AUTHOR'S NOTES: This is my first story so be gentle. Feedback is welcome. I want to dedicate this story to my friend Sam or Sarge who helped my get my confidence up to write this story. This is for you chuck!
The wind blew on the couple sitting on their balcony just watching the stars. Jack sat with Sam sitting between his legs holding her around the waist. He couldn't see her face but he knew that like him she was completely content to just sit there in his arms in silence. Things between them had been going great since they had started seeing each other six months ago. There had always been something between them from the start when Sam had challenged him to an arm wrestle to gain his respect and it had worked. Now four years and a half years later he loved her more than anything. He loved her brains, her eyes, her smile, her loving nature, in fact there was nothing he didn't love about her. The only problem was, Jack was afraid that Sam didn't know how much he adored her. He told her everyday that he loved her but maybe that wasn't enough for her. He had been thinking how to show his love for Sam and out of all of the ideas he only thought one was any good so he decided he would do it,
"Sam?" Jack said still with Sam leaning against him
"Mmm?" Sam mumbled
"I have to ask you something important" Sam turned around to look into Jack's eyes
"OK Jack, you're beginning to worry me."
"Oh no it's nothing bad. In fact it may be very good IF you say the right answer"
"Well I can't say the right answer unless I have the question."
"Well, I better do this right" then Jack got down off the chair and went down on one knee while taking Sam's hand.
" Sam, I've done a lot of bad things in my life that I'm not proud of but in between all that I have on occasion done some good as well, Sara, Charlie and of course you." This made Sam smile "I love you Sam, more than I thought possible, after Charlie died I thought I would never love again but now you put love back into my life and I thank you for that. I suppose you want to know why I'm babbling on, so here we go........ Will you marry me?" As Jack proposed he produced a ring and offered it to Sam.
"Jack I don't know what to say,"
"Well, I'll give you a clue it's yes or no. I like the first answer best." Sam smiled as this and said
"I like the first answer too" and Jack smiled
"Yeah, it's a yes. I will marry you Jack O'Neill."
"She's gonna marry me!!" Jack shouted out to the whole universe and he put the ring on her finger. After he put the ring on he hugged Sam fiercely, picked her off the floor and spun her around. He put her down and kissed her passionately.
"I love you Samantha O'Neill"
"I love you Jack O'Neill"
And from then on they were always completely content to be in each others arms.
