Summary: Sam and Daniel talk about betrayal
Disclaimer: Sam and Daniel don't belong to me. Wish they did, but they don't. I didn't get anything for writing this except a few odd looks from all of you ?
Author's Notes: Numero 2! This one is slightly more serious, and we have yet-another guilty Daniel!

"Have you ever been betrayed, Daniel?"

"Betrayed? Depends what you mean."

"Well...when you put your trust in someone and they let you down."

"Kinda...abandoned you?"

"Exactly."

"..."

"So, have you?"

"Um...well...when Jack was doing that...conspiracy thing."

"What happened there, Daniel? You never told me."

"Well, he said that our friendship never had a solid basis, which kinda stung."

"I'll bet."

"Have you?"

"What? Been betrayed? Yes, I have."

"Wanna talk about it?"

"It's kinda...difficult, Daniel."

"Don't worry, I understand."

"That's what I like about you, Daniel. You're so understanding."

"Uh...thanks."

"..."

"..."

"His name was Peter."

"What happened?"

"Jack wasn't the only one in Covert Ops, y'know. I did a spell once. Peter was my contact. But he was really working for...the other side. He...well...used me."

"I'm so sorry, Sam."

"Don't be. It was all...a long time ago."

"What made you remember? Was it the mission?"

"I'm just too trusting, Daniel."

"That's not a bad thing, Sam. It's good to be open."

"Daniel, there's a difference between being open and being downright gullible."

"Guess I haven't found it, huh?"

"You always knew how to cheer me up."

"You too, Sam."

"How do I fall into these traps, Daniel?"

"Y'know, I asked Jack the very same question."

"What did he tell you?"

"I dare not repeat it."

"If I laugh anymore, this coffee's gonna spill."

"Would it help if I told you what I think?"

"Fire away, Daniel."

"We like to hope for the best, because the worst is just too sinister."

"Spoken like a true soldier."

"Don't let Jack hear that! He'll start trying to order me around again!"

"Oh, if only I had the liberty..."

"Come on! Jack bends the rules so much that they're doubled over! I'm sure a little 'creative interpretation of orders' would get looked over."

"You're really quite devious, Daniel Jackson."

"I try."

"..."

"..."

"Are you okay, Daniel?"

"Just thinking about...betrayal."

"What's on your mind?"

"Hathor...Shyla...Kira. Women I shouldn't even look at."

"Why not?"

"What do you mean 'why not'? I was married, Sam! I had a beautiful wife and while she was in danger, I allowed myself to...to..."

"As I recall, you didn't really have much choice with Hathor and Shyla. Don't listen to Jack, Daniel. He's bad for your health and sanity. And when you were...with Kira, Sha're was gone. It wasn't betrayal, Daniel."

"Then why does it feel that way?"

"Daniel; is this another guilt trip?"

"I'm getting quite good at those, aren't I?"

"Daniel; if Sha're was here, what would she say?"

"She'd say...um..."

"She'd say, 'You shouldn't feel guilty because it's NOT YOUR FAULT!'"

"You're probably right."

"Of course I'm right. You just like to put yourself through the wringer."

"Guess I do."

"...."

"But you're just as bad."

"I suppose I am. That's what you're there for."

"Dr Daniel Jackson, Personal Psychiatrist and Counsellor."

"Daniel, you're not that kind of doctor."

"Isn't it a shame?"

"Not really. If you were a psychiatrist, this whole world wouldn't exist."

"Don't flatter me."

"It's true! Without you, we would never have stopped Apophis destroying Earth. Think about all those alternate realities, with no Daniels to save the day."

"So, I can save Earth but not my wife."

"Daniel..."

"I know, I know!"

"For a genius, you sure can be an idiot!"

"I think that's a compliment."

"You better believe it."
