07/20/2007: "welcome to my crazy life"

Yesterday, we finished moving into our new apartment. Today, we are staying in a motel for the weekend courtesy of the American Red Cross. There was a fire in the apartment two doors down from ours this morning. DH got called in for work this AM, and I went with him to see my academic adviser to see if I could get my transcript straightened out, in case I can afford to take a class. Then, I went to work. DH called me to tell me about it, then I got to see it on the six o'clock news.

The apartment is currently condemned. Most of the damage is smoke and water related, and the big ol' hole in our ceiling where the firemen either fell through, or punched through to access the attic/crawlspace. A lot of it will be recovered with a lot of cleaning. My husband and I both have asthma, though, so it's off-limits until the cleaning crew comes through. That can't happen until after the insurance agent comes through on Monday, which is when our voucher runs out. The Red Cross told us to come back then and they'd see if they could help more. They did give us a seventy-five dollars voucher for food from Wal-Mart and a referral for the Salvation Army for clothes on Monday. They may also be able to replace some of my meds, but I can't find out until Monday morning.

Please keep us in your prayers - (and yes, I am willing to provide proof - this really is happening) we can use all of the positive thoughts we can get.
