel: Yes, sir, it is.

{She laughed, and bent down to kiss Daniel passionately again.}
