Unsure Future
Something was wrong, Angela woke with a start and her dog Homer was looking around the room whining. The basset was small for the breed but she went everywhere with her as a constant companion. Angel knew she was not supposed to look to see if there was a problem, she was to go into her safe place and stay until someone came for her that she knew, but she wasn’t sure what the noise was. She pulled her covers back and got her house slippers on then went to the door opening it just a crack to see out, there was nothing in the hallway so she stepped out going to the end of the hall looking down the stairs. There was somebody in the kitchen, Homer ran down the stairs to the kitchen door and barked at the intruder but Angel was right on her heels.
Jack O’Neill had just gotten home and found a piece of cake and a glass of milk in the refrigerator waiting for him. He set his treat on the table and just as he was setting down he heard Homer come around the corner and bark at him. Jack knew that if one was close by then the other was also. He watched as a small blond head came slowly around the corner to peer into the room with those big brown eyes that he loved so much.
Angela came running into the room almost slipping on the slick floor but the soles of her slippers held tight until she jumped into the waiting arms of her father. Jack scooped her up and sat her in his lap where she proceeded to give him a big hug and a kiss before helping herself to some of his cake.
Samantha O’Neill knew what was happening before she stepped out of the bedroom. The dog was barking and she could hear laughing coming from the kitchen. She came around the corner and carefully walked over to the table to set down. Sam observed the chocolate mess on her four year old daughter and husband where they had been playing in the cake feeding each other and making a mess. She couldn’t help but smile at the group in front of her. Even the dog was happy licking up the crumbs as they fell to the floor.
“Angel, what are you doing out of bed at this time of the morning, its 2:00 O’clock and you should be asleep.”
“I heard Daddy and wanted to give him a kiss good night, he gave me some of his cake.”
Angel had a milk mustache and chocolate all over her face. Sam went to the sink and got one of the wash clothes she kept there for just such messes to clean her up. Angela got down and went to her mother’s side to get her face cleaned up when BJ came into the room. Jan was now nine years old and still had the brown eyes and red curly hair that got her the name Janet Lynn O’Neill. That was when Jan was adopted by Jack as an orphan on a planet where Jack and Logie were stranded for a long time and presumed dead by most of the people on Earth; except Sam. BJ wasn’t really happy about the nick name because it stood for baby Janet so now they mostly called her Jan but dad still slipped every once and a while but mostly he just called her baby doll.
Jack pulled out another piece of cake and poured another glass of milk for Jan while looking to see if Sam wanted some and receiving a look like (I can’t believe you’re giving the kids cake at this time of the morning.)
Jan took her turn in Daddy’s lap and did just as good of a job of smearing chocolate and milk everywhere as Angel had making Angel laugh at the way she was trying to feed Jack some of the cake. After cleaning Jan and the table Jack tucked both of his baby girls into bed and giving the puppy a quick belly rub making her tail thump the bed happily.

Shawn was a tall human with blond hair and brown eyes, he was a strong man at the age of twenty two and he had already led a very hard life. He was no stranger to death, having taken many lives and watched as others he loved had died. He carried a short sword on his back over his right shoulder and a knife on each leg strapped to his thigh with a pistol on each hip also and one on his side like his mother had taught him. He wore a black uniform that was made of a material that did not hold dirt or stains like normal material did, it was always clean even if he were to need to crawl through the mud it would just fall off.
He made the final calculation which was amazing to the little Asgard that was helping him. He couldn’t remember any other human that could do them as quickly as Shawn could and it showed the intelligence and hard work of both the teachers and student that had brought him to this level of skill and training.
They were on a small cloaked ship orbiting Earth, the Asgard was not going with him and he was not able to take the ship so he was going to beam down and change time at the same time. This was a one time only transfer so if something went wrong he wasn’t going to have another chance. He was just hoping that he didn’t emerge in front of a truck or in a wall that was not supposed to be there at that time, he had no records of the time and there was no way to see what was down there in the past.
The Asgard made the transfer and he was gone. The Asgard turned the ship and left Earth orbit to see if he could find another Asgard survivor, so far all he had been able to find was this lone human and now he was also gone.

It was a Saturday morning so the girls got up quietly and went into the living room to watch TV while eating cereal at the coffee table letting Mom and Dad sleep in. Jan poured Angel’s cereal and milk for her then did the same for herself. She also did something she had learned from watching her Mom and Dad do it every morning for as long as she could remember, she made coffee so that it would be ready when they woke up. They wouldn’t let her cook but this was just coffee and she knew that they would like it and not chew on her for doing something dangerous.
Homer ran into the bedroom, grabbed the covers and started pulling until he had the blankets on the floor, then she sat on them and started barking till she saw a sleepy head look over the edge of the bed. Homer was smart and as soon as he saw the face that was attached to the blond hair she jumped up putting her paws on the side of the bed and started licking the face. Sam smiled and started petting the little basset to see if she could stop some of the good morning kisses from the puppy. She gave up that strategy for another one that was even more evil than anything else; she picked the puppy up and turned her loose on Jack. Too her utter disappointment he merely rolled the dog over and rubbed her belly till she went to sleep on his arm. She got up and went to the hall but when she smelled the coffee she ran back into the bathroom to take a turn at paying homage to the porcelain god. Jack had not been fazed by the puppy but he was instantly awake at the sound of someone being sick. He was quick to be by her side and pulled her hair back and rubbed her back till she was finished then he got her a warm washcloth to wipe her face with.
He ask if she had been feeling bad last night or had something that might of upset her stomach, she couldn’t think of anything and told him it was just the smell of the coffee that trigger her upset stomach. She was feeling much better now and brushed her teeth before they both went down stairs to see what the girls were doing and to let the dog out into the backyard for a while. It wasn’t cold outside but it was very cool and he didn’t want to go out without at least a sweater on. Homer didn’t stay out long either and was soon scratching at the door to come in.
There was a knock on the door and Sam answered it without looking out the peephole thinking it was Daniel on his usual Saturday morning run to see the girls, He would come by and they would go out to breakfast later on after the girls had digested their early morning cereal. She was still a little queasy when she went by the kitchen door and smelled the coffee again. She opened the door and a tall blond man grabbed her as soon as the door opened. He had pinned her arms to her sides and she instinctively brought her knee up hard into his groin while grabbing him around his waist and turning tripping him over her leg taking him to the ground where his hold was broken, she straddled his waist and grabbed his neck, he was also quick and flopped her off over his head and rolled on top of her just as Jack came into the room and the girls were screaming. The tall man tucked Sam’s arms to her sides and held them there with his knees while holding his hands up and telling everybody to stop. Jack stopped where he was but that was holding a 9mm pistol to the back of the man’s head.
Shawn felt the weapon and made no aggressive moves at all.
“Sir, may I please get off of her so that I may explain myself?”
“Put your hands behind your head, get up on your knees and let her crawl out from under you.” Jack had moved back a steep and Sam came out and disarmed the man. “This is quite a nice arsenal you’re carrying around; so why did you just attack my wife when she opened the door?”
“I did not attack her, I was just giving her a hug, I haven’t seen her for a long time now and I really miss her.”
This had Jack and Sam confused, Jack didn’t know the guy and Sam shrugged her shoulders because she had never seen this man before. Jack told her to call the base and have security come and get this guy.
“No, wait, you need to hear what I came here to tell you before you lock me away. Besides if I had wanted to hurt someone I would have just shot you through the window or when you opened the door. I made a mistake and didn’t think about the date, I just saw my Mother and wanted to hug her.”
That was a jaw dropper for Jack and Sam both. Sam started looking at him again and noticed the dark brown eyes and jaw line that was just like Jack’s and the blond hair was her color but just a little darker he even looked like Jack in body shape except that he was half his age but the eyes were what she was looking at, it was the same as Angel’s but in an older face.
“I’m Shawn Lee O’Neill and I’m here to warn you of a disaster that is going to wipe out every living thing in this universe if we’re not able to stop it.

Daniel came up to the house to see the door was standing open and Jack was holding a pistol pointing it at a large blond man that looked just like Jack except for the blond hair.
“Umm Jack, what is going on here and who is this, a nephew your not fond of?”
“He said he is Shawn O’Neill and he’s Sam’s son.”
Shawn looked at Jack with a hurt look, “I’m your son also.”
“I don’t have a living son and neither does Sam!”
“Actually you do, I just haven been born yet and neither had John Daniel O’Neill my twin brother”
Jack’s jaw was getting sore from hitting the floor so many times in the last few minuets.
“If I got the time right Mom is about six weeks pregnant with us right now.”
Jack was thinking of just resting his jaw on the back of the couch to give it a break.
Sam stepped back into the room, “So, you’re saying that you traveled back in time to warn us of this threat.”
“Yes!!!”
“I would never allow that to happen, it would change the timeline by just having you here.”
“I also know that, but the problem is that we need to change this timeline in the worst way. We checked the other parallel dimensions and they’re as screwed up as this one and by changing it here we can change it in the other dimensions also.”
“If this is not stopped it will be the end of mankind and the Asgard, Tok’ra Goa’uld the Nox and every other race of people you know. Very few will survive and they are being hunted down.”
“We need to take this into the base, Daniel please take the girls to a safe place and meet us at the mountain.”
“Please take them in with you so that I may have a chance to talk to them, I’ve never met them and I want to see my sisters as soon as possible.”
Jack and Sam were both looking somewhat skeptical.
“I’d die before I would let anything happen to them while I was around.”
Jack smiled and waved the pistol.
“I know.”
“Daniel take them to the base with you but keep them under guard where nothing can get to them, Understood?”
Daniel could not help his response.
“Yes Sir!”
He was not being smart he was following orders like all the other military personal on base and when Jack gives and order like that it is responded to with a ‘Yes Sir!’
Sam drove in with Jack holding the pistol on the young man. He had thought of calling in the SF’s to do the transport but it would take too long and he wanted to get this story on tape as soon as possible.

Cassandra Frasier and John O’Neill were at the base when he got there with the girls and with both of them being in the Air Force Academy they were in uniform while on base. Daniel took the girls into the commissary and got their breakfast under the watchful eyes of four SF John and Cassy both lavished a lot of attention to the girls who knew them as their uncle and cousin Cassy. Angel went to John and Jan went to Cassy without thinking about it. Cassy and agreed that Jan was the image of Janet Frasier as a child and couldn’t help but love her like a daughter of her own, John being the young clone Jack O’Neill felt closer to Angel but he loved both girls equally also as if they were his own children.
When Jack and Sam had been taken by the Ashrack almost five years ago now, he and Cassy had stayed with Jan thinking that if Jack or Sam didn’t make it back he or Cassy would raise the child themselves, maybe not together but with equal say on the welfare of the child. Jack and Sam did make it back so the two young people were able to get on with their lives as single people trying to make the grade and to get into Stargate Command where they belonged.
After the girls had eaten their fill Daniel had the SF’s take them into the VIP room and lock it down with two outside and two inside with the girls.

Jack started the debriefing with the SF’s stationed just outside of the room where they could get inside quickly if they were needed. He and Sam were both armed as well as Teal’c, Daniel didn’t bring a weapon.
“Okay Mr. O’Neill please; tell us your story with as much detail as you can.”
(Shawn’s past)
About six months from now a race of beings called the Hubb’vee are going to invade this galaxy like a swarm of insects, when they did it in my past there was no warning when they came in they destroyed all sentient beings. They would have used us as a food source also but they got stung a couple of centuries ago by the race they were dominating started fighting back so now they just kill everyone that can fight back then strip the planet of all they need for food and fuel then they’re off to the next planet. When they got to Earth they sent scouts which came across the unfriendly nations of this world who told them of the Stargate and where to strike thinking that they would be left alone if they helped them out. It didn’t work out that way.
The Hubb’vee were told about the Alpha sight and all the other bases we had across the galaxy which were hit first. Jan and Angel were at school and daycare when the strikes hit here killing them instantly, Mom was in her lab when the warning came that everything above ground for fifty miles around the center of the city was vaporized. It devastated Mom and the first thing you did Dad was to try and dial the other sights to get the people out but everyone was overrun and inaccessible. You had an address from the Ancient database that popped into your head and dialed it then set the self destruct to close the gate and keep the information out of enemy hands the Hubb’vee were making quick work of the defenses even the steal doors were falling fast to some kind of corrosive that melted right through like they weren’t there.
Mom said you pushed her through the event horizon just as she was looking back and saw you hit with one of their weapons and fall back down the ramp but she wasn’t able to pull back. She fell through the other side and a second later a shield came on which was the only thing that kept her from being killed by the blast coming through the wormhole as the self destruct went off.
In just a matter of minuets she went from having a large family to being pregnant on a deserted world with nothing to survive with, she didn’t even have a knife.
She pulled herself together after a while and started using the survival training you had taught her while stranded on the planet with the Ashrack and what she learned as an officer and member of the armed forces. She found the proper stones and started knapping out knives and other tools she needed. She found a cave and started supplying it with foods and making a door too keep out the animals and had John and I on her own millions of miles away from another person. When John and I were old enough to travel with her we did some exploring to see if we could find the outpost of the Ancient. When we were ten years old John who was the adventurous one fell and broke his leg with a compound fracture, the infection that resulted from the open wound killed him.
Mom was devastated again to loose another of her children leaving only her and myself.
When I was twelve we found another cave that had a blue hand print on the wall and a keypad, Mom was very excited but she wasn’t able to get the hand print to light up. I apparently did inherit the Ancient gene and the keypad lit up. It took almost a year for her to crack the code to open the door and it would give a nasty shock if the wrong code was entered three times in a row. She had educated me by then on how to survive, she also educated me with her vast knowledge of theoretical astrophysics along with military strategy which she said you were a master of.
Jack smiled at the comment but was upset at the thought of Sam having to do all this by herself.
“Do you have the dialing address for the planet you went to?”
Shawn pulled out a paper with the address and a map to the outpost along with a list of what was inside and the code to get in the door.
“Has anyone else seen this?”
“No, you’re the first and only one to see it and I would like it kept that way with the exception of Mom, sorry I mean, What should I call you?”
“Mom is fine if that’s what you’re comfortable with.”
Jack gave her a look of are you sure?
She just shrugged her shoulders to answer his question.
“Okay, go on with your story please.”
We had a hard time with the Ancient Language deciphering what anything said, I could use the equipment and she could usually fix it if it was broken after she found out how to use their interments then she showed me how to do it and to make something that worked with that stuff while she programmed the computer to show me how to make them with the technology of Earth present, the things are bulky but they work.
After we were able to make better weapons and shields she started training me in combat. I was fifteen at that time and she really put me through the paces knowing that this was the only way we could save the universe this time. Once she felt that I was trained we went through to the Alpha sight and took control there but there wasn’t much left, it was a waste land. They had used the Stargate to go to the other planets and destroy the people there. It was easy to tell them from others because they looked like six foot tall grasshoppers that stood on their back legs and used all four arms to shoot and kill anything that moved with some sort of laser burst. The Goa’uld put up a pretty good fight but they were no match and fell in a couple of months according to the one Asgard that I found alive.
“You know Shawn; if we succeed in stopping the Hubb’vee it will end your time line.”
“No Mom, it will not end it but it will shift it into another dimension or time line of its own. You’re the one that taught me that all things that can happen will happen in one time line or another I.E one dimension or another. If I succeed it will change this time line and several others for the better the only other choice we have is to let it happen and be destroyed. In that case I will die here with the people I love defending the planet of my Mother’s origin, Earth.”
“Hay, I’m from Earth too you know.”
“Sorry Dad, I got a little carried away there.”
Anyway we were able to build an F302 out of the spare parts and things were able to build with modifications to the shielding and weapons we were able to do some serious damage to the larger Hubb’vee ships while on one of our runs an enemy fighter made a kamikaze run on Mom’s fighter, that wouldn’t have been a problem but he had enough impact to divert her ship into the gravity field of a gas giant and her systems were damaged from the impact.
Shawn had to stop there as the tears could not be stopped
Jack looked through misty eyes and saw that everybody in the room had a tear including Teal’c
Shawn pulled himself together and finished telling them about finding the Asgard and building the time device which could only work one way and he had nothing to go back to in his time anyway, He would fight and if necessary die killing as many of the bugs as he could.

“Okay people, this is what we’re going to do, first I want blood samples taken from Shawn for DNA to see if he is really our son and I want it checked and rerun by the Asgard, Walter send a message to them asking for their help and inform them of the situation.” Jack had called Walter in at the beginning of the briefing.
“SG1 suite up, we’re going to this address and checking it out, I’ll be going as well and so will Shawn. We’ll also take SG 5 and 7 as back up. Get John and Cassy in here so that they can stay with the girls here on base for a couple of days. I want them relieved of their schoolwork for the week at my discussion while we’re off world. They can do their homework on the computers here and that goes for Jan and her school work as well. Walter have two computers that are not connected to the base computers but have internet access setup in the VIP quarters please.”
“I want someone to go to the Academy and my house to get clothes and toys for the girls then get whatever John and Cassy need. I also want the SF’s with them at all times at least outside the doors and after a room is fully checked out. If these Hooves or whatever they are get word that Shawn is in this time they may try a few tricks of their own. From what Shawn has said they already have people here gathering information although I don’t think they will be able to do it in person they have human accomplices here on Earth.”
“Shawn do you know what nation or group gave the information?”
“No, Mom thought it was the Trust or a faction of the NID but it could be anybody that has classified information on where the other addresses are which narrows the list down a lot.”
“I want our people in the FBI and Secret Service looking into this on the quiet but I will arrange that through General Hammond and the President; Dismissed.”
While Shawn was sitting there he had a pad and pencil, he started drawing the components for the drive modifications on the F302’s, Sam noticed this and sat in the chair next to him watching what he was doing.
“That’s great, how long did it take for you to figure it out.”
It didn’t take you very long at all once you saw what was in the Ancient’s database then backward engineered the system to use Earth components. The shields and weapons are even better but I thought this would get the engineers started with some of the modifications; I should have the other drawings ready in a couple of hours as well as modification for the Asgard shields and weapons. The first go around the Asgard were knocked out as fast as we were.

“General O’Neill, are you sure that you’re needed for this mission?”
“Yes General Hammond, I do feel I’m needed, Shawn is the only other person that can operate the Ancient equipment other than myself, Daniel, Teal’c and I all read Ancient and the probe shows the planet just as he described it with no signs of higher life forms present, of course we don’t know what’s in space above so as usual we go and hope for the best.”
There was a large supply train that left with them with locked boxes of supplies such as food, axes, shovel’s and a lot of weapons and ammunition, tents and computers with Naquada generators he also had books on medical procedures and medical supplies with everything from antibiotics to surgery equipment for light surgeries, Jack was thinking about John his son that died when he had all this loaded even though it was a different time he would not see it happen again if he could help it.
The other thing that they had was gas and oil for the motorcycles they were riding. And the trailers they had attached that had the other supplies SG 5 and 7 were manning the gate but the scientist of both groups were with SG1, Shawn and General O’Neill. Teal’c was having trouble with this many O’Neill’s in the group and started using rank and Shawn’s full name.
It only took them a couple of hours to get to the cave and only because of rough terrene where it was hard to get the trailers through.
Jack opened the door on the first try using the combination that Shawn provided while thinking about how long it took Sam and the amount of pain she must have gone through to get that combination for her and her son. Their sons, who she was carrying at this very moment which was making him smile. She had gone to the infirmary as soon as they were dismissed to have a pregnancy test done and it was positive she was six weeks along just like Shawn had said.
They didn’t tell the girls but they did go by to say goodbye with a lot of hugs and kisses. The staff at the SGC already spoiled them rotten mainly because they were sweet kids and a little to get on the good side of the General and Colonel O’Neill
After the door was opened and the room cleared by Teal’c and himself he turned the scientist loose on all the gismo’s while the four people that could read Ancient did so for those that could not. Shawn showed them the things that were broken and how to fix them which was making Sam’s day by leaps and bounds. There were tons of new doohickeys to play with. But it seems that everybody was taking things out of his hands when he would pick something up. One of the things he was looking at dropped and he almost didn’t catch it before it hit the ground and he was sent outside to play.
Jack was sitting on a log whittling on a stick trying to make something interesting out of it when Sam came out to sit with him, She handed him a cup of coffee from a thermos they had brought as part of their supplies but stayed away from the fumes so that her stomach wouldn’t rebel from the smell and cause what little breakfast she was able to eat to be scattered on the ground.
“Whatchathinkin about Dad?”
“Mostly about John and what the future Sam went through here alone with two babies and nothing to take care of them with, also about how strong you were to do what you did and how well you brought our son up on your own.”
He put his arm around her giving her a hug and letting her know how much he loved her.
She smiled and hugged him back but was not able to say anything because of the lump in her throat; she did have all those pregnant hormones flying about in her system again and couldn’t help her emotions.
“We have been forewarned and we’re taking steps to make sure the future will be different. The President has already stepped up the production of the F302’s with the modifications and the Asgard have changed their shields and weapons so they will have a fighting chance.”
Sam walked back to the trailer that was attached to her motorcycle and pulled out a retractable fishing rod and tackle box. She was smiling as she walked back over to her husband and told him of the large stream that was about half a mile down the hill and that Shawn had told her the fish were this big holding her arm out indicating the length of her arm.
He had no idea she had snuck the fishing gear into the trailer but she always knew how to make him happy and to keep him out of their hair while they were trying to get some work done.
Shawn came out and Sam went to the trailer and pulled a second retractable rod out and handed it to him, He smiled and went along with his father to the stream for a little quiet time for just the two of them.

Shawn had said that his mother had programmed a translation into the computer that converted everything to English, the hard part was getting the computer to recognize the Ancient alphabet and vise versa, after that was finished she had Daniel to translate matching the words to each other. That took the rest of the day but the results were great and adding words as they went was not a problem
Shawn had said it took months to get some of the words translated before but with all the people helping her it didn’t take long at all. A lot of what was in the database was just maintenance logs and supply logs a few list of things needed and things to do. Then she got to the repair manuals. There was no bringing her back when she got there, the only time she left was to look up a part she wasn’t sure of and to use the latrine which was setup a short way from the mouth of the cave. Jack and Shawn took terns bringing her food and drinks to keep her awake as long as possible but she eventually and to stop and rest. She had made copies of the repair manuals on the hard drive and burned it to DVD just in case something happened to the hard drive then she made another copy with her flash drive. She had made several toys with the parts on hand but what she really wanted was a map to the other bases and outpost of the Ancient’s.
They spent three days there gathering information and making plans, Jack and Sam didn’t sleep in the same sleeping bag because they were off world and on a mission but they always ended up in the morning with Sam cuddled to Jack and with the slightest sound of something coming into the cave they both had their weapons ready at the same time covering the area where the noise came from. Everybody took turns doing guard duty except Sam and she was busy with all her new toys and doohickeys.
Jack and Shawn spent a lot of time by the stream just sitting there enjoying the sun and the quiet but they both knew that it wasn’t going to last long. It was getting time to go back and get things ready for the battle to come.
Sam loaded the computers and was instructed to leave one laptop with a copy of the data there with a Naquada generator and supplies, medical, weapons and food locked inside the outpost and one of the motorcycles in case of emergency but she knew he was thinking that this may be the only place that she could hide if things got bad on Earth.
Sam rode back with Jack but she would have been much happier if she was doing the driving and he was on back. After about an hour they stopped to rest but mainly it was to let Sam take the drivers seat.

Homer knew there was someone at the door long before they put the key into the lock, they didn’t smell like her family so the ten month old basset female gave warning to anyone in the vicinity with a hound dog bray that was heard at the end of the block.
She was small for her breed but she still had teeth and she was going to use them on the strangers that were invading her territory and could possibly injure one of her people even though they were not home at the moment. Homer didn’t think much about it she just tore into the first person that came through the door.
Lieutenant Amy Scott and Sergeant Julie Collins went to high ground as quickly as possible with the little dog on their heals. Homer had them on the kitchen table quickly and being that she was a long dog and able to reach about ten inches over the top of the table the women were trapped against the back wall in the center of the table. Luckily Lt Scott was wearing her radio and was able to call for backup.
The base dog handlers were able to subdue the overly excited dog but it took three of them to get her into the crate for transport back to the SGC so that she could be housed with the other dogs while the General was away.
John and Cassy had the dog brought back to the base when they heard what had happened. The girls wanted to see their puppy so Homer was brought down from the kennels to the VIP suite along with their close and toys.
Amy and Julie came to the suite to see how the girls were doing and were met at the door by Homer, she was waging her tail and happy to see the people this time, her humans were safe and she had the small ones with her now. Homer was happy at the way she was able to tree the humans and thought about doing it again to show Angel and Jen how easy it was but she was receiving a lot of attention from the two women so she didn’t want them to stop just to show her humans what she could do now.

The Stargate area had changed a lot during the three days they were away, Sam didn’t know how the engineers could put up a Quonset hut so quickly but there was one about a hundred feet from the gate and another two in the last stages of construction. Jack told her about quick drying concrete and prefab buildings but is still amazed her. In another four months there would be a small city there with all the conveniences of home. The fields around the small settlement were being tilled to grow crops and livestock was being brought in filling the pinned in areas where the barns were being built.
Jack was looking at the Stargate intensely trying to see something that he had been thinking of for several days while they were at the outpost.
“Shawn, why did the Ancients build the outpost so far from the Stargate?”
Shawn shrugged his shoulders and shook his head. “I have no idea what would have made them put it that far away.”
Jack was looking thoughtful for a moment again. “You said there was a force field that blocked the blast from the self destruct at the base while the wormhole was open when your mother came through?”
“That’s what she said and she described it too me in detail, she said it flashed on after she stepped through and really made a show when it had to stop that much power coming through at one time. She said she had seen the power of a nuclear explosion stopped by the iris at the SGC but this was a visible display with the force field being clear.
Jack turned to Sam with a look that said what she spoke for him. “There must be a control room or station here close by and the other station is an auxiliary control in case something happens to the primary control station.”
“That’s why they give you the big bucks Colonel, you’re the genius, now find that control room before we build something over the top of it.”

It took them two more days to find the entrance to the underground chambers that housed the main complex, Jack left Sam and Daniel to work out the details of getting the translation computers installed and working to see what else this outpost could do. When they first got into the bunker Sam had a real time getting Jack and Shawn to leave things alone. Shawn had a tendency to pick things up and play with them just like his father did.
She was constantly taking things away from them and asking them where they picked them up. While Jack was in another room with Shawn he saw a ring setting on a shelf which he picked up and started to play with it. It was a little big on the setting but it fit his finger perfectly when he tried it on. He looked at it for a while and decided that he had better put it back before his wife found him wearing it and banned them from the bunker. The ring was stuck, it wasn’t tight he could move it around on his finger but he could not take it off. He called Shawn over and asked him to try and pull it off but it was stick tight to his hand. Shawn asked him where he got it which had a very familiar sound to it with a look that he inherited from his Mother. Jack sheepishly pointed to the shelf that the ring came from.
“It say’s ‘memory recall device’, don’t you read before you pick things up?”
Then Jack noticed a lump under his shirt that wasn’t supposed to be there.
“What’s this, Mister ‘don’t touch until you read what it is’?”
“It said personal shield after I picked it up and it stuck to me.”
“What kind of personal shield “
“It didn’t say “
“What can it do?”
“It didn’t say.”
“Do you want to test it?”
“Sure.”
Jack pulled his knife so fast that Shawn never saw it coming but he reacted without thought and side stepped the thrust then grabbed Jack’s right arm as it went past him with his left arm then Shawn did a half step back to the right twisting Jack’s arm and throwing him to the ground and slapping the back of Jack’s hand causing him to release the knife which Shawn had picked up before it fell bringing it back down at Jack’s throat. Jack was a old fighter and these things happen on occasion, he pushed the knife to the right with his left hand and catching Shawn’s elbow with this right hand flopping him as Jack took his knife back and brought it back into play against Shawn.
Sam heard a noise coming from the other room and went in to see what was going on only to see her husband and her son in what looked like a knife fight.
“What in the Hell is going on in here!!!”
Jack and Shawn both jumped up like the floor was way too hot. Jack slid his knife back into the sheath as if it had never been out.
They both answered at the same time saying the same thing. “Nothing we were just playing.” Accept Shawn ended with a Mom and Jack ended with a Sweetheart.
Sam had to smile at the two of them looking just alike and answering just alike and she did what all wives and mothers did, she threw them outside to play and told them not to come back in until they could behave themselves.
It’s not everyday you see a Colonel throwing a General out of his own base but in this case the rest of the scientist had to smile as the two men scurried out to get away from the one person they had the most respect for and Jack didn’t even think of pulling rank on her.
The power was somewhat of a problem until Sam installed one of the Naquada generators and requested one of the new Magnum 2 Naquada generators that could produce a spectacular amount of power; it was large and bulky but it would do the job of getting the force fields up that Sam and Daniel had found to protect the area for miles in all directions. The power soured that was in place was starting to fail. Jack and Shawn left them to play going back to the SGC to take control there and to see the girls again.
Sam told Jack to give the girls a hug and kiss for her and to tell them Mommy will be home soon.

Carl Simmons was going to make the big score this time, the people above him in the business promised him a five million dollars to bring in the O’Neill children, Jan and Angela but they had to be unharmed too get paid. They also said they would pay fifty thousand dollars a piece to two helpers and money for information such as bribes. Carl had figured this to be an easy job, go to their school and offer them a ride maybe offer a little candy then snatch them and it would be all done. Then he found out why the money was so good, they were hold up in a high security military base and they weren’t coming out as far as anyone knew about.
He had been in the army for a year before they gave him a dishonorable discharge for stealing and selling drugs on base so he knew what it meant to be in a lockdown like this and he was in no hurry to go back into something that was this well guarded.
Carl left a spotter on the hill outside the base in the rocks where he wouldn’t be seen with the instructions of no fire of any kind, not even a match to light his cigarette which didn’t make Jim Sanders very happy at all.
Shawn and Jack went back through to the SGC and went straight to the VIP rooms to see the girls. Lt Amy Scott and Sergeant Julie Collins we doing guard duty that day and were inside with the others while the two male guards were outside the door. When Jack and Shawn got to the room the guards did their job by asking for identification from the tall blond man wearing the BDU’s with the name O’Neill sewn into the front, even though he was with the General he was stopped and searched. Of course Shawn was armed with a 9mm pistol and a knife and he did not have any identification on him and he was detained until they were given the okay by their immediate supervisor of their watch that it was okay for him to pass. Jack was happy with the procedures in place and took steps to have Shawn put into the base identification records with the proper name badges and clearance to go where he wanted on the base within reason.
When they finally got into the room the see the kids Jack was swamped with his girls and Homer wanting attention. John and Cassy were ready for a break and some sunshine after a week stuck inside with the kids and a dog they didn’t waist time getting out but they promised they would be back in two days to help take care of the kids. John told Jack that he really needed to get the kids outside also because of a bad case of cabin fever. The girls were just not able to handle being inside this much and wanted to go out and play.
Jack and Shawn took Julie and Amy with them along with Jen and Angela off the base for lunch. He dropped Homer off at the kennels on base and gave the dog a pat on the head as he was leaving. He suddenly had the image of looking up at the table in his dining room and seeing Julie and Amy screaming for help while he was biting at their ankles, he had the feeling of power and was very happy to have treed these people that came into the house possibly trying do harm the humans. She had to protect them, it was her job.
Jack pulled his hand away while looking down at the little basset with her tail waging. She knew she had done a good job of guarding the house. Jack went over to the office at the kennel and got some of the treats that they use to train the guard dogs and gave Homer some while telling her what a good dog she was.
He then went back into the trainer and told him he wanted to have her trained, the trainer made the comment that a basset is a very smart dog but they are hard to train because they’re very stubborn and hard headed so that means they want to do things their way.
He told Jack that he would start right away; Jack knew he was the best trainer and kennel master mainly because of the he treated the dogs. He was kind and caring using treats and praise to get the dogs to do what he wanted them to do and they were happy to do whatever he told them to.
As Jack left the kennels Homer was wagging her tail and bouncing on her front legs making her ears swing around. Jack smiled again and gave her some more attention before he left to take the group out for lunch.
When Jack had come home Friday night he had a driver take him home because he was tired and he had left his car on base. There wasn’t enough room to fit four adults and two children into his Camaro so he gave the keys to Sam’s Corvette to Amy telling her to take Shawn with her and to be careful with the car it was a custom with a monster engine and her pride and joy just like his Camaro was his. Both cars sucked down the gas but they were so much fun to drive that it was worth it. Jack had seen the way Amy had been watching Shawn and he had caught Shawn giving he little redheaded security guard the once over while he thought she was looking the other way. Both of them knew what was going on but Shawn had never been around another human female besides his mother and did not know how to react to them. Shawn was more than a little shy with the women. Jack told them where he was going after conferring with the guards and his children as to where they wanted to go for lunch. Shawn had never been to a restraint before so he had no idea what to expect.
Jack wanted steak and the children wanted pizza, it was finally decided to go for the steak slightly disappointing the girls but Jack didn’t want trouble from Sam when she got home for feeding them nothing but junk food and fast food, he told them that he would compromise with ice cream afterward if they ate all the food on their plates. That made the girls happy again and the pizza was forgotten till later. They knew it was not that hard to get what they wanted out of their Daddy, he might be a big important General at work but he was their Daddy and he would do anything to make them happy.
Jack buckled the girls in then started the car after he made sure that Julie had her seatbelt on, he pulled out with Amy and Shawn close behind them.
It was about one in the afternoon when they pulled into the parking lot to go inside. Amy was so excited about driving the Colonel’s car she couldn’t stop talking about it, they got a table for six and one booster chare for Angela. Jan was still small for nine but she refused to use a booster chair so she could barely see over the top of the table. Jack solved this problem by having her sit on his lap. She loved to be held by her Daddy and it made it easer for Jack to cut her meat and he also didn’t mind holding her and playing games at the table with both of his girls. Julie cut the meat for Angela helping her when necessary.
Shawn had spent most of his life with very little contact with other people. None of which were from Earth except his mother. He couldn’t even claim Earth residence this was the first time he had been to the world, it was decimated in his time period, what the Bugs didn’t take or use they destroyed.
When the family came in and sat at the table across from them Shawn didn’t know what to think, the man and woman were with their two boys and all of them were extremely heavy. Both of the adults were well over four hundred pounds and the kids were heaver that Jack and his daughter together, Shawn had no idea what to think, if they were attacked by the Bugs now these people would not be able to defend themselves at all and the Bugs would feed six of their solders for a week on just one of the adults. Jack quietly told him not to stare at them and he would discuss it later.
They finished their meal and left with the girls jumping up and down with excitement of getting ice creams.

Carl had been told that the children they wanted were with four adults two men and two women in two different cars and got the descriptions of the cars.
Carl had been given a list of the places that were popular stops for the O’Neill family and started the search, he knew the odds were good of finding them and they weren’t too bad of odds that they could get the kids and collect the money without too much trouble, this looked like a double date with the kids along.
Carl was not given a description of anybody except for the kids he was supposed to get. He was supposed to go into the house and steal them during the night but they were not going to the house at night so he thought this was the next best thing. The old man wouldn’t put up a fight with the kids close by in case one of them or maybe both of them would get hurt. Easy money, he located the cars and pulled in next to the corvette opening the door of the van they were driving which was an old rusted blue Ford slamming it into the corvette and then slamming it shut, the other two got out the other side.
Jack and his group were sitting outside at the picnic table when the van pulled up and Jack was pissed about the guy putting a dent into Sam’s pride and joy. He stood up as the men approached.
Carl wasn’t thinking too much about the man in front of him he was thinking about the villa he wanted to buy in lower latten America where he couldn’t be touched by the law of the United States, giving him the right to do whatever he wanted now in order to get there.
Amy and Julie didn’t like the look of the three men coming toward the table. They quietly pulled their pistols and got the hands of the children, they knew if there was a problem their jobs were to protect the children at all cost. Amy told the girls to go wash their hands and to hurry inside but not to come out until they were told to. The girls ran off to do as they were told while Amy and Julie slowly backed away with their weapons drawn but under the back of their coats so that the people inside couldn’t see what they were doing.
Jack was getting that feeling that things were about to go bad and saw out of the corner of his eye that the kids were being moved out of harms way as quickly as possible. Shawn had developed the same sense of danger as his Dad so he also stood as the men approached.
Carl now had a chance to see both men close up and he did not like what he saw. The gray haired man was well built and didn’t show any sign of ageing that he thought a man in his position would. He had expected a soft chair bound General but what he saw in front of him was lethal with a look of a man who had seen a lot of death in his day. The younger man looked a lot like the older one with the same brown eyes and jaw line; they were about the same height and build. The younger man had the same look that promised a quick death to those that needed it.
Carl went to the older man with the other two going to the younger one, they thought that he would be the more dangerous of the two.
Carl gave a half smile and cocked his head to the side a little. “Just give us the kids and we’ll go away without having to kill all these people who are watching us.”
Jack’s response was too fast for the men Carl had brought with him to see, Jack slammed his palm into the point of Carl’s jaw dropping him like a rock then he pulled his pistol giving the other two a single shot to the head each. Even Shawn was surprised at the speed at which the attack was carried out.
Julie had been watching from the bathroom door which was facing the table they were sitting at. All she saw as a blur of movement from the General and all three men were on the ground.
There were three families inside but they were on the other side of the parlor and the employees were busy doing their job so nothing was noticed until the shots were fired. Julie quickly told Amy what was happening were the kids couldn’t hear then she went out to take care of crowd control and keeping the area cleared of onlookers.
Jack slapped Carl a couple of times to bring him around but it took a while and the police got there quickly after the call of shots fired. Jack showed them his papers and license to carry which al SGC members were required to be armed at all times when they left the base so the police were not surprised when they saw that it was him.
Jack told them that this was a kidnapping in progress and the threat made about killing everybody inside if the kids were not handed over quietly. Then he told them that he would need to take the only living member of the group for interrogation as a matter of national security. By saying what he did which was true the police backed away to stand guard until the FBI and a couple of other groups converged on the seen. Jack had Carl removed to the base for interrogation of classified nature and only those with the security level high enough would get in.
When Carl came too he was restrained in the infirmary with guards all around him. At which point he proceeded to soil himself.
Jack had the girls back in their room with Amy and Julie still with them; he had given them his gratitude for the expert handling of the situation and told them that there would be special notation in their files. He would do a lot more than that but he wasn’t able to tell them that at this time.
Jack went to Carl and looked down at the man which sent chills down his spine. Carl would have done anything to save himself at this point, even prison would be better that anything this man would do to him but he didn’t have any choices left.
Jack had been thinking about what he was going to do.
Carl got a wild look in his eye.
“You can’t hold me like this, I want my lawyer, I have rights you know and I an’t say’n noth’n till I get my lawyer!!”
Jack just looked at him for a moment.
“Who’s your lawyer and I will call him for you.”
Of course Jack wouldn’t have done that but it was information he could use if the guy had a lawyer.
“I ain’t got one; I want a court appointed Lawyer.”
Jack smiled; this was a real low life.
“Your rights ended the second you tried to take my kids, which means you were trying to get information on a top secrete operation, which means that your ass is mine.”
Carl turned white as a ghost. “Go to Hell, I ain’t say’n noth’n”
“You don’t have to.”
Jack laid his hand on Carl’s forehead and searching for the information he wanted. He got phone numbers and he could hear the voice of the person on the other end of the line but no addresses.
“Now about that business of going to Hell, I’ve been there and as a matter of fact I would introduce you to So’kar myself if he wasn’t already dead.”
Shawn had told him of an incident where he was trapped under some rubble when a group of Bugs attacked a human and ate the poor guy right in front of him, the smell of his blood covered the sent of where he was hiding but it was still horrible to watch.
Jack called Shawn over and asked if he could use the memory. Shawn agreed so Jack pulled the memory and pushed it into Carl with the thought that this was what he was condemning the world to by helping the people he was working for. Then Jack pushed in the memories of what Ba’al had done and the implanting of the Goa’uld and Tok’ra. It was too much for Carl’s mind to handle he went permanently psychotic with nothing to think of but the images of death and destruction at the forefront of every thought. There wasn’t a drug out there that could help him forget. Jack searched his mind and knew there was nothing left of a reasonable thought. With what he had in his brain now he wouldn’t be violent, all he wanted to do was wait quietly for death to relieve his suffering but with modern medicine and a good hospital he was sure to live a long life of pain and suffering.
The people that were watching in the room didn’t see much, just Jack holding the man’s head for a couple of minuets. They were told to take him to a mental hospital when the man started shaking and babbling about demons, bugs and snakes along with something about the blood of So’kar

Sam was getting tired and she missed her children, the morning sickness was coming on with a vengeance and when that wasn’t causing her grief her hunger for odd foods was driving her and everyone around her to drinking, there wasn’t any alcohol for a couple of million light years so they were in trouble. She couldn’t sleep without Jack which made her grumpy and she wasn’t able to concentrate on what she was doing so as a group they decided to send her back to the SGC so Jack could take care of her while they got some work done.
Daniel was voted to do the honors of getting her to go home so they could get something done but he couldn’t say it that way. He finally thought of something that would work. Daniel told her that the kids needed their Mom and missed her which got the tears rolling, he handed her a box of Kleenex and promised that if she would go back to stay with the girls he would send a letter to Jack telling him to make her a pineapple upside down cake every day and she knew he would do it for her. That and she could get the onion rings with cheese and mustard with chilly over the top that she had been wanting for the past three days.
He also promised that when he got back he would personally make her a crunchy peanut butter sandwich with raisins and bananas. She was almost drooling at this point so he helped her pack her clothes and laptop that had all her information she needed to work at home and sent her through the gate.
Daniel had been through all the food cravings with Sam when she was pregnant with Angel which caused everybody to get arrested in Jack’s home town at one point or another so he knew that the best person to handle this situation was not him, it was Jack.
Sam came through the wormhole where she was greeted by her family which included Shawn now. She started crying again because she swore the kids had grown a foot while she was away for a whole week and a half. Jack took her into his arms to comfort her and got a chest full of tears and snot while his wife sobbed and apologized for being gone for so long. Jack felt something rubbing against his ear and looked over to see that she had a letter in her hand which was crushed and waded but it was addressed to him. She settled down a little then went for a set of hugs and kisses from the girls and even put a few tears and some snot on Shawn’s shirt in a way of greeting.
Jack would never say it out loud but hormone hell had arrived. She hadn’t been quite this bad with Angela and Jan was adopted so this was something a little different. Jack needed to get her to their quarters and settled down some when she handed him the letter from Daniel.
Jack was trying to read it in it’s crumpled state while the kids were screaming for attention and Homer was barking and bouncing on her front legs or doing a little dance with just the front two legs for attention also. She was really glad to see her other human again.
Jack gathered his whole family and took them in the right direction when Sam turned to him and asked if he could get her that pineapple upside down cake now. She was just dieing for a slice with a glass of milk and she wanted some Oreos too.
Jack was wondering who this person that looked like his wife was. He was thinking of alternate universe’s but the quantum mirror was at area 51 that didn’t mean there weren’t others. He deposited them in the room with the dog and got orders from the girls for their treats then enlisted Shawn’s help to bring the required food for survival to the females of the house.
“You know this is all your fault don’t you?”
Shawn looked puzzled for a moment,
“Why is that?”
“You and John are in there causing all these hormones to be released into her system and I’m glad you’re here to help deal with what you’re causing.”
Shawn was smiling at the comment but he was glad that he was here to help, anything he could do to be with his family which were all dead in his time.

Logie transported into the room just as Jack and Shawn came back from the food run for the girls and Sam. Shawn had known the Asgard but this was the first time he had seen one wearing clothes and carrying a pistol and a knife, he even had on boots.
“Logie, buddy, what’s happening in the world of the Asgard?”
“I was making the modifications to the Doohickey with the devices you specified and had some other ideas.”
Shawn knew the word that the Asgard had used but he wasn’t able to figure out what it was he was referring to.
“Excuse me but what kind of Doohickey are you talking about?”
“It is the name of the ship that I am using at this time until Jack and Sam come back to work with us again.”
“Is this ship different than other Asgard ships?”
“Yes, it was modified for human comfort while Samantha was searching for Jack and me. We were lost on an unknown planet several of your years ago. Thor has tried to get me to use a different ship for some time now but I like the human modifications and have gotten quite used to hot showers and comfortable beds with quilts.”
“Why are you wearing clothes?”
“I was forced to wear clothes while on the planet with Jack because I did not have the technology available to make the device which regulates our body temperature and I like the feel of clothing now. I also had to run and walk across rough and hot ground with my bare feet so the idea of shoes or boots is very appealing now and the socks make my feet feel better.”
Logie had on a modified pair of sunglasses with a black baseball cap to go along with his black uniform, he was also wearing the gold leaf of a Colonel on his collar, and again it was better not to ask so Shawn just stayed back and listened.
Jack introduced Shawn as his son and tried to explain his being there at such an advanced age while Sam was still carrying him as an embryo but he went glassy eyed while trying to explain it and Shawn took over with Sam’s help.
After that was finished Logie told them of his idea of using dimensional fazed explosives instead of the hyper drive you have proposed, it will more controllable and accurate; we just need to program it to faze out on launch and faze back into our dimension when it reaches the target area.
“That’ll be great but we need to keep a tight lid on this to keep this technology out of the hands of the Goa’uld.” Logie was in complete agreement.
“Now it’s time for some fun.” Logie had a bass guitar that appeared with a flash of light and Jack went in the other room to get his electric guitar. The kids moved with Sam to the other side of the room as a hologram of a band appeared. Logie didn’t have enough fingers to play a standard guitar but the bass was different and he could work it just fine.
Sam would have never thought of Jack being a fan of AC/DC but there he was playing and singing Thunder along with the band. Sam had also never thought she would see one of the Asgard tearing up a base guitar. Several people came by to watch as they always did when Jack and Logie started playing; some even brought their video cameras. It had become quite a fun thing at their parties to have the videos playing and the music was good.
Jack would slow it down after a while and start playing things from Eric Clapton which always brought tears to Sam’s eyes when he sang to her and now that the hormones were loose she was in real trouble.
Jack finally saw what his songs were doing to Sam, but Shawn and the kids loved the music, he went up and helped put the children to bed, saying goodnight to Shawn and Logie.

The next day Jack started training Shawn in advanced hand to hand combat and the use of the short swords. Shawn was already good but he knew that Jack would make him even better. Shawn had seen Jack at his deadliest when the kidnapers tried to force him to give up his children. The speed and accuracy of his attack was phenomenal.
Shawn’s mother the future Sam had learned most of what she knew from Jack but some things that he would teach Sam would be a little different than what he would teach a man because of the physiological differences of men and woman.
Jack started him on speed and strength training with and without weapons trading off with Teal’c and even Daniel when he came back to Earth. Daniel was smaller and faster than most of the people of the SGC, all but Jack and Teal’c but still a force to be reckoned with. He had proven himself many times in close quarters combat to be somebody to be respected for his skill in combat as well as in the academic field.
Between the training, weapons design and giving all the information he could remember about the enemy and the attack on this universe that the Future Sam was able to give him along with the information he picked up talking to the few survivors that he had been able to find, they had a fairly good idea what was going to happen.
If the informers on Earth had information about Shawn’s being in this time frame then things would go differently but only a few people knew about Shawn’s real identity. Jack had used the same story they had used for his young clone John about him being a son from a former girlfriend that had come to look his father up.
Jack made up a good story about the woman that he had the affair with twenty three years ago when he was just out of the academy, giving a great description of her and of a great couple of weeks on leave in Hawaii. The story was given in the mess hall to Daniel who just happened to ask the right question while sitting next to the gossip hounds of the base. It was quickly spread around the entire base and to the wives outside the base because it was not classified which got the women talking. Mostly about how bad this was for Sam to see Jack’s child and to have him paying so much attention to him while ignoring his girls because he now has a male child.
Sam was part of the cover story and she had fun watching the other women on base giving Jack the cold shoulder while the same people were coming by to make sure Sam and the girls had everything they needed and to try and get more gossip.
Jack really made a big deal out of giving Shawn a rank of Caption in the United States Air Force by order of the President and Joint Chief’s. This made an even bigger story to spread around about special treatment of the General’s son. This cause some problems for Shawn but he didn’t care he had lived his life without them before and he would go on living without them now.
Jack and Teal’c took turns doing training on the F302’s and to their surprise he taught as much as he learned benefiting both sides of the group. Shawn had spent a few years flying combat missions and dog fighting with the actual enemy they would be facing.
New shielding technology was installed on all the gates at all the bases and friendly worlds that would allow only cretin races of beings like the humans and Asgard to use then, everything else would be boxed in with a one way force field blocking them in but allowing the people on the outside to fire weapons into the field. Jack made the comment about shooting fish in a barrel which received a raised eyebrow from Teal’c and Shawn. Jack just smiled and told them to ask Daniel for the origin and meaning of the fraise he was the linguist

The F302’s were proving to be the best small fighters to handle the job coming up but the Asgard had some short range small fighter craft, the Asgard and the free Jaffa were also building their crafts along with the modifications and weaponry while giving input on them and making other modifications when it was approved by all involved.
With the ability of the F302 to open a hyperspace window it had an advantage over the death gliders of the Jaffa which meant they would need to be trained to fly them which was not an easy task in the short amount of time they had. The Jaffa were good pilots in the death gliders so it wouldn’t take too much extra training and the instruments were being made to use Goa’uld as the language which all the Jaffa knew but few could read English.
On Earth the other world leaders that knew about the Stargate were informed of the impending attack and to make their preparations ultra top secret and to step up there manufacturing of the F302’s which would receive the weapons and shielding technology at a later time to keep the modifications out of the hands of the collaborators on Earth. Only the heads of the countries were informed of the coming attack so that they could make it look like they were making plans to beef up their arsenal of war plains. Not many people would know that the F302’s were able to go into space and open a hyperspace window so they could go to other planets and solar systems.
Shawn had told them that the big ships could go into hyperspace but like the death gliders the small ships were only slow light speed but they were very maneuverable and had a some heavy firepower with energy based weapons combining that with a strong shield they were hard to beat in standard space fights with the F302’s, before the modifications were made didn’t have a chance. The main thing to do was to get to the main transport ships before the fighters were launched and destroy them before they left the launch bays.
Jack had contacted Kalyet the Ashrack that he had befriended after his capture once. Jack had defeated him in combat and he had helped Jack destroy Ba’al then Kalyet took over Ba’al’s empire making it a free domain for all Goa’uld and Jaffa.
Kalyet was given the plans for the ships that would be needed to defined his region of space from the invasion while asking for troupes to help stop the main force as it came through and would be concentrated in one area hopefully so that they could attack at the main entrance point of this galaxy.

Jack knew that all the stress of the preparations was getting to Sam and that she had been thinking about what the future Sam had gone through. He was also aware that Shawn was thinking the same thing. He had watched his brother and mother die and now he had met the rest of his family. Neither one of them could go for very long at a time without thinking that this could be the last time that they would see the whole family alive.
The stress was causing Sam problems and she was loosing weight and not sleeping much at night. Jack had all the other people in the think tank working to solve the problems of the coming invasion so he used his communications device that Logie had given him to call the little Asgard.
Logie appeared a couple of hours later with a questioning look on his little gray face. “How may I be of assistance to you Jack O’Neill?”
“I need to take the family on a short trip but I need to be able to get back to the SGC quickly if I’m needed. How would you like to take a little vacation with us?”
Jack made arrangements with Amy and Julie to get their clothes together for guard duty after asking if they would be willing to take the job, they both agreed to the proposal. Logie beamed everybody to Jack’s cabin.
Sam was going to protest that they had too many things going to leave but Jack told her that he had everything under control. That didn’t make Sam happy but she knew that if Jack said he had it under control he did. He was the General in charge of this whole mess so she bit her tongue and went along with his plan.
Logie also beamed in a replacatior and another device that Sam took a while to figure out what it was. It was a force field generator with some extra device attached. Jack assured her that if the SGC needed them it would be only a matter of minuets before they would be beamed back to fix what ever problem they came up with.
It was mid summer now and the water was fine, Sam, Julie and Amy took the children to the lake where they could watch them jump off the shallow area of the dock into the water and splash round while the older women stripped down to their swimsuits and lay back to take in the summer sun.
Jack, Logie and Shawn were busy working on getting the grill ready too cook. Logie was used to eating normal food now and it was strange that he was actually changing some of the gray color to more of a pink and Jack had noticed that he was filling out with a little more muscle than the other Asgard.
Logie was fascinated with the children playing in the water, he had learned the pleasure of hot showers but he was not at all prepared to get into the water that was cold and had aquatic wild life swimming freely around in it. He was dressed in shorts like the humans were now and it was no problem to go without his boots in the soft grass so he discarded them also like the humans were doing.
While the coals of the grill were heating up he walked to the dock looking over the edge to see what the girls were doing in the water. He was so intent watching the children that he didn’t see Shawn walk up behind him. When Shawn spoke to him he turned but his foot slopped off the dock, his little arms swung wildly as he tried to regain his balance but it was no use. Shawn reached out to grab him but only caught hold of one finger which slipped. Logie landed with a loud splash in the three foot area where the girls were playing, he came up sputtering and a little panicked but not harmed. He was able to touch the bottom of the lake and his chin was just above the water. He was starting to float, the more he relaxed the lighter he got in the water, and this was not like space it was floating with the ability to easily change direction. He had lost his sunglasses when he fell in but he could feel them with his feet. While he watched Jan was taking a breath of air and holding it then going under the water to pick up rocks off the bottom to throw further out into the lake making it ripple. For a moment he was thinking of physics and fluid dynamics then decided that he should just do as the small humans were doing and have fun. It took him several tries to get his classes off the bottom but he was having fun doing it.
Logie slipped his hat and glasses back on and went over by the children to scoop up rocks and throw them into the water which made the girls laugh he even had a smile on his face which was hard to see but it was there.

Shawn didn’t see the attack coming, it came out of the setting sun hitting him in the midsection throwing him several feet back to the point of him loosing his balance and falling off the edge of the dock into the deeper water, he was only wearing cutoffs and a tee shirt no shoes so it was not a big deal to fall into the water. His attacker was trying to escape back to her lounge chair. Shawn grabbed the edge of the dock and heaved himself out of the water while doing a forward role and standing next to Amy. She was wearing a red bikini and squealed when he caught her by the arm to spin her and picked her up. She wrapped her arm around his shoulders then started screaming and kicking her legs to half way try to get away but not hard enough to get him to let go of her. He was young and hansom with all that blond hair and muscles and the eyes that were just like his fathers, dark and beautiful. Amy had been watching him for a while and had caught him watching her also so it wasn’t just a schoolgirl crush that only she was working on.
Shawn walked over to the edge of the dock and easily jumped in while holding her securely. He was in the shallow end by where the kids and Logie were playing but they were over by the bank of the lake now so he did not endanger them by jumping too close to their position. The water was only waist deep there so he didn’t even get her hair wet. But he did continue to hold her telling her that if she wasn’t still he might drop her. She was in his arms with her head resting on his shoulder and her arms around his neck, she didn’t want to leave, and she was right where she wanted to be.
Julie was a little jealous that Amy had made the move on this gorgeous man before she could. He was quite a catch but Amy had been faster to take the opportunity when it was presented to make her move and it worked perfectly. Julie was wishing there was another O’Neill son somewhere that she might claim for herself. Then she started thinking of unfortunate accidents that might befall her friend like falling face first into a hot iron while ironing her clothes. You know nothing life threatening but just a little disfiguring.

The tall blond haired brown eyed man walked up to the guards shack. “I need to see General O’Neill as soon as possible, please.”
“No problem Captain O’Neill, just go to the first elevator and check in with security they’ll call if there’s a problem, did you forget your badge again?”
The man gave him a strange look before going into the complex. Daniel and Teal’c were entering the complex at that moment greeting the man as they came close.
Teal’c was the first to great the man. “Captain O’Neill I thought you were with the General at his cabin?”
“Who are you and why is everybody calling me Captain O’Neill?” Daniel and Teal’c both gave a surprised look “Security!”

Nobody was ever too far from their weapon at the cabin the entire trip but everybody also took every precaution to make sure that the weapons were secure and in areas that the children couldn’t get too without someone noticing. The girls were told about the firearms with special emphasis as to what could happen if they were to play with them possibly causing injury or death to themselves or someone else. Jack was not going to have another child lost because of his or anybody else’s weapon was left unattended. The only way he could do that was to teach them about the weapon.
Shawn was taking long walks with Amy in the evenings, where she was quite amused that he knew almost nothing about women. The only female he had ever been around was his mother and she didn’t see any reason to tell him about the birds and the bees when all the other human females she knew about were dead. He knew about basic biology and where baby animals came from. He was shocked when Amy stopped him by the far side of the lake, and laid down in the soft grass. She patted the ground beside her in a silent invitation for him to lie beside her. When he was comfortable on the ground she kissed him.
Shawn had kissed his mother on the cheek all the time telling her that he loved her like all children do, but this was different than a kiss on his mother’s cheek. Amy took her time and after he relaxed somewhat he found out a lot more about women that he didn’t know.
Amy didn’t do too much with him that evening mostly just necking in the woods like a couple of teenagers, when it started getting dark they started back to the cabin. Jack was standing at the grill on the back deck when he saw the two of them walking up hand in hand. They made their greeting and walked past him on the way inside, Jack reached up and picked some grass out of Amy’s hair; she turned red but didn’t say anything. Jack just smiled at Shawn and gave him the thumbs up, saying “That’s my boy.”
Shawn of course had no idea what was going on, Jack gave him another smile. “Don’t say anything to your mother about what happened this afternoon with you too, just tell her you were walking around the lake, Okay.”
Shawn grinned at him then his shirt moved a little, Shawn had a hickey on his neck, Jack took him by the arm and pulled him off the deck. He was still grinning when he buttoned the next to the top button on Shawn’s shirt. “Son, when you get in the house, go into my closet and get the turtleneck sweater out and put it on. Do not let your mother see you without your shirt on or your neck uncovered for the next couple of days.”
Shawn had a perplexed look on his face. “Your mother is carrying you and your brother as we speak, if she sees the marks on your neck it’s going to start a crying spree that may last for weeks that her little boy is growing up and she will hate Amy for taking her son away from her so soon after she met you. Believe me you do not want a crying pregnant woman upset with you. Just cover up and everything will be fine.” Shawn nodded his head to the affirmative and went inside to do what he was told to do.
Homer saw her chance the minuet Jack pulled Shawn off the deck making a bee line to the unguarded pile of meat setting next to the grill. Being a long dog had the advantage. She was able to reach the meat without much effort taking all she could. When Jack came back onto the deck she had already eaten three hamburgers four hot dogs and two steaks. She rolled over showing her extended belly to Jack asking for forgiveness at her moment of weakness.
Jack couldn’t really scold her for what she had already done but he was not happy about the loss of his burgers, there was plenty of meat so he took the remaining two steaks back inside to wash them and get more meat ready to cook.
He told Sam what had happened to the meat so she started making more hamburger patties while he went into their room and changed his shirt. While the women finished the other preparations in the kitchen Shawn went outside to help with the grill. They were soon all at the picnic table eating supper. Sam was watching Jack and Shawn as they ate. “Jack? Its seventy five degrees outside today, why are you and Shawn wearing long sleeve turtle neck sweaters, you’re both sweating.”
Both men looked like deer in the headlights. “There was a cool breeze coming off the lake earlier while we were cooking, but it stopped now sooooooo.”
He was having trouble coming up with a good excuse and he was never good at lying to Sam. She could always tell. He knew he should have told Shawn to use a band aid instead of the sweater but Jan had used the last one for a scraped elbow.
Sam pointed the knife she was cutting the steak with at the guy’s. “Take off the sweaters now I want to see what you’re trying to hide.”
The men knew they were beat; there was nothing left to do but take their punishment. Both of them pulled off their sweaters at the same time. Jack of course was clean nothing to hide but the hickey on Shawn’s neck stood out like a neon sign. Sam stared at it wide eyed as did the children who were trying to figure out what caused such a big bruise on his neck. Amy’s face turned as red as her hair, she made a quick exit for the house asking to be excused as she left.
Sam put her hand to her stomach and the tears started, Jan and Angel came over giving their mom a hug and wondered what she was crying about this time but they wisely did not say anything. Logie was quietly chewing up the finely cut up meat and vegetables from his plate.

The man in the holding cell would not say anything except that he needed to talk to General O’Neill. Teal’c and Daniel had tried for hours to get the man that looked exactly like Shawn O’Neill to say anything that would let them know what he was up to and why he was trying to infiltrate the SGC. Teal’c was scowling at the man doing his best intimidation routine which would work on anybody except someone that was as stubborn as Jack O’Neill himself. This man seemed to not be fazed at all by Teal’c.
Daniel sat down at the table holding his usual cup of coffee which he had offered to the prisoner but was politely refused. “One more time friend, what are you doing trying to get into a top secret base?”
“I need to talk to General Jack O’Neill personally about a very important event that is about to happen.”
“You know that you can tell us and we can relay the message to him?”
“Yes, I do know that but I need to tell him, if you cannot let me see him than I need to speak to Colonel Samantha O’Neill who also works at this base as soon as possible.”
She is also not available at this time, so let me as another question; why are you trying to impersonate Captain Shawn O’Neill to get into this base?” The man turned white, Daniel thought he was going to faint and reached out to steady him so that he wouldn’t fall.
“It took a moment for him to stabilize and get some color back. “May I please speak to Shawn O’Neill?”
“If we can get some answers out of you, I’ll arrange for Shawn to come down and see you.”
Daniel was bluffing but if it got the information they needed then he was all for lying to him or in this case stretching the truth a little. “My name is Jonathon Daniel O’Neill; I am the son of Jack and Samantha O’Neill, brother of Shawn, Janet and Angela O’Neill. I’ve traveled back in time about twenty three years to warn of an invasion that will wipe out everything in this universe unless it is stopped.”
Daniel had already been told of the death of John O’Neill as a child and how it had devastated Sam and Shawn both. “John, are you from an alternate dimension?” He looked a little shocked but shook his head to the affirmative. “How did you know?”
“In this dimension Jonathon O’Neill died as a child.”
“In my dimension Shawn died of a ruptured appendix when we were thirteen.” John looked sad still yet about the death of his brother so many years ago.
“Mom was never the same after he died. Then about three years ago she was killed on a raid of a Hubb’vee camp where they were holding fifteen beings captive, they would take them out one at a time and slaughter them in front of the other prisoners like they didn’t exist. The group had started with fifty. I was able to get five out alive but Mom was killed. I used a Zat to vaporize her body before I had to go or they would have fed on her also.”
There were tears in both Daniel and John’s eyes one for the loss of a brother and mother and Daniel’s at the thought of the loss of Sam who he loved like a sister. Daniel got up and went to the control room where the communicator was to contact Logie if there was a problem.

Jack had Logie beam everybody to the SGC then Logie beamed Jonathon O’Neill to his ship and did a DNA comparison with Jack and Sam’s records and also compared it with Shawn’s DNA. He was who he said he was. Since JD was from an alternate dimension Logie made some minor adjustments to his DNA, he shut off the premature graying of his hair and shut off the gene that caused the arthritis in Jack’s knees so that JD wouldn’t have that problem. That would keep him from having a problem with dimension cascade failure. He said that Shawn wouldn’t be affected because he was not from a different dimension. It wouldn’t cause a problem for him or the child that Samantha was carrying just like it didn’t affect Jack when they went back to 1969.
When JD (as he was now being called because of Jack’s clone John) returned to the SGC Jack had a new set of problems. JD told of the life he and his mother had as he was growing up, he gave the address of the planet that Jack had sent Sam to just before the Hubb’vee swarmed the complex and again it was destroyed by the nuclear explosion of the self destruct as Jack was guarding her only escape route. It was to a different planet than the one she went to from this dimension. He told them about how his mother had made a ship with the advanced technology of this planet and how the shielding and dampeners from the Asgard ships had shown her how to make them for this ship. The ship would move so fast that it would crush the people inside if not for the dampeners; the ship would also burn up in the atmosphere if not for the shields. JD said the only thing she did that she would have done differently was that she made the ship too strong and it was very heavy but with the antigravity drive it wasn’t a problem, it was just a little hard to steer sometimes.
Sam now felt much better knowing that her baby’s were safe, then she thought of something else. Shawn and Jonathon were here now and they couldn’t get back to their time or dimension which had already changed because of them being there at all. Now she was going to have to name the children different names then their two older selves.
Jack was happy that they could start the name games again; his family had grown from two little girls to six kids in just a very short time.

JD had learned to fight with the Asgard fighters that were smaller and very fast but a little cramped for someone of JD’s size. They had also made modifications to those craft for the war with the Hubb’vee.
The planet Jack sent Sam to in the other dimension was not an Ancient outpost but it was on the unknown list so the Goa’uld didn’t know about it and there was and advanced civilization that had disappeared a long time ago leaving the technology and a lot of ruins behind. Jack got the address of the planet and a description of where things were of interest so that he could send a team of scientist to investigate and set up another base of operations there if it was feasible. LD told them that they had found some interesting devices that could form gravity waves and small black hole’s or drive a gravity powered ship that would use the gravity of a planet or large asteroid to pull itself toward it then antigravity to push away from it as it was passed in a slingshot fashion causing tremendous speeds at very little cost of fuel.
It was also greatly satisfying to send a gravity bomb into a Hubb’vee Mothership and watch it become the size of a baseball in a matter of seconds. It did not become a small black hole but it did cause problems if it was not sent into a strong gravity field like a sun or gas giant which was easy to do with a gravity wave.
Sam was in Astrophysics heaven listening to what he was describing like it was an everyday thing to create a gravity drive.
The only way Jack was able to keep her from going to the planet was to tell her that when they found something of importance they would bring it back to the SGC for her to play with and she needed to stay with the girls right now or they would miss their mommy. Jack was not at all ashamed of using his children to get what he wanted and that was to keep her on Earth where he needed her for the time being to help design the weapons and the best way for them to be mounted on the different space craft that would cause the least recoil or spin the craft when it is fired in zero gravity.

Daniel and Teal’c were part of the team that was sent to the planet JD said the other Jack has sent his mother to in their dimension. There were eight people in the team with Teal’c leading the expedition. Daniel was in charge of the scientist with Teal’c taking care of the security along with three other marines loaded for bear. The city was about fifteen miles from the gate in a south eastern direction from the Stargate. The motorcycles and trailers were being used again but Teal’c used a cycle with a much larger motor that had a larger trailer attached to it incase they found something large and heavy to bring back. JD had said that the road was fairly smooth into the city and in the dimension that he had come from there wasn’t any large predators. Jack had warned Teal’c that this was not the dimension that JD had come from and to be prepared for the worst just incase.
Teal’c had been thinking about that a lot on the drive over to the city. They stopped on the outskirts of the city taking in the view; it stretched for as far as the eye could see across the horizon. Teal’c stopped at what looked like a warehouse taking off his helmet and picking up his two P90’s and his staff weapon. He had one of the marines stay with the scientist taken the other two with him to investigate the building.
The three scientist that were with Daniel were complaining about the jet lag they were feeling, the heat, the seats on the cycles were not as comfortable as they should be and they were afraid they were going to get raw from the constant bouncing from the rough road they had to travel. Daniel walked up to the marine and smiled. “Do you think it would do any good to shoot just one of them or would they just complain about the increased work load now that they had to do his work also?” The marine smiled back. “There’s only one way to fine out for sure.”
There was one female scientist in the group so he was watching his language. He fired a round off in the air to get their attention. “Shut the hell up you babbling idiots.” That got him and Daniel a heated stair from all three of them.
The men inside had all noticed the sticky feel of the floor and the further in the building they went the stickier it became. When the shot was fired outside they all turned at the same time which is the only thing that saved their lives. Behind them was a group of gray spiders that had the center body the size of a full grown German Shepard with their legs going out twice that size on each side. One of the marines empted his bladder right then. Teal’c leveled his staff weapon and fired as quickly as possible bringing the other two out of a state of shock. Teal’c bellowed out his orders which caused the well trained marines to fall into a combat frame of mind and carefully picked targets while watching in all directions for more threats. There were more spiders on the walls and ceiling that were not as big but still way bigger than they wanted to see ever again. It was hard to move with the sticky floor so progress to the door was slow.
Daniel and the marine outside moved quickly to the door. Daniel pulled his 9mm and was taking aim when two of the smaller spiders fell in front of them rearing up on their hind legs, the spiders gave a hissing rattling noise. The marine kicked the one in front of him sending it flying back into the warehouse while Daniel put three rounds into the body of the spider in front of him. Teal’c shot the spider the marine kicked turning it into a flaming mass of squirming goop. The web that was on the ground was not flammable like most spider webs were, that was a good thing for the people inside the building.
The spider that Daniel shot didn’t go down right away it still tried to charge but Mike put his big boot in the middle of the thing and put a few more rounds into it then kept his foot on it until it stopped moving. Daniel ran back to the cart to retrieve the zats that were stored in the covered box. He handed one to Mike then threw another pair to the marines next to Teal’c. It was time to go hunting. He told Teal’c to keep one for study if possible then he shot the ground off to the side of where the men were standing which made the web disappear with only one shot arching blue lightning as it traveled across the floor. The three marines, Mike, Steve and Jim were having a contest to see how many they could take out. Teal’c and Daniel decided to let the children play their game and just stood watch to make sure no one got hurt.
Mike got one of the smaller ones that was only about three foot across by zating it two times, it balled up in death so he used a stick to push it outside to the three scientists to examine. None of them wanted to go anywhere near the creature and none of them were into entomology. The zats were okay but the staff weapon Teal’c was using was much better at killing with one shot. They loaded the spider onto one of the carts distributing the items to the other carts then started checking the building to see what it had to offer in the way of things they could use after it was cleared. Jim had won by killing thirteen of the spiders with Mike in a close second with eleven but he had two of the big ones on his card as kills.
Daniel and Teal’c decided that it would be best to have JD with them to act as a guide and hopefully the city would be arranged something like the one in his dimension. Daniel was voted to go back to the Stargate to take the spider back and to get JD and more staff weapons. Fifteen miles on foot would have taken a longtime to get there and back but with the motorcycle it was only a quick trip over the fairly flat land.

Shawn and JD had a very tearful reunion when they were finally brought together. They both knew that this was not their brother that they had known and watched die, each had led a different life but there was a bond that could not be denied. It didn’t take too long for them to tell their life stories; there were funny stories and sad stories, times of great hardships and times of great fortune.
Sam and Jack watched as they told the stories and noticed that JD was left handed while Shawn was Right handed. She asked Shawn if his brother was left handed and he confirmed that he was. Jack wanted to know what that meant to her. “It means that they’re mirror twins, they are identical but it’s like one person is looking in a mirror.”
The klaxons were blaring a warning that a traveler was coming through the Stargate, Amy and Julie stayed with the girls while the rest of the group went to the control room to see what was happening.
Daniel sent this GDO signal through and the steel iris was opened to allow him access to this end of the Stargate. He rode into the embarkation room where the entomologist was almost jumping up and down with excitement. As Daniel was trying to stop the motorcycle the entomologist was trying to pull off the tarp. When the tarp came off they were surprised to find that the spider wasn’t quite as dead as they thought it was. It made a jump for the nearest exit which was right past Jack and moved at an incredibly fast pace down the hall. Sam wasn’t afraid of the spider after all the things she had seen with the SGC over the years what is so exciting about a big spider. Shawn and JD stepped to each side of the hall while the spider went between them and the entomologist was right behind it. Sam went over to the nearest phone to tell Amy and Julie to keep the door closed until the all clear was sounded.
She then called the head of security telling him to shut all the exits and shutdown all the elevators until the spider was caught. Then she set up three teams with nets to try and catch it alive if possible for study. Jack was still staring wide eyed down the hall.
He gave an involuntary shudder. “That was the biggest spider I have ever seen!”
Daniel smiled at his statement. “No Jack, that was one of the small ones, the big ones are about eight feet across and we’ve only seen a small area of the city.”
“JD did you have anything like this in your city?”
“No Daniel, I’ve never seen anything like that before.”
Daniel gave Jack a smile. “Jack we need to take JD with us as a guide and we could use some more backup with staff weapons and zats. Sam turned to Jack. “I need to go this time also. There are going to be things there that only I can figure out and make a decision as to the importance of the things, you know, which ones to bring back and which ones to leave till later.”
Jack couldn’t argue the logic of her statement and it had been confirmed that gate travel was not dangerous to their unborn children. “Okay, but I‘m going also and only after we catch that bug.”
Sam laughed and gave him her biggest smile. “It’s a spider Jack, it’s an arachnid not a bug, it has eight legs. I just hope that it is the only form of arachnid there.”
“What do you mean by that?”
“A spider has a cousin, it’s called a tick. Can you imagine an eight foot tick?” She smiled again and walked off to get ready.
Jack called Colonel Ferris telling him that he was in charge for a couple of days, then he called John and Cassy to have them come back to take care of the girls. Jack then made arrangements to take bug boy, Shawn, JD and the SG team that had just finished off world training from China and Russia.
JD and Shawn could fly space ships but they had no idea how to ride a motorcycle. Jack took Shawn on the back of his bike while Sam took JD, everybody was carrying staff weapons and zats along with the P90s and side arms. Bug boy went with Daniel, the other four had their own bikes with trailers carrying extra food, ammo and medical supplies.
It took over an hour to get from the Stargate to Teal’c’s location because bug boy kept fidgeting and squirming on the back of the bike causing Daniel to slow down so that he wouldn’t slide off the back of the bike.
It had taken him quite a while to locate the spider and capture it then he had to study it for a while. He found that it was rather like the tarantella of South America, not much for poison. It used speed to catch it’s pray and only used a small amount of silk to store it until it was ready to eat. Enzymes were injected into the pray then after it was liquefied the spider would suck the juices out for nourishment. Bug Boy went into great detail while describing the method of ingesting food for the arachnoids. This was his idea of a real vacation.
The helmets had microphones built into them making communications a snap with a control on the handlebar for two way or group communications. They radioed ahead telling Teal’c that they would be coming in soon so that he would have things ready.
Teal’c had mentioned that they had found a large egg sack from the spiders behind one of the creates which set Jerry the entomologist (Bug Boy) on another squirming bouncing fit of excitement.

The warehouse turned out to be a bust besides the egg sack and the make up of the containers which was a kind of plastic that did not get brittle over time and was as tough as steel. The things inside the containers turned out to be useless, it was cloth of some sort that didn’t stand up to time as well as the containers did, as soon as the air hit the material it disintegrated. The Marines did leave one of the big spiders that they had killed but they had vaporized all the rest. Jerry spent the rest of the day and most of the night with the spider and the egg sack, he did give warning that this kind of spider on earth hunted mostly at night, but sometimes at dawn and dusk, they stayed inside the burrows mostly during the day.
The power was still working, which was amazing to Sam and the other scientist so they had lights. Daniel had located the offices and some paperwork that was not too badly damaged by time, Sam got the computer to come on but it was in a language that even Daniel didn’t know. JD said he was never able to read more than a few words but it helped Daniel to do some translations of his own.
The next morning Jack found Daniel and Jerry still playing with the new toys, he left the two Russians with them, deciding that they could do more good working on the computer translations and finding out more about the oversized insects then going with them to find the research facility where the gravity experiments were located. They left plenty of food, ammunition and some of the medical supplies then told them to keep the doors shut until they got back.
Jerry told them to watch out for another kind of spider that was called a trap door spider, they would dig a burrow and weave a door over the top of the burrow covering it with leaves and matter to look like the normal ground but they are very fast at coming out of the burrow to capture pray. He also made mention that the ratio of hunter to pray was usually a ten to one with the small number being the hunter so there was a large amount of something that these things were hunting.
Sam and JD took the lead traveling across town to the research facility. It took a couple of hours to get there and Jack was glad that Daniel had come back to get JD or they would’ve never found the place even with the map he had drawn. When they arrived at the facility it was fenced off with a high chain link fence with the traditional barb wire around the top. JD pointed to the sign on the gate that was closed. “I do know what that is; it’s a warning, danger sign.”
There were poles standing above the building that Jack didn’t like, he picked up a rock and threw it into the yard where it was shot with a laser that vaporized it before it hit the ground. The entire group was moved back. It took just a minuet for Jack to come up with a plan. “Jim, you have a sharpshooters metal, it’s too far to use the Zat but see if you can use the P90 to take out that laser.”
Jim went to a tree and leaned against the trunk to support his weapon. The instant he fired at the laser it returned fire with two shots one vaporizing the bullet that had been fired at it and the next one went down the barrel of the P90 exiting the other end and grazing him across the top of his shoulder. “Damn, I’ve never seen anything that could react that fast before.”
The wound was a clean furrow about a quarter of and inch deep across the top of his shoulder which was cauterized so there was no blood but it was very painful. Everybody was just glad that he had flinched a little as the laser had vaporized the bullet or it would have shot him through the face instead of the shoulder.
Jack looked at JD. “How did you get in the first time in your dimension?”
“We just walked in, there was no power there.”
“Alright, there are no power lines anywhere and everything has power going to it, Sam what is powering all the building around here?”
Jones ,Collins you two go out and find a place to us to spend the night make sure it can be locked from the inside with no holes for our buggy friends to come visit us.
“We’re going to check out the area around here, I want you back in two hours with check ins every thirty minuets, is that clear Lieutenant.”
“Sir, Yes Sir!”
Everybody stuffed more food ammo and an extra med kit in their saddlebags then disengaged from the carts and went their different ways. Sam started in a direction that looked like a shopping center. “We need to check this section out over here first.”
Jack gave her a smile. “You just want to go shopping don’t you?”
“I have a list of things I need like a concave mirror and I also want to see of these people left quickly or if they had time to move their stuff which would be a different problem.”
When they arrived at the shopping center they found all the doors were unlocked with only a few things out of place like it had been dropped on the floor. They looked for bodies or blood on the floor and found nothing. Outside there were a few vehicles parked along the curb but nothing in the streets that would cause a problem.
Sam found a ten inch concave mirror in one of the stores along with some ropes and poles she used something that looked like a conduit bender to get the poles into the shape that she wanted and mounted the mirror so that she could aim with some degree of accuracy. They took the new device and started back to the compound.
Jack spotted a nice red vehicle that looked like a convertible. He checked and the door was open, he checked to see how it was controlled. It did not have a steering wheel but there was a control on the console that was rather like a joystick that would control the car. When he got in, the car lifted off the ground. Sam opened the side door and it lowered back down to about six inches off the ground for her to get in. when he pushed the stick forward the car moved forward, he steered left and right, it would also move sideways and was easy to stop. He pushed a button that had a picture of a car top on it and the top went down. It was much smother than the motorcycles and the height that it could work at varied with the terrain.
They went back to the compound to meet with the others and so that Sam could try her trick with the mirror. Jack insisted that he would use the mirror after she told him what she wanted to do. He was able to stand to the side when he put the mirror and pole over the top of the fence. It was quickly hit with the laser but the beam was reflected back, he used the controls that were attached to the mirror to focus the beam back at the laser and aiming device. It missed the laser but it did cut the pole in half cutting the power to the laser at the same time.
The second laser on the other side of the building front quickly turned and fired. Jack was expecting it to react to the downing of the first laser but not that quickly, he was just barely able to turn the mirror in time to reflect the beam back to the originating point of that laser. It also sputtered and sparked before falling to the ground. Everyone was about to give congratulations to Sam and Jack when a dozen small doors opened around the front of the building. Jack growled his displeasure.
Sam had an idea and got somewhat excited about it. “Why don’t we use the car to land on the roof now that we have the big lasers out of the way? I don’t think the forward facing lasers can aim up.”
“Fine, but I’m going by myself.”
“I need to be there to shut off the defiance system, or do you think you can do that without destroying the entire building?”
“You can go but I’m making the first trip by myself, just in case something happens.”
She knew that Jack would never let her go into harms way now if he could find any other way around it, Teal’c, Shawn and JD would have had a good amount to say about her need to stay in the safe position if Jack had not already do so. It was getting late; Jones and Collins had located a place that would be safe for the night. Caption Jim Simmons USAF was asleep by a tree; he had been given some pain killers to help with the shoulder wound. Jack had Collins watch to make sure nothing tried to use him for lunch while he tried to land the car on the roof. The car was already showing that the people of this planet were using antigravity.
Jack made a pass on the roof without having a problem then he landed the car in what looked like a helicopter landing zone. He got out of the car going carefully to the elevator that was on the roof and pushed the button. The door opened and he walked in. He didn’t see any buttons to select a floor and a voice was asking him a question that he couldn’t understand. He called Sam and JD to ask them if they knew how to tell the elevator what floor he wanted to go to but they could not help him with this question.
Jack walked over to another door and pulled out a string of termite cord wrapping it around the lock and set it off, it burned quickly melting the lock and door handle, he used a knife to pop the door open and went in. He didn’t go in very far before he returned to the vehicle and went back down for Sam and a couple of the Marines.
The Marines were told to clear the top floor and to be cautious not to get hurt or damage any of the instruments in the room. They soon had the entire building cleared and the security system shut off. Sam did have to take the panel apart to get the system to shut off but that wasn’t too big of a deal, the doors and the gates opened letting the others in without a fuss.
It was getting dark when the building was opened so they decided to stay there instead of the location the Marines had found earlier, the bikes and carts were brought in and hot food was prepared.
The next day Jack had two of the Marines go back, one was to get Daniel and Jerry the other was to report to the Stargate and tell them to send a message to the Asgard. It was to let them know that they had found the objective and their help would be greatly welcomed because of the importance of the fine and the short amount of time they had left.

Daniel had been working on the translations for about five hours and he was getting uncomfortable, every time he moved his pistol would catch on one side or the other of the chair. He finally took them off and laid them on the desk out of the way. It was almost dark outside as he looked at the one window in the building, He went outside the office into the main warehouse were Jerry was still dissecting the big spider and trying to finish classifying it by Earth terms (which is all he had to go by anyway.)
Daniel noticed that there was a dark object hanging in the rafters above Jerry. He pulled his flashlight to get a better look. There was three of the large spiders looking down at Jerry, they scurried back a little when the light shined on them but they came right back out.
“Jerry, we have some unwanted visitors in the rafters above your head so do not move quickly. Slowly come back to the office with me and maybe they’ll go after the dead spider first.”
Daniel knew better than to leave his weapon lying around and he also knew to always keep the most useful weapon with him at all times. If he lived through this he would never leave his weapon again even to go to the restroom.
Bug boy was very careful to move slowly, he had been working on the mandibles of the dead spider and knew what kind of damage they would do to human flesh. They were not really poisonous but they had a mild neurotoxin that would probably stop a person from moving while they wrapped you up for a meal later if they weren’t too hungry. If they were hungry the victim was toast, or in this case meat on a stick.
While Jerry was slowly moving to the office Daniel was moving to the cart that had the staff weapons and zats. Daniel was also wondering where the two guards Jack had left with them had gotten off to, he had not seen either of them for several hours.
Jerry had been looking for his dissecting kit, microscopes, and magnifying glass while working on the spider, he had absentmindedly piled the other equipment on top of the weapons which Daniel was not at all happy about. Jack had on many occasions told Daniel that he was not to move things on top of his weapons which Daniel blew off as Jack just being paranoid. Now he was going to tell Jack that he had learned his lesion the hard way. That is if he ever got the chance to say anything to Jack again.
Jerry had quietly closed the door to the office and Daniel was kicking himself for not telling him to get the two 9mm pistols out in case he needed them.
Daniel knew that Jerry was a scientist without the experience of being in the field with Jack for so many years. Daniel was a scientist also but he could hold his own with most of the solders on the base now too. He was trying to move the boxes slowly but he didn’t notice the metal plate set that they used to cook and eat out of in the field. It was sitting on the edge of the cart, when he moved the box it caused the metal cookware to clang loudly across the floor. The spiders were moving at an unbelievable speed, they were on the floor in seconds racing to Daniel’s position ready for their next meal.
Daniel just jerked the staff weapon quickly, he was trying to get it out quietly from under the boxes, there was no need for quiet now. Two of the spiders started fighting each other and were making the most horrible clicking chattering noises but Daniel didn’t have time to pay any attention to them. The biggest of the three was coming strait for him. The cart was between Daniel and it but the spider did a low squatting run, jumping high over the cart where he would have landed on top of Daniel but he had been able to charge the staff weapon and fire as the spider was coming down, its front leg deflected the weapon as it fired which caused it to blow off one of it’s back legs but that was not a killing shot with a large arachnid like this.
Daniel had spent many hours in the gym with Teal’c training with the staff weapons and he surprised himself when he swung the base of the staff up then stepped away while spinning the staff to bring it down hard on the spiders head as it charged him. It was a purely instinctual maneuver learned over years of practice with the Master Jaffa. The spider was shocked enough that it took a step back which gave Daniel room to aim and fire a killing shot. He turned the weapon quickly firing a shot at each of the other two spiders. He wounded one of the spiders but the other one jumped as he shot. Now he was going to have to hunt them down to kill them. He turned to the dead spider and fired another two shots into it just to be sure.

The research facility was much bigger than it looked on the outside. The building went deep underground branching into subsections for different areas of research. Sam was directing the other three scientist as to what she wanted checked out first. They really needed Daniel to translate the files and even the signs above the doors. Unlike it was on Earth they didn’t use pictographs to let you know that this is the lady’s restroom or danger do not enter. Sam warned them to be very cautious when opening doors and closed off areas like drawers, cabinets.
Sam didn’t like calling her son JD it just did not sound right to her, she ask if he would mind if she called him Johnny instead. He smiled at her and told her that her other self always called him Johnny.
Johnny pointed out several things telling her what they did and how they had used them and he also pointed out the things that they never did find out what they did or were. His other mother from the future other dimension wasn’t able to read much of the language so they had to learn by trial and error.
“Okay, Shawn would you please go to my cart and get the laptop so that I can start on a translation program, Daniel can put in the words when he gets here tomorrow.”
“Jack, how is Daniel doing with the translations at the warehouse?”
“I don’t know, I haven’t checked in with him for a while he was getting cranky with me calling him all the time. I guess I need to call again to see if they’re all right.”
“Tell him that I need him here first thing in the morning, with all the translations he as so far. Better yet I’ll take the car and just go get them.”

Daniel went back to the office where he found Jerry had found his pistols and he nearly shot Daniel as he came into the room. Daniel saw the pistol come up and at him but he never realized just how much training he had actually done. The next thing that he knew Jerry was lying on the ground face down with his arm in an arm bar with the pistol pointing at the ceiling away from Daniel. He took the pistol out of Jerry’s hand before he let the arm go.
Jerry got up shaking his arm, Daniel handed him one of the zats but gave him a concerned look. “Jerry if you shot me with that zat for any reason, when I get up I will shot you in the foot with this.” Daniel held the 9mm out.
“Do you understand me?”
“Yes, Sir!”
Daniel knew he had been with Jack way to long then because he was sounding just like him. “Yasureyabetcha.”
“We have two spiders to find and we’re missing two security guards. Do you remember seeing Boris and Doris or whatever the two Russians names were?”
“The last time I saw them they were checking creates on the far corner over there. Then I lost track of time and I haven’t seen them since.”
“Well let’s start there then. Remember there are at least two semi large spiders in here and one of them is wounded so I don’t think it’s in a really good mood.”
Just as Daniel was about to look around one of the larger creates there was a loud knock in the door that he was standing next to. When he jumped back because the noise had scared him he tripped over Jerry who was standing right behind him causing them to both fall to the ground. Just as they fell the spider made its jump which went over the top of them as they went down in a heap.
Jack could here the shouting and scuffling on the other side of the door and knew about where they were, he used his staff weapon on the door at an angle away from the noise.
The door burst open to Jerry holding a staff weapon in the mouth of a large spider that had Daniel pinned to the ground. It was doing it’s best to close its big side moving mandibles that looked like large hooked spikes that were dripping something on Daniel’s chest as it was going for Daniel’s neck. Jerry was slipping and he was not able to move his hands to get to the firing mechanism. Jack put three blasts into the body and neck of the arachnid which left Jerry holding the head on the end of the staff weapon the large jaws were still trying to close on Daniel as Jerry threw the head off to the side.
Jack helped the much shaken Daniel up off the floor. After he had Jerry help him move the spiders body off of him. It was going to take a while for the shakes to stop and a very long time for the nightmares to ease up for him. “Daniel, go into the office and close the door, I’ll secure the outside door.”
“No Jack, the Russian guards you left with us are missing and I need to find them, there are more spiders in here also. That was not one of the spiders I shot at earlier.
“Okay, if you’re sure you’re up to the search.”
“I am, we do not leave our people behind or in danger if we can help it.”
“Sweet, you’re learning your lessons well.”
The door was a mess, there was a ten inch hole where the knob had been earlier; Jack had Daniel move one of the motorcycles against the door to keep anything big from getting in.
Jerry said that the ten inch hole would let in one of the smaller of the medium sized spiders in but they didn’t have anything to block the hole with but the plastic creates and they would be easily pushed out of the way from the outside. It was decided to find the two Russians and leave as quickly as possible. Jack had put the top up on the car and rolled all the windows up. Unlike the cars of Earth when the top came up on this vehicle it was solid. They started the search over by where the Russian’s were last seen, Jack had taken a little bit of time to show Jerry how to use the staff weapon and he fired a couple of rounds into one of the plastic containers. Too their amazement the blast did nothing to the create. It didn’t even leave a scorch mark. Jack put his hand carefully on the inside of the create, no heat at all inside or out.
Daniel, if you see a small one of these creates I want it to go with us, this would be great for the flak jackets.
As Jack rounded the corner he saw one of the spiders that Daniel had shot at and quickly disposed of it. It was standing by a hole in the floor that was the size of a manhole on Earth. It was big enough for the big spiders to get in and out of according to Bug Boy and it was not there when they searched the building before.
They made their way to the opening carefully, there was a large dirt cavern under the floor with a lot of webbing all around. Jack had been told that the webbing would disintegrate with one blast of a zat. He was slightly worried that it might do harm to the Russians if they were alive but in poor health. He really didn’t have a choice though so he fired one shot backing up to where Daniel and Jerry were. The spiders come out fast and it was all that the three of them could do to kill them as quickly as they popped out of the hole. After several minuets of no spiders they shoveled the smoldering caucuses of the dead spiders out of the way. Jack knew that he would have to be the first to look into the hole.
Daniel was still shaking over the spider going for his neck. Jack laid down on the floor while the other two covered him, he used a flashlight and a zat to check the room. He didn’t see any spiders but he did see the two Russians. They still had some webbing on them in the corner of the dirt room. He took a staff weapon and jumped into the room causing his knees to ache but he had a job to do and there was no other way. A couple of the smaller spiders were in the room which he dispatched with all due heist. It seemed odd that a fourteen inch spider now was the small one when back home of a spider was more that an inch across it was a big honking spider.
The two Russians were dead from a combination of the neurotoxin and being bit several times on the neck and extremities. Jack had seen his share of scary movies where the victim was put into a room and all the baby monsters, bugs, spiders ect came crawling out of the body later to attack the helpless people in the room with it.
He knew he wouldn’t be able to bring the bodies home to their families like he wanted to at this time but he would do the next best thing. He picked up one of the men and handed the body up to Daniel and Jerry, he told then to find a clean create and to seal the bodies in individual creates
He went back and got the other body back to the waiting pair. Jack had to have help getting out of the hole, his knees were just not up to letting him jump high enough to catch the side of the hole. Daniel found a rope in one of the carts and together with Jerry they pulled him out.
It was now fully dark outside, no moon out tonight. Jack had thought about throwing some flairs outside to light the way but Jerry said that light attracted insects therefore it would attract the spiders to feed on the insects. If the spiders were this big he didn’t want to see what the regular insects looked like. He was having visions of a mosquito with an eight foot wing span. Jack gathered the dog tags off the dead Russians and marked the creates with their names.
It looked like Jack couldn’t remember anybodies name but in reality the people that really knew him could tell you that he knew everybody’s first and last name, rank and members of their families along with their likes and dislikes. If a commanding officer did not know his people he couldn’t use them to the best of their abilities.
They gathered the things that they would need along with Daniel’s notebooks and laptop with all his translations. It was a mad dash to the car dumping the supplies in the back seat while they all piled in the front and shut the door as fast a possible. Jack asked about the Marine that he had sent earlier and they told him that they hadn’t seen anything of the man.

Sam had started mapping the complex, she had a magic marker and a notebook, she started with the top floor marking all the doors on one side even and the other side as odd. Corridors that branched off were marked as the floor number with a, b, c, d so on the basement floor first floor at the corridor it was marked b1 a room 1001, 1002 was on the other side of that hall. Then she gave a brief description of what she thought was in the room. Security, power stations, lab’s and what she thought was being worked on in those labs.
Shawn had learned her mapping method quickly and taught the rest of the teams what to do. Everybody paired up to do the search to see what was in the rooms and to subdivide the larger work rooms and labs to map each section. On the main floor they found the cafeteria with a food replicatior that could make anything they wanted or could think of. Johnny was able to show them how it worked. It would actually read what you had in mind and make it. All they needed to do was to put their hand on the scanner and say what they wanted. They surmised that this was to keep the replicatior from making everything that the person was thinking of at the same time.
Sam was having some really grand cravings at the moment so all but Shawn and Johnny went out to do some more mapping. Jack, Daniel and Jerry all came in while she was destroying a Chocolate Fudge Browne sundae with whipped cream and a cherry on top. Daniel was still shaken up but that looked so good he ask how she was able to make it.
Johnny helped them all make what they wanted. Jack had noticed that there was no trash or dust anywhere not even on the cars. He ask JD what was causing this but Sam told him about the name change so that he didn’t have people calling him different names all the time. Johnny didn’t know what was doing the clean up so it was as big a problem as trying to figure out what was providing the power to all the buildings.

Daniel rested most of the evening but he was not going to sleep again, all he could see when he closed his eyes was that giant spider doing all that it could to get to his neck and it was making progress at doing just that when Jack had shot it. Daniel could still smell the odor of the spider, it smelled like rancid meat and old blood was caked on its head from its last kill which was probably the two Russians now that he had a chance to think about it. He finally just got out of bed, he went into the dinning area and had a cup of coffee, a blend he hadn’t had in a long time came to mind when he was ordering it and he really liked this machine. He was not about to try to eat anything after the dreams he had been having. Daniel had seen the marks on the Russians necks and he knew that he had been very close to the same fate.
Jack had told him at one time that if it was his time to die then nothing in the world would stop that. He had found out how true that was when he died from radiation poisoning to ascend with Oma Desala. The thought of Oma brought peace to his thoughts. She had taught him that death should not be feared and even though he didn’t remember much about the time he had been ascended he did remember that Oma was watching his back for him.
Daniel went to the security room where Sam had turned off the defense system earlier to work on some things there, the first thing that he did was to remove the password from the elevator and change the number system to English. He knew that the stairs were killing Jack’s knees. Next he went out to find Sam’s laptop in the area that she had been working. He knew that she had the translation program working so all he had to do was put in the words and point them to their English counterparts. He had quite a few words already and he could add more later as he learned what they were. Jack said he would help by finding a library where he could get some children’s books, so that he could find the simple words easily.
Daniel started going into some of the labs with a magic marker and translating the signs so that the technicians didn’t go where they shouldn’t. There were a lot of signs that warned of strong magnetism, Strong gravity fields and low gravity fields when the light was on, or in some cases there was a warning beep as well as the light.

Jack went back to the Stargate taking the two SG members from the Chinese group back and gathering more security teams and research people to help with the scale of this operation getting bigger all the time. There were people coming from all over the world and some of the other worlds as well. The Tok’ra had sent several people with the understanding that whatever was found it would be shared and that Sam was in charge of the entire project selecting her advisors and directors wither they were Tok’ra or any other being it was her choice.
Jack had taken Shawn and Johnny into the city to find them a car so they could help drive people and supplies back and forth to the gate. While they were out looking for vehicles for the boys they spotted one for Sam. It was a sleek red model almost like Jack’s but more streamlined and it has a lot more silver trim. Jack thought it looked something like her Corvette on Earth and was considering having someone come through and paint some flames on it for a surprise. He finally decided that it would be too much to ask of one of the motor pool so he dropped the idea. He had to show the boy’s how to drive the cars first then when they were okay with that he had them take Sam’s car back then come and get the other car.
Daniel would probably want one too but they had a while to go before they could do more car hunting. When he got back to the complex someone had painted a sign and hung it on the fence, reserved for General O’Neill. He just didn’t have any proof that it was Daniel.
The Asgard arrived with a group of six of their top scientist; they were all hopping about like first graders at recess. They were so excited that they were talking in Asgard which few people could understand. Jack knew what they were babbling about because Logie had taught him Asgard while they were stranded on a planet for several months a few years back. Daniel didn’t know this and Jack was not going to tell him anything about it until he had no other choice. Daniel already suspected that Jack knew a lot more than he let on about. Jack had taught Sam German while they were on the planet with the Ashrack Kalyet which she took to very easily, but that was only to be expected from a person with her intelligence.
The Asgard were not able to read the language any better than they were so everybody was waiting on Daniel to translate more words and get them in the program so that it would translate data quickly. Jack had spotted something that looked like a grade school with play ground equipment in the yard. He was surprised to fine another nest of spiders. For a place that was automatically cleaned like this world was, why were the spiders left to destroy property. He just went in far enough to grab a couple of books from a few rooms but ended up killing four of the spiders that didn’t like him invading their property. They didn’t like the daylight though so it wasn’t too hard to get away from them. Bug Boy said it had something to do with the multiple lenses of their eyes. Jack knew that they didn’t have eye lids and that the sun would be in one of their lenses most of the time they were outside so he let it pass as usual.
Daniel’s eyes let up as soon as he saw the books, the neat thing about children’s books was they were simple and had pictures to associated with the words. Jack brought several grades worth so the words got bigger with the advanced grades. The Asgard added some programming making a few changes that would help with the translations. They also made a connector that would interface her computer to the others on this planet.
One of the trips to the Stargate brought Amy and Julie to help, for some reason that trip took Shawn a little longer than it usually did, Johnny had made the trip with him and all four of them seemed to be in a very good mood when they arrived. Amy and Julie both had a red face when they got there so Jack took the boy’s to the side and told them to make sure they shaved closely so that it didn’t give the girls whisker burns next time. He then loaned them some of his aftershave and cologne with a smile. Don’t let your mother catch you boys or you’ll have hell to pay. She still thinks of you as her babies.
Sam had several more laptops brought in and transferred the program to all of them. The work was going at an astounding pace with new discoveries being made every half hour or so. The Asgard were all over the place checking on what had been found and making some adjustments. Sam had told them about the gravity drive, with the artificial gravity that was so fast at compensating it was like you were standing still while the planet shrank away. The shield had to be improved also which they were right on it. Johnny described the gravity bomb and gravity wave to them. The Tok’ra were in on this one with several designs that would work off of the ship they were near or if the ship had a shield on like the Hubb’vee used it would feed off of that energy making it work even quicker, it was ironic that the thing that was designed to protect the ship was going to help destroy it. Johnny said it would take a Mothership of the Hubb’vee which carried millions of beings and condense it to the size of an Earth basketball. The other beamed gravity waves could pull or push objects without affecting the ship it was deployed from unless the pilot wanted to be pushed or pulled with it.
Amy and Julie had been shown how the food replicatior worked so they were showing Shawn and Johnny some of their favorite Earth foods when Sam walked in with Jack. She eyed the two women with her boys for a moment letting them know she was watching them. Jack realized that this is what the boys that wanted to date Cassandra Frasier must have felt like when he had seen them. Sam wanted to protect her children and these girls were trying to take them away from her. It didn’t matter that they were grown men now she would only think of their protection. Momma bear was ready to growl. Jack quickly sent Amy and Julie on an errand of most importance that could not wait. He told Shawn and Johnny that he had something for them to do also and while Sam wasn’t looking he winked at them giving them understanding as to what he was doing.
Jack took the boys with him to find some sort of film footage like a video to help Daniel to speak the language better and get more words. They needed a video store.
For close quarters like they were in with the spiders where it was hard to swing a staff weapon, Jack had requested the short staff weapons like the So’dan used. He has some made up with a pop out bayonet on the other end in case the fighting got too close.
It didn’t take too long to find what they were looking for and made their selections. A beeper went off as they left the store. “Damn it, I don’t have another late fee do I.” The boys had no idea what he was talking about.

Amy and Julie had found Daniel in one of the dorm rooms in the complex to ask what he needed to have delivered to the Asgard. Daniel had no idea what they were talking about so they told him that Jack and Sam had come into the dinning room and the General said that he had a package that needed to be delivered to the Asgard. “We are to deliver that package as a team without delay.”
Jack had told him of the problem at the lake with Amy and Shawn when Sam saw the marks on Shawn’s neck. “Was Shawn and Johnny with you when Jack came in?” Amy and Julie both smiled at the question giving him the answer without saying anything.
“Okay, Jack sent you here to keep you from being ripped to pieces and thrown out the door. Sam is pregnant with those two young men you have your eyes on, she’s very hormonal right now and you are trying to take her children away from her.”
Both of the women looked surprised at his statement. “But they’re grown men, and really good looking grown men at that.”
“I understand and so does Jack, he told me that he has been telling the boys how to treat you lady’s and about the special things that a man should do for a woman.”
“Remember lady’s, these men have never been around another human woman before so this is entirely new to them, so try to forgive any mistakes they might make in the future.”
Daniel dug around in the desk and took some paper with notes on them telling the girls to take this to the Asgard on level twelve room C1255 without delay and to lay low for a while. He told them that he would have the boys look them up in their rooms later so that they could explain the situation to them if Jack hadn’t already done so.

Jeremy Shultz was perplexed he had people looking all over for the O’Neill family and they were nowhere to be found, it looked like they had dropped off the face of the Earth. There had only been one sighting of any of them for the last week and a half. The children were finally spotted with their uncle John O’Neill and Cassandra Frasier yesterday taking the children out to lunch with two Security Force officers along for the ride and it looked like the young Air Force Academy Cadet was well armed himself.
To quote the person that was following them. “That wasn’t a normal pistol it looked like it would wipe a car out of existence with one shot.”
He would know because he made the mistake of getting too close to the group. As he turned a corner while following the kids he ran into the Cadet with the big pistol aimed right at his forehead only six feet away. The man told him this from his hospital room after he got out of surgery. He would never be able to bend his knee again.
It was strange that a person as young as the Cadet could invoke so much fear in a cold blooded killer like the man that was now lying dead in the hospital bed was somewhat unnerving to Jeremy. The man told him that the kid had the look of someone that was used to death and killing, his deep brown eyes told a story that needed no words. If the man had known anything he would have given it all away to the kid. Jeremy didn’t have the luxury of having even the smallest bit of information leaking out about what he was doing or who he was working for. He had not met the man in the bed in person until a few minuets ago but he had no more tales to tell unless he was telling it to the devil himself.
The kids and their escort had lunch like nothing had happened then disappeared again. There was another person tailing the kids but he was far away doing his job like he was supposed to do. He told Jeremy what the Cadet had done to the big man. Again the kid was too young to be able to do the things his witness said he had done but he had the training that was needed. After the kid had gotten all the information out of the man he looked strait at his observer then nodded his head at him turned around and left the seen.

When John O’Neill and Cassy got back to the SGC he went strait to Colonel Ferris to inform him that there were people still after the children. Jack had wanted to know if someone was still looking for his family and the only way to find out was to take his children out in the open for a short while. He not only had John and Cassy along with his two best SF’s, there were people all around, unseen and unknown until they were needed. One of those people was Kalyet brought in at the SGC for this mission. Kalyet was an Ashrack that Jack had turned several years back. Kalyet now ran Ba’al’s old domain after he helped to train Jack in the ways of the Ashrack and Jack had reciprocated with teaching him the techniques of the Special Forces and all the neat little tricks that that were learned from the Vet Cong, Russian Special Forces, Israelis …
Kalyet followed the observer and noticed as he went by where he was watching from that the man was not able to hold his lunch while doing his job. Kalyet was thinking that this was a real amateur. Kalyet followed the man to the phone where he gave his report. Then hung up the phone just as Kalyet hit him with his extended first two fingers of his right hand on the top vertebra where it connects to the skull displacing it and severing the brain stem. The movement was so fast that the people that were standing next to him, but not paying attention to their surroundings, never saw what happened, all they knew was that the man hung up the phone and fell dead on the ground. The next man in line for the phone stepped over the body and made his phone call then left.
Kalyet went back to where John had extracted the information from the first man to find out where he was going to be taken. It was always fun for him to just be close by and have all the information he needed just given to him from the people around him who did not know he was even there. All Kalyet needed to do was what everybody else was doing and that was watching as they picked the man up. His right leg bent in a direction that it was not supposed to bend causing the people to murmur louder and speculate on what happened. Most people said it was a hit and run driver even though a car couldn’t fit down that small ally, what else could it have been.
The ambulance drivers told the reporters which hospital the man would be taken to so that he could have his picture in the paper. Kalyet entered the ambulance wrapping himself in a white sheet in the corner next to an oxygen tank in a position that looked like any other nondescript piece of equipment. To the casual observer he was not there even though he was in plain sight under a sheet.
When the driver stopped the vehicle they removed their charge taking him inside at a leisurely pace. With no reporters around to take pictures they could do as they pleased, the guy they were taking in was unconscious so he wouldn’t be complaining about the lack of speed.
Kalyet got out of the ambulance and was walking into the hospital when a security guard stopped him asking him what he was doing in a restricted area. Kalyet smiled at the man and did as he saw the other people doing. “I’m a freelance photographer.” The guard never did notice that he didn’t have a camera he just waved him on.
It wasn’t hard to track the injured man to the emergence room, from there he went to surgery and recovery. This all took several hours so Kalyet watched the humans do their jobs and talk about what happened last night or their gulf game that week end, mostly they talked about the other people around them. Kalyet finally got tired of listening to people who talked about things that really didn’t matter, it sounded to him like they were just talking to hear themselves make noise. In reality he knew that the people were talking so that they didn’t have to think about their own life. Kalyet found a quiet place to settle back and meditate. He went into the room that the nurse had assigned to the man with the extremely bad broken leg was to be placed after he got out of recovery. He sat quietly in the chair to wait for his next move.
His meditation was broken when he heard someone enter the room, the man was placed in the bed and made comfortable then they left him to sleep. An hour later Jeremy Shultz came into the room to do what he had been required to do. The information was extracted then he killed the man in a very sloppy way for Kalyet’s standards. Jeremy used a pillow to suffocate the man after he shut off the heart monitor so that it wouldn’t give him away.
It was a matter of following Jeremy to the next level. When Jeremy got out of the hospital he used his cell phone to call in. “It’s done; all the loose ends are secured. What do you want us to do now?”
When Jeremy got off the phone he received a strange jolting feeling in his back, everything went dim but he was walking somewhere with someone, he had no idea who this person was but they were going into a basement. It was dark except for one streak of sunlight coming through a broken window. He was laid on the cold mossy dirty floor face down looking at his own hand that was in the beam of light. Kalyet covered Jeremy’s mouth with his hand while he had his knee on the wrist of the person he was interrogating. Kalyet wanted Jeremy to know that he meant business he made sure that Jeremy was looking at his hand then he made a slapping motion with his right hand bringing the tip of his middle finger down with tremendous speed and accuracy onto Jeremy’s first finger tip. Being that Jeremy’s finger was against the dirty concrete it could not go anywhere, it was trapped between Kalyet’s very hard and fast moving finger and a very hard floor causing it to splatter. Jeremy bucked and heaved but couldn’t get out from under the small man, no mater how hard he tried. The hand that covered his mouth didn’t move, it felt like a vice was clamped over his lower jaw.
Kalyet forced Jeremy to look into his eye. “That’s what I will do to you every time I do not get a satisfactory answer, do you understand?”
Jeremy was able to nod his understanding. “Who sent you on this mission and what do they want with the O’Neill children?”
Jeremy was able to speak suddenly. “They’ll kill me if I tell you anything!”
He saw a smile cross Kalyet’s features. The finger came down again taking the first knuckle of the first finger this time, just above where the tip of the finger was ruined. With the pain of the first break being compounded by a second break on the same finger Jeremy did something he didn’t think was possible, his bladder and bowls both emptied at the same time. He knew that he should be unconscious from the pain but the man that was holding him down was keeping that from happening somehow. Jeremy didn’t know that Kalyet was manipulating nerves on the back of his neck blocking a small portion of the pain. The pain was still there and Jeremy’s body convulsed with the shock but he was not released into the comfort of unconsciousness, Jeremy was made to suffer.
“No, they will not get the chance to kill you, I’m going to do that, your only choice is whether I do it quickly and almost painlessly or do we continue with the fingers and hand, if that isn’t enough I’ll just use the other hand then start on the toes and feet. I can keep this up for a very long time until I get all the information I need.”
Jeremy started talking. He gave everything he knew or had ever heard about the people he worked for, their location, their telephone numbers and address’s, nothing was left out so that this person would have a chance to do anything else except end his suffering.
Kalyet finished him as he promised quickly and without pain. He used Jeremy’s cell phone to call the SGC letting Colonel Ferris know that he was ready to use his personal body guards now and to please bring them to the hospital so that they could begin the hunt.

John O’Neill, Cassandra Frasier, Janet and Angela O’Neill emerged from the Stargate with a lot of smiles. This was the first time the children had gone through the Wormhole but they knew that Mom and Dad did it all the time. With Uncle John and Cassy with them it was just a fun ride. There Daddy was there to pick them up in a red car that didn’t have a top and no wheels.
John and Cassy were impressed with a convertible hovercraft that ran on antigravity. Of course John lifted the hood to see what the motor looked like. Jack had done the same thing then Sam went through it with a fine toothed comb to see what made it tick, it was just one of the many things that would be studied in detail later. Sam was there also then Johnny, Shawn, Amy and Julie came out to see the girls, both boy’s in their own cars.
John went with Johnny and Julie while Cassy went with Shawn and Amy. That way each of them could drive one of the new cars. Jack and Sam buckled the girls in the back seat which had a buster seat built in for the smaller children so they could look out the window.
Jack had told John and Cassy about the spiders and possibly other dangers on this planet. They were both carrying zats along with the standard 9mm for Cassy and a 45 caliber pistol that John liked to carry, it had a lot more stopping power than the 9mm . They also carried the short staff weapon of the So’dan warriors with the modification. John had been admiring the weapon and practicing with the shorter staff weapon and the blade that came out of the end. Jack had run the boy's through a lot of training with the weapons himself, but Teal'c didn’t care for the weapon himself. He had trained for the last seventy five years with the long staff and was not happy with the shorter staff weapon, it just didn't feel right. He did train the others with the weapon though and he understood the need for the shorter weapon.
They all left at the same time but John and Cassy wanted to see more of the area and went off on their own. Jack told them to keep in contact with the radio and to be back well before dark. He didn't like them going out on their own but he was thinking that he was just being overprotective again and finally decided that he would let them do a little exploring. They split with Cassy going left while John went right as Jack took Sam and the children to the complex.

Cassy, Shawn and Amy were checking out the buildings as they went down road. They were getting into an area that was not as well taken care of as the complex area. The building just didn't seem the same, the colors were dull and some spots the buildings were damaged. Then they started seeing things that Shawn hadn’t seen on this planet before, there was dirt on the roads and branches from the few trees that could exist on the concentrate world. Shawn told Cassy that they needed to turn around and leave the area, he was getting a bad feeling about this. Cassy had been around his Dad long enough to know that if one of the O'Neill's had a bad feeling about something it was time to leave. She was about to turn around when the car fell to the ground with a thud, skidding for several feet before it hit a building. Everyone had been wearing their seatbelt's but it was still a shock to loose control like it is in every accident.
Shawn picked up the radio that had fallen to the floorboard in the accident to call for assistance. It was starting to get to be late evening and would be dark in about two hours. That would have been plenty of time to get back to the base if they had the car but it was of no use to them now that it was sitting on the ground and wouldn’t power up at all. When he keyed the mic on the radio to call for help it was as dead as the car. He was a little perplexed by this for a moment. He got the staff weapon out and charged it to fire, it did nothing. The Zat's were as dead as everything else, they were in trouble now. Nobody knew where they were and they were on foot with only a couple of pistols for protection. It was time to make tracks and if nothing else they would need to find a place to hold up for the night.
He had been listening to everything that his Dad had been saying about the spiders and how they didn't like the daylight or bright lights but they would come out in the light if they were hungry. If they ran into a group or even one of the big or medium spiders with only the pistols they were dead. They estimated that they had gone into the slum area about five miles before the car died. Shawn had Amy and Cassy push the button that caused the eight inch blade to pop out of the end of the staff and to keep their pistols ready in the holster. They were going to make as much distance toward the complex as they could before it started getting dark then they would find a place to spend the night.

Jack was starting to get worried when Johnny and John showed up an hour later but he hadn't seen or heard anything from Shawn and his group. He would have had the Asgard look for them but they had been dropped off to the planet and the ship went back to have the new shields and weapons installed. With all of the new developments coming from the allies it was a constant thing to have a ship brought back in to make the modifications so all of the ships for the Asgard, free Jaffa and Tok'ra were staying close to base. The Tok'ra had come through the Stargate so he was going to have to do this the old fashioned way and just go out looking for them and hope for the best. All he had was a general direction that they had gone in.
He told the others that Shawn was not back yet and he was going to need to go out and find them. Johnny wanted to go also but he was told that he needed to stay at the base. He was the only one that had any real intelligence pertaining to the Hubb'vee if something had happened to Shawn. That information was not replaceable even more than the loss of possibly another son and Cassy who he thought of as a daughter as much as he did his own girls. He was close to her before but when Janet had died she had come to him and Sam and until she went into the Air Force Academy she had lived with them. He needed to go find his kids. He told Johnny to stay with his Mom and to do his best to not let her worry about things, he would hopefully be back with them in no time.
Jack couldn't risk taking Johnny with him but John was another story all together and he was insisting on going if not by himself then as a lookout. They gathered their weapons along with some food and water just to be on the safe side. John had a backpack with some items in it that he threw into the back seat when he got in. Teal'c was there also with his staff weapon and gear, he wasn't about to be left behind when the base was secure and one more pair of eyes could mean all the difference in finding them or not. Teal'c wouldn't say it but he was just as worried as Jack was about the kids. He had been there when they had found Cassy and had helped to raise her along with everybody else on SG1 and the base in general. He had also grown to like Shawn and knew that if something had happened to Rya'c he would not have had to ask Jack or any of his team mates to help they would be there for him without question.

Jack thought about going high to find the kids but if they were on foot then he knew he wouldn’t be able to see them easily. John told him where they had parted ways and they took that road in a strait line to try and find them.
Shawn was thinking that it was about time to try and find a place to hold up for the night, the entomologist said that the spiders sometimes come out a dusk to hunt if they’re hungry. The big problem with this plan was that they needed to go into the buildings to find shelter and that’s where the spiders would be. They would be in a really tight spot if they ran into one of the big spiders, or several of the smaller ones.
They had flashlights in the car but they were as useless as the rest of the powered equipment. Cassy noticed that her watch had even stopped working. Shawn went over to one of the store fronts that were in the area. He tapped on the glass a couple of times to see how thick it was. It was strong enough he thought to keep the spiders out and looked through the windows to see if there were any of the spiders or webs visible. The door was open and they went in and locked the door behind them. Cassy and Amy were glad that it had the kind of lock that could be just turned and not require a key from the inside. They started to look around and this was a grocery store or it had been at one time. It smelled terrible from all the rot and mold that was on everything. Shawn told them at all the stores that they had gone into in the powered areas had been completely clean.
They didn’t have any food or water with them and started looking around the store to see if there was anything that was still good. There wasn’t much left that they could use. Most had been destroyed by this planets version of the mouse and rats but a few of the glass jars were still sealed. Shawn opened one and tried a sip which was not too bad. He took a larger drink before handing it over to the girls. When Amy and Cassy got the jar they could tell that it was some kind of fruit juice that had fermented and was actually pretty good. Shawn went back up to the front window to see what was going on outside. There were several of the spiders that seemed to be following a trail that was leading them right to the store they were in.
Shawn went to the door and checked it again then went all around the store looking at the entrances making sure that they were secured and that there were no holes that the spiders or anything else might be coming through.
The store did have some scented candles that were not too tasty to the animals that had tried to eat everything else in the store. Amy had her lighter that all SGC personal carried with them and she lit several of them to light the area as it was getting dark. Amy and Cassy didn’t know how strong the juice was that they were drinking but they were pretty well drunk by the time Shawn got back to them. They didn’t mean to get drunk but they were. Shawn found a fairly clean area for them to lie down in and moves some of the candles over there while he kept watch.

It was starting to get dark and Jack had turned on the lights while looking for any sign of the kids. He had moved over one block and was still going in the same direction. He had called in several times and found out that they had not come back into the complex yet. The last time that he tried to radio in though it was dead, he looked at the lights on the car and saw that the indicator that told them how much battery was left on the car was dropping fast. In fact it was dropping way too fast and he knew that it would not get them back out of the area. He was turning around when he spotted something that he was glad to see. The car settled to the ground and they all got out. They all got out and took there backpacks then headed to the building that they had spotted. Teal’c tried his staff weapon like everybody else had done only to find that it was useless. They pulled out their standard weapons and they were glad that they didn’t have to use them. The noise would attract a lot of attention that they didn’t want to have right now.
The store was open like all the rest had been, it was like the people had all just disappeared during the day while the stores were open. The first thing that Jack noticed was that the store didn’t smell like the others that he had been into. There was a moldy smell and dust was everywhere. A few items were lying on the floor like someone had dropped them just like it had been in all the other stores he had been in. Jack couldn’t believe their luck to find a gun shop where they had run out of power. He was thinking that if this was what happened to the kids then they should be fairly close by.
They started looking around and found some things that they wanted to use, they had some very nice shotguns and they were still in good shape but they were in a glass case. Jack took out his knife and used the butt end of it to try and break the glass. It bounced off three times before he gave up on that tactic. He took out his lock picks and tried that one and it was also a failure. John pulled the 45 out and told them to watch themselves as he shot the case and an angle which just ended up with a bullet in the wall on the other side of the store. Teal’c had been watching all of this and found it interesting that they were not able to break into the case to get to the weapons that they wanted. Jack and John were standing back wondering what to try next while Teal’c went over to the wall behind the counter and took the key off the pegboard and handed it to the General. “I feel that it would be in our best interest to use the key for the case, it does not appear to be opening any other way although your methods were interesting.”
Jack was mumbling something about smart ass Jaffa as the case was opening. They took out several weapons and checked them all out. They had some very powerful weapons in the case and all the ammo that they could want. It might not work as well as the staff weapon but it would do until they could get the weapons charged again. Right now they had to decide if they wanted to go out looking for the kids or stay were they were till morning. Teal’c finally convinced the two O’Neill’s that it would be best to wait until morning but it wasn’t easy.

Sam and Daniel were both upset and Johnny was beside himself with worry now. He had just found his family again and now he had his father and brother lost out in the city with a bunch really big spiders and no telling what else. They had not been in contact by radio for several hours now and Sam had to lock the doors to keep Daniel from taking one of the motorcycles out with a trailer to find his missing friends. She knew that Johnny would be right behind him and this was the only way she had to stop them. She needed Johnny there and it was too dangerous to let Daniel go out by himself at night. In the morning she would let him go with a couple of the Marines as backup and that way they would be able to get all of them home and safe. She knew her husband well enough to know that he would be holed up safe someplace tonight and hopefully he had Shawn and the girls with him. She also knew that Shawn was as smart as they come about surviving and he would work as hard as Jack would to take care of all the people around him.
She told Daniel that when she was having trouble with things like this she would do something like imagine Teal’c snarling at one of the big spiders then tearing the legs off and kicking it into the nest for the others to see what they were up against. That brought a smile to Daniel’s face as he had the mental picture of the spiders scurrying off to get away from the big Jaffa. Daniel was able to relax a little after that but he still was not going to sleep while thinking about his friends out there in trouble and what the spiders looked like as it was above him.

Shawn was a little lightheaded from just the few sips he had of the juice but the girls were out of it. They had split the bottle between them as he was looking around the room and securing it then opened another one. He didn’t think that they knew that it was fermented. It was rather good when he had tried it and wanted more but he had other thing to do first and he was now glad that he did get up when he did or they would all three would be passed out and nobody would be able to keep watch. His mother had found some drinking alcohol one time a couple of years ago and remembered her toasting the memory of Jack O’Neill and the loss of all but one of her family. She had cried herself to sleep that night as she did on many as she had nothing to think about but what she had and what she had lost.
That was what made him work so hard to find a way to come back and make the changes that were needed so that his mother would not have to cry herself to sleep each night. When she died he had nothing to loose, if he was successful he could make the difference and change the future and if not then his life was over anyway. There were too many to fight in his time and he didn’t have the help he needed to do more then harass them. But now he had made it back to the time before they had arrived and he was making a difference. Now the Asgard, the free Jaffa and Tok’ra had a fighting chance along with the people of Earth. The chances were more than doubled with the arrival of JD and the new weapons that he had brought into the picture. For now he had to work on getting Amy and Cassy back to the complex. He got up and made his rounds again and started looking for things that he could use for weapons.
While he was looking around he came across some things in the back of the store that the vermin had not messed with. There were several shelves of chemicals and they were all intact. His mother had taught him chemistry and along with all the other things that she had imparted onto him. He was smart and she knew that it was just as much his father that was showing through as it was her and she told him that on several occasions. He and Johnny had both learned quickly and she had made it a game with them to see who could come up with the answer first until he died. The one thing that she said his father had taught her was how to make explosives out of household chemicals. When they got to where she could get some of the chemicals she had shown him so now it was not theory anymore it was something that he had done on many occasions to see how fast he could get it done. That was training that came in handy several times as the Hubb’vee we hot on his trail planet side and he left a surprise for them that always made him smile to think about. He sent a silent thank you to his Mother of the future that had done so well with him in such hard times. For now though he had to work on keeping his present day Mom and family alive so they would not need to go through all of that.
He gathered up the things that he needed and went to work making things that would help them get back to the others. He was thinking that it would take a couple of days to walk out of the area and get back to the complex.

Sam didn’t have any sleeping pills that she could take and she wouldn’t take them anyway because of the children she was carrying but she did wish that she had some for Daniel. She knew that it would be impossible for him to sleep tonight but she did have something that would work just as well. She trusted Daniel with her live and with her children as much as she did Jack and Teal’c, they were all family and she knew how much Daniel loved the kids as if they were his own. To help him she used one of her secret weapons. She had Angela go in and ask Uncle Daniel for a bed time story. The little four year old blond haired child with those big brown eyes crawled up onto her Uncle Daniel’s bed and he was melted as he always was by her. He couldn’t refuse her anything just like her Daddy couldn’t. Sam checked in on them now and them and it didn’t take long for both of them to fall sound asleep. She left Angel there with him knowing that she would be safe. She took Jan with her and held her till she went to sleep also. That made her think of how they communicated while Jack and Logie were on Lefue and she went to sleep while she was looking for Jack in the dream world.
The silver lake was easy to find and she was looking around for Jack and maybe she would run into Janet Frasier. It had been a long time since she and seen her at the lake. Janet was there though and she had Kayla with her. They looked about the same as the last time she had seen her even Kayla was about the same age. Sam had brought Jan with her though and she didn’t even know that she could do that. She knew that Jack could do it because that was where she had first seen Jan and he had asked her if she thought it would be alright to name the child after her friend.
Jan was a little frightened but she was with her Mom and hung on tight to her. Sam brought her forward and introduced her to Janet. Of course Janet knew all about her and it was interesting to see the two Janet’s together. Kayla and Jan could have been sisters. They talked for a while and Janet congratulated her on the twins and the other two that were on the way. Janet told her that they were healthy and strong then she said goodbye so Sam could continue to look for Jack. They couldn’t find him but Jan asked if she thought that Angel could. Sam knew that Angel was asleep and she concentrated on her to bring her into the area with them. She popped into the area and ran over to her Mom and sister. Sam kneeled down to her so that she could look her in the eye. “Angel Sweetheart, I want you to do something for me. I want you to concentrate and think about bringing your Daddy her to be with us, can you do that for me, Please.”
Angel smiled and shook her head letting her know that she would try. She closed her eyes and swung from side to side as she was concentrating on her Daddy. Jack suddenly appeared at the lake shore with them and looked a little confused. He was the one to bring people into the dream world and this was the first time he had ever been brought into it without thinking about it. He was happy to see his family or most of it anyway. He told her what was happening and that it would not do any good to send the motorcycles into the area they would die as easily as the cars did as soon as the batteries were sucked dry and the generators couldn’t produce enough power to fire the pistons it would die also. He told them that what the could do was to bring in a couple of the motorcycles and watch to see when the field started pulling power then they could back out and wait there with the staff weapons. They would have to walk out to that point but it would be better than having to walk all the way back to the complex. Jack tried to pull Shawn into the lake with them but he was not asleep and when he tried Amy and Cassy they were so out of it that they would not be able to understand what was happening to relay the message back to Shawn.
Jack told them that it would be alright and he would find Shawn and the girls to get them home safely. They now knew that the others were alright but they couldn’t figure out why Amy and Cassy were acting so drunk. Jack sent them back where he saw that they were resting comfortably on the floor in a building but he couldn’t see much of the building. When he came back to the lake area he said his goodbyes to Sam and the girls and sent them back to sleep in their beds then he went back to his body.

Sam was up early the next morning and feeling fine. She went in to get Angel and found her telling Daniel about what she had done with her Mom, Dad and Jan by the silver lake with black all around. Daniel remembered the lake and what had happened there. When Jack had pulled him into the area it was because he was really mad at him for accusing Sam of jumping into bed with someone after they had been told that Jack was dead and Jack had punched him in the eye to let him know that it wasn’t a dream and it worked very well as a reminder. He apologized to Sam when he was told that it was Jack that had put the marks on her neck not some stranger she jumped into bed with. Daniel was smiling at the thoughts and then it struck him that Angel said that she had pulled her Daddy into to lake area. That meant that she was also a Night Slayer. He had asked Jack why he didn’t use that ability while he was on the planet with Kalyet and he said that he had forgotten about using it and he had Sam with him so it was just something that he hadn’t thought of. They still had no way of telling them were they were but at least they could have told them that they were okay for the time being. If Jack had thought about it he could have pulled Kalyet into the dream world and killed him there so it was a good thing that he didn’t remember it or they would not have had all the things that Kalyet had shown Jack and Sam how to do. Jack and taught John and now he was teaching Johnny and Shawn the tricks of the Ashrack. The O’Neill family was one group that you didn’t want on your bad side that was for sure.
Sam gave Daniel the instructions that she and Jack had worked out. She gave Daniel an ohm meter that had the leads taped together as soon as he saw the needle drop he was to stop then back up a ways and wait for Jack and the others to come out to them. They would take plenty of food and water with them as well as weapons both staff weapons and their normal weapons just incase the Staff weapons lost power if they were too close to the zone.

Shawn woke the women in the morning and they were not in a good mood, the juice had given them a bad hangover and both of them had a really strange dream about Jack and Sam near a lake with the kids and it was black all around it. It was full daylight when they left the safety of the store and started walking toward the complex again. Shawn had his new toys that he had made the night before in a bag that was still strong enough to carry the weight of the items.
Jack had everybody out of the gun shop at first light, he knew that the spiders were still hunting but that was fine with him he was in a mood to blow a few of the big bugs into small pieces. They would shout out now and then to get the attention of any of the group that was within hearing distance. They would also fire a round off into the air every ten minuets or so to let the others know that they were there and it covered a lot more distance than shouting.
Every time they fired a round into the air they got one or two of the large spiders to attack. With the shotguns and the buckshot that was in the shop it didn’t take more than one shot most of the time to drop them in their tracks. It seams that when you shoot one of the spiders in the head they travel in a strait line until they drop. The main trick to this was don’t miss the head or it really caused some exciting times as the spiders don’t stop if you wound them. One of the medium size spiders got very close to John before it was kicked across the street and shot by Teal’c. Even at that it left a mark across his boot where it tried to bite him as he kicked it. John had stuck it with the bayonet but he missed the head. The smaller ones were harder to hit and they were quick but it was easer to stop them with one shot to the body rather than having to shoot for the head of the larger ones. Jack had a rather large bruise on his right leg were one of the larger spiders slammed into him with one of its rather large legs as it was running by minus its head. He was limping and grumbling about the things they had to do while out on missions but all of them knew that he was really glad to be out in the field again and he loved every minuet of this.
All of Shawn’s group heard the shots at the same time and started jumping with excitement at being found. Amy took out her weapon and fired a shot into the air to let the others know where they were. Like it had been with the Jack and his group the shot attracted spiders. They decided that it would be a really good idea to head out of the area as quickly as possible and ran toward the sound of the weapons fire with the spiders close on their heals. It wasn’t easy to do but Shawn took one of his toys out of the bag while they were running and the lighter that he had gotten from Amy this morning. He lit the fuse about half way down the fuse that he had made and dropped the bomb then told the others to move out as fast as they could. The explosion did its job and killed a couple of the spiders but it also attracted more.
Jack saw Shawn and the girls running in their direction and noticed that the spiders were coming out of every opening in the area. There was a noise that they were having a hard time figuring out above them and Jack was looking for a place that they could defend easily to make a stand against the bugs. They ran to the nearest store and opened it then John and Teal’c did a quick check of the inside for openings and things that they didn’t want to be in the close quarters in the building with. It was secure and they went back out front to help with the defense of the building and to get the others inside.
The spiders didn’t like to come out into the light but they had a large amount of food moving through the area and that was worth the pain of the sun in their eyes to get to. Most of the buildings were still in the path of the sun anyway so they wouldn’t hurt too much.

Sam sent Daniel and two of the Marines out to get the others while she stayed with the kids and ran the project. Daniel was out the door in a shot with the Marines doing their best to keep up with him. Daniel found the spot where the meter started dropping and moved back to where it wasn’t affected. They found a nice place to sit and wait for the wayward group to come to them. Daniel was interested in seeing how the field was working and took out one of the staff weapons. He fired it toward the top of one of the buildings that were in the zone and saw that the energy from the plasma dwindled then just disappeared without hitting anything. It wasn’t just electrical energy that was being sucked out of the area it was any kind of energy. Jack and the others were going to need to get out of that area as quickly as possible. Daniel called Sam and told her what he had found out. She thought they would be okay for a while but it wasn’t something that they would want to stay in for a long period of time.

Shawn waited for Amy and Cassy to get into the building before he grabbed one of the shotguns that was being pushed in his direction. He turned and took up a position that was low in the entryway. The sound of the shotguns going off all around was deafening. Teal’c was taking the left section with Jack taking the right and John was working the center and that was where Shawn was helping out. The rustling sound was getting louder and that was when they noticed the flock of pigeons. They were not your normal pigeons they were a six to eight foot wing span and they were swooping down picking off the smaller of the spiders while the larger spiders were jumping into the air and off buildings to try and catch the birds.
John pulled out his 45 and smiled as the others stopped firing at the spiders. “Looks like it’s time to feed the birdies.” He took aim with the pistol and shot one of the larger spiders in the head, it fell and twitched for a while and it was immediately attacked by the birds. The smaller of the spiders were running for cover while the larger and large medium ones were trying to catch the birds for their supper. Jack and Teal’c both thought this was a good idea and took out their P90’s and switched them to semi automatic then started making head shots. Amy wanted in on the game and came out with her weapon ready and started taking out her targets with glee, she hated spiders. Shawn stayed low and was providing cover for any spider that decided that it wanted to go for the humans instead of the birds.
It ended soon when the spider’s fond that they were outnumbered by the birds and it was time to find a safe place to spend the day. Jack was watching them as they ran away and saw that most of them were making a run for one basement in particular. That must be where the main nest was. Bug boy had said that it was unusual for spiders like this to live in a central den, most spiders lived solitary lives only getting together to mate.
“Shawn, what was it that you threw at the spiders as they were chasing after you?”
“It was just something that I whipped up while we were in for the night.”
“I’d like to see how you whipped that up later, it had a nice bang, if you have another toss it into that basement and lets hope it works like a can of bug spray.”
Shawn didn’t shorten the fuse this time he just lit the fuse and tossed the homemade bomb into the basement as they all took cover. Only a few seconds later the windows blew out as well as the doors as the explosion shook the building. Everybody that was watching was wondering if the building was going to fall but it held steady once it stopped shaking. They got up and made their way through the carnage of the dead spiders and some of the birds that were not fast enough to get away from the larger spiders. They made their way back over to the gun shop. They had some extra weapons but this way Shawn and Amy could get something that they wanted and it would be a good idea to reload on extra ammo, they had used quit a bit of theirs on the last spider attack. Now that they knew that a shot to the head worked fairly well on the larger spiders they took a couple of scoped larger caliber rifles and plenty of ammo along with hand held weapons. They were brisling when they left the shop.
Amy and Cassy were still hung over and didn’t feel like eating anything but Shawn was starving and the girls needed the water. Shawn told them all about the juice that had caused all the problems with the women of the group which got a good laugh from everybody, even Teal’c gave a small chuckle making the girls turn very red but they were smiling. It was now time to get out of the area as quickly as possible.

Daniel was watching the area carefully as well as everybody else that was there to get the others out. He picked up the radio to call in and see if there were any changes at the base. When he click on the radio it did nothing, he checked to see if he might have accidentally turned it off and it was not. The radio was dead. He took the staff weapon and fired it into the air again but all it did was click when he tried to fire the weapon. He tried to start the motorcycle but it was as dead as everything else. He called out to the others telling them that the field that was draining the power from everything had moved past them and to get out the standard weapons. The were going to hold position while waiting on Jack and the others to get to there position but they now needed to find a more defensible location.
Sam was tried to contact Daniel’s team when he was late on his contact but got nothing. She was about to send out another team to see if Daniel had gotten into trouble when one of the Asgard came up and tugged on her sleeve to get her attention. They were not very good with English but they went to one of the computers on that floor to show her something that they had found. It was a program that was running and as she read through the files carefully to see what the program did, she became very concerned. They now knew what was causing the cleanup and power loss. It also explained whey the population was gone from this planet. They were all dead.
According to the notes on the program they were working on a machine that would clean out all the bad bacteria and things like dust, pollen, mold and dirt out of areas that it shouldn’t be in. It was in the experimental stages where they were working on testing on the spiders and pigeons to see what affect it would have on living creatures. They noted that both of the groups of animals were having problems with gene mutation making them grow to sizes that were not normal. It was noted that this experiment was a long way from becoming a viable working model and that it had caused a large number of the test animals to die when they were exposed to the machine. It caused all of the bacteria in the test subjects to be destroyed and that killed the subjects.
The body needed some bacteria to live and some of the other things that they had not expected to have removed which were necessary for things to live. The notes said that the full blown version of the machine was being built and should be finished in a couple of weeks even though the proto type was not finished and wouldn’t be for some time. It was felt by the people that were in control of the health of the population that it should be ready to go as soon as the problems were worked out.
The schematic’s of the machine was in the computer, the Asgard was telling her that this machine was building power for another cleaning cycle and that it was in a note that was not in the computer programs that the large version of the machine had been accidentally turned on and it was not able to be turned off. The population of the planet had died from one person pushing a button to start a machine that was not ready yet. The Asgard said that the machine would gather power until it was ready to discharge the cleaning wave that could not be stopped or blocked anywhere on the planet. Sam was looking at the diagrams on the computer and noted that the power was being drawn out of anything outside of a two mile radius now in a building that was not too far away from them. The Stargate was outside of the power ring which meant that it had been drained of its power also. It would rebuild its power after a while but for now it was useless to try anything that was outgoing.
She was told by the Asgard that they had about six hours before the wave would be released that would kill everybody on the planet and they had no way of getting away from it.
