A reasonable effort, but it is flawed. The characters don't mesh with the established SG-1 characters. Jack would have wanted vengeance on the gould who killed carter. Secondly "Meridian" in season five shows us a willingness by the SGC to call in it's allies when needed to help in medical situations, you know, daniel actually has to stop Jacob from healing him so he can ascend. Why didn't the SGC call jacob? And why did it take so long for Jacob to arrive, i mean come on, its his daughter we are talking about. He has dropped Tokra missions before to help SG1 out of a jam, Season 4 "Tangent". A reasonable effort, and i admit that i hate character death stories, but a story about SG1 really needs to be about SG1 as we know them and can't change the way they act when set in a time period we know about. Jack was still a member of SG1 so the characters should have acted as they would have in one of the first 7 seasons.
