04/23/2009: "Problems With Archive"

Ok, here's the scoop on what's going on with the archive, and more importantly, what's not. The archive feature is not working right again. If you upload a story and you have a word count, but no story, it is because it does not actually exist. The story failed to upload. Feel free to delete the defective entry, otherwise, I will have to do so. I fixed this before by changing the security settings on the server and recompiling Apache. A little while back, I moved to a new server and got a new IP adress. This is when the problems started, and I have not been able to resolve them in the same manner. I am still looking into another solution.

Next, the captcha images are not working for all users of the server. I had previously turned them off, but then the site was overrun by spam and hacking attemps, which necessitated them being turned back on.

We've been using eFiction for several years now, but it seems to have come with several inherent problems. I am looking into an alternate solution, at this time. I have just over two weeks left in this semester, and then I will have more time to deal with these issues. I am not ignoring your e-mails, and am doing my best to effect what repairs and fixes that I can.
